The Mountain Climber

Liner Notes

This weeks SongSidekick Song Circle was to create a song that was not from my continent, which is North America. The thought on my mind when sitting down to this song was to write a song that looked at a character that lives live on the edge as guide to live a more perfect life, and with the prompt on my mind I thought of the Swiss Alps and the alpine climbers who test their spirit on the hallowed peaks. From there we now have The Mountain Climber.

Took three hours from sitting down to final demo post. No clue why I would pronounce pasture so oddly on this demo version but that's what came out.

I enjoyed your liner notes as much as the song. Nice imagery throughout. "as the summits blue their color"--very nice!

all the fears and obstacles contrasted with the rewards of facing danger are condensed into a few thoughts of a mountain climber in action. it is a compact metaphor for life itself. plenty of memorable lines, my favorite being "a communion of the sublime / a jagged cathedral of stone and ice."
