Wildflowers On The Highway Of Regrets

Liner Notes

I'm struggling with coming up with anything meaningful for LINER NOTES any more. How do y'all come up with those, um, endless stories behind every song?

Part of my problem may be with the "randomness" that creates these songs--starting with a random selection from a spreadsheet of titles accumulated over YEARS, which then results in more or less random lyrics that really aren't particularly "inspired" by True Life, then random chord progressions, etc.

Anyway...this one ain't bad! So there!

WILDFLOWERS ON THE HIGHWAY OF REGRETS

My life has been a lonely road,
where trouble marked the way,
With every mile, a memory,
a new debt I must pay.
The choices made, the chances lost,
cast shadows in my room.
But where regrets once
made me lose my way,
now wildflowers bloom.

CHORUS:
WILDFLOWERS ON THE HIGHWAY OF REGRETS,
Each petal a lesson that I won’t forget.
Amidst the thorns of choices,
though I ain't found the right one yet,
WILDFLOWERS ON THE HIGHWAY OF REGRETS.

I’ve seen my share of heartache,
felt the cold rush of the rain,
And through the storms of broken dreams,
I’ve waded through the pain.
But in the rubble of what once
I thought was likely best,
Grew wildflowers on the paths
that had put me to the test.

CHORUS:
WILDFLOWERS ON THE HIGHWAY OF REGRETS,
Each petal a lesson that I won’t forget.
Amidst the thorns of choices,
though I ain't found the right one yet,
WILDFLOWERS ON THE HIGHWAY OF REGRETS.

Now looking back ain’t easy
when the road ahead’s unclear,
But those blooms along the shoulder
whisper courage in my ear.
They tell me life keeps flowering,
no matter past duress,
And regrets that I am feeling
are just seeds of new success.

GUITAR SOLO

So I’ll continue down this road
and watch them sway,
Those wildflowers bright,
in their colorful display.
In each, I find the strength
I need to face another day,
Those wildflowers guiding me
along my winding way.

CHORUS:
WILDFLOWERS ON THE HIGHWAY OF REGRETS,
Each petal a lesson that I won’t forget.
Amidst the thorns of choices,
though I ain't found the right one yet,
WILDFLOWERS ON THE HIGHWAY OF REGRETS.

Oh that title drew me like a bee to one of those wildflowers.
I rally like this one. With that fab title, it could have been a disappointment, but far from it. This has a great early 70s feel about it (one of the best periods in musical history for me). I could imagine this done by Jackson Brown, The Eagles or even The Byrds (in their "Sweethearts of the Rodeo" period).

So many visuals in this and that title is an eye-catcher! This was a delightful listen! It's a musical treat with all the elements you've included. The poetic feel gives it a lighter mood, especially with wildflowers as the focus and source of strength! Nice one!

excellent title and i like the time signature and the percussion moves it really well. nice n wordy and it works.

Such a terrific title, and to me this has a delightfully 60s-esque, almost Monkees-like psychedelic pop appeal. And the chorus lyrics makes use of the title conceit perfectly. Just a good-time, kick-back kind of song, and an absolute toe-tapping pleasure to listen to.

its a good song and at the very least you have a title that nobody has used yet. liner notes can be a drag because often the listener will comment on the liner notes rather than the song...and in doinf so, sometimess miss the whole point of the song.

By writing that you don't know what to write, you actually made your liner notes :) And they sound original and moving! Beautifully written lyrics and music. Beautiful singing and playing. Everything is beautiful, nostalgic and lovely. I love the title too. And your instrumentation.

The title alone deserves applause and those concise yet poetic lyrics combined with an instantly memorable melody that follows and hey...we have what some might say (i.e me) an exemplar of song craftsmanship!

That's a great title, and I like the folk/rock vibe. It takes "regret" and makes it lighter and more lovely.

This song just zips along the pathway, over too soon in my opinion. Such a lovely thought about wildflowers along the highway colourful and shining bright in the s unlight. But on the highway of regret, gives another picture.

@sbs
No need for liner notes - you put it all in your lyrics. I tip my hat!
