Liner Notes

I sat down in front of the computer at the official start and this morning I did not feel writing like any of my ideas. Then I remembered it was kinda fun to do a #meta #introductory song. @spirulence had commented on my soundboard about open tunings and I felt like it would be fun to pick up my #silvertone #acousticguitar. That guitar is very similar to my first guitar as a kid in the late 60's, and I have it in #opentuning, an open C or CEGEGC. @ductapeguy did a forum post https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/forums/2593 on generating 50 ideas quickly then mentioned lyric fragments in the #fawmslack. When I strummed the opening chord progression the title popped in my head. So it begins.

Lyrics

Chorus
[F] [Eb] [C]
[F] 50 [Eb] pieces [C] of me
[F] My world’s [Eb] bandwidth [C] perceived
[F] Framed by [Eb] what is [C] believed
[F] 50 [Eb] pieces [C] of me

Verse 1
[C] 5090 is upon us again
[D] Time for me to write songs again
[E] To listen comment and learn
[F] Feel that creative energy burn
[C] So once again here I go
[D] Jumping back into the foaming rapids flow
[E] Until the first of October
[F] When the website says 5090 over

Repeat chorus

Verse 2
[C] Starting off with this meta song
[D] Thankfully its not very long
[E] A brief intro to what might be heard
[F] Spoiler alert I’m more interested in the words
[C] So once again here I go
[D] Jumping back into the foaming rapids flow
[E] Until the first of October
[F] When the website says 5090 over

Repeat chorus

Really nice song here.
Really catchy.
Love that chorus.
And as usual when you post the chords too, I played along on the bass.

The foaming rapids flow is my favorite line. Great way to talk about the ups and downs of songwriting. This is a cool way to describe the whole challenge. :)

I’m digging these meta lyrics! As said below, I could relate. The rapids image is my favorite, but it’s not the only good one in here. Nice picking, too!

Love this! Extremely relatable, first of all. And the near-rhyme of October/over is so fun. Looking forward to hearing the other 49 pieces.

I love that you went full meta!

I like how "flow" and "October" ring with each other and that whole series of lines (go/flow/October/over).

Excellent way to break the ice.

@sbs
Classic Andy! Love it! The chorus adds a little something extra!

Good man Andy, such a blast.... thank you...

@cts
Meta-song for the win! The chorus is a highlight for me. I appreciate the dash of humor and your approach to song #1. Only 49 to got before the site says: "It's over."

I want to steal that initial chord progression now. I love this metafini meditation.

Looking forward to hear those coming 49 other pieces!

I never metasong I didn't like! Lovely start, Andy!

Thanks for the masterclass. Very relateable for us songwriters.

Perfect opening song! I do like the sound of your guitar! Fun change up of guitar styles!

cool idea and i really liked the chorded silvertone acoutic. silvertone from sears was my first electric guitar and at the time was perceived as the bottom of the line. i dont know if it is my problem alone, but the song kept stopping throughout. you might check and see if you are having the same problem or if my computer is in typical malfunction ode

Brilliant approach to the 5090 Starter Standard
