Lyrics

If I want to hear you I’ll just pick up the phone
You’re there at the end of the line
We’ll have conversations and we won’t be alone
You’re there at the end of the line
Talk about nothing if there’s nothing to tell
Just dial the number and it all turns out well
Give a vote of thanks to Alexander G Bell
You’re there at the end of the line

If I want to see you I’ll just get on a train
You’re there at the end of the line
I got a season ticket there’s no need to complain
You’re there at the end of the line
A couple of stations and we’re living the dream
We go together like those peaches and cream
It’s not so romantic now trains don’t run on steam
You’re there at the end of the line

I hope we’re together and it never ends
We’re not at the end of the line
I don’t ever want to end up as just friends
We’re not at the end of the line
I’ll be a pigeon and you’ll be a dove
I’m wishing on a lucky star above
We don’t ever want to fall out of love
We’re not at the end of the line

I love it how you used the conversation idea for the subject. Such a cute song. Beautiful singing and playing. Very relatable.

Such a creative and high quality song, that's great fun to listen to. I love the way you introduced two meanings of 'end of the line', and then brought in the hope not to be at the end of the line.
And talking of lines, I really like the one about the pigeon and the dove!

Clever way of underscoring a point by using the familiar idiomatic phrase “end of the line” in three different meanings. A fun listen!
