LOOKING IN THE MIRROR THE NEXT DAY

I woke up this morning,
felt like a stranger in my bed,
I was trying to remember,
with a pounding in my head,
What did I do last night,
a hazy memory?
I stumble to the mirror,
to see what's staring back at me.

CHORUS:
LOOKING IN THE MIRROR THE NEXT DAY,
Trying to find the pieces
that got lost along the way,
Oh, how the night can
change our lives,
But looking in the mirror,
we find strength to survive.

My face is showing signs
of the battles I've been through,
The laughter and the tears,
and the choices I've made too,
The night was filled with passion,
and sweet sweet melody,
But now it's time to face the truth,
live my own reality.

CHORUS:
LOOKING IN THE MIRROR THE NEXT DAY,
Trying to find the pieces
that got lost along the way,
Oh, how the night can
change our lives,
But looking in the mirror,
we find strength to survive.

I'll take the lessons learned
and wear them like a badge,
I'll remember all the love
and the moments that we had,
For every night must end
and give way to a new day,
But I'll cherish all the memories
as I look the other way.

As I look into the mirror,
I know I'll be okay,
For every night has its own price,
a debt we all must pay.
So I'll take a deep breath,
and I will step into the light,
LOOKING IN THE MIRROR THE NEXT DAY,
I will make things right.

CHORUS:
LOOKING IN THE MIRROR THE NEXT DAY,
Trying to find the pieces
that got lost along the way,
Oh, how the night can
change our lives,
But looking in the mirror,
we find strength to survive.

The lovely bright strings sound great. Oh I love the turn the chorus took melodically. Gorgeous harmonies so well balanced also. I really like the song concept - it is so relatable - and the mirror is such a strong visual symbol of checking in with oneself. Wonderful story of a character's self examination, being accountable and finding the strength to continue on and learn from past mistakes - presented in a beautiful musical package!

Great twist! Those Hazy memories are hazy memories at this point but how many can relate to this! How those nights came and went without so much as an accident must have been the hand of God! Good song Jerry!

Yeah this is light but it has a dark edge! Sometimes the best way to deliver a message. The mirror scares me a bit sometimes these days ha ha. Good song! A real flow of lyrics.

you strike a good balance between the fun we have at night and the regret we feel in the morning. its a cheerful song, despite the sordid implications.

Good sounding tune you produced here. The lyrics are reflective, nostalgic and self critical as well. We've all had moments/times like this.

Another crackerjack of a title/lyric/melody/production all delivered with great aplomb!

Awesome writing and performing! So many times I've thought about things like this. Sweet production too!

Killer production, kind of a '60s/'70s vibe, like the Byrds or the Association. Great voice and love the harmonies. I can relate to the lyric a lot, in my younger years I looked in the mirror often.

Best line: Oh, how the night can
change our lives

Who can’t relate to that? Another observational song as only you can do it, Jerry.

@sbs
Excellent write! As an introvert, I don't think I relate to this "looking in the mirror" thing that so many like to quote. Do people actually "look in the mirror" when they're feeling regret? Or is it just a metaphor? For me, it's more of an internal feeling of pure dread.
