Liner Notes

I seem to be in a 1920s or '30s mood today. Here is another little number that might have gone down well back then, though with modern sensibilities.

Instrument: Baton Rouge 8 String Baritone Ukulele
#fuc #ukulele #baritoneukulele

Lyrics

(D) I found you in the (Bm) lost and (A) found
(D) We caught each other (Bm) on the re(A)bound
The (D) clerk said he couldn’t find the (G) things we’d lost
But as(D)sured us that (A) nothing gets (D) tossed

(D) I shrugged and you (Bm) gave me a (A) smile
(D) I suggested that we (Bm) talk for a (A) while
We (D) went to a bar that you (G) knew quite well
Then spent the (D) night in a (A) cheap mo(D)tel

Was it (G) destiny, or would you call it (D) fate?
(F#m) Looking back, that’s the heart of the (Bm) debate
(G) We made a life after that together
A (D) chance meeting led to a lifelong treasure
There are (A) so many ways you get to meet your (D) mate

(D) Our kids are now both (Bm) fully (A) grown
(D) They worry ‘bout a (Bm)future un(A)known
(D) We reassure them it will (G) all work out
The (D) universe has (A) plans for them no (D) doubt

They (G) laugh at how we put such faith in (D) fate
But (F#m) what will be will be is beyond de(Bm)bate
We say (G) “Take your chances when they appear
(D) Live your life without too much fear!”
There are (A) so many ways you get to meet your (D) mate

Repeat last line

Ooh...I'm sure I've heard your music before. If so, I forgot what a great singer you are. This is so catchy and bouncy and richly observed. And, again, I just love the way you deliver the lines. And there's some great advice here, too. (Where are you in Catalunya? I just spent a week in Perpignan and really liked the area. Oh, I'm definitely not dismissive of skirmishes. I'm not precious about songwriting or anything. Indeed, I'm not even an amateur musician, just a guy who tries to make something from the depths of his ignorance and incompetence a few times a year. Cheers!)

such perfection. your high notes are round and full, the lyrics clever in the cole porter sense of cleverness, and the whole concept comes from a different mode of consciousness than the pervasive ones of current times. (do they even believe in mates anymore?)

This is great. Like that it's a story song and the playing and singing are fantastic.

indeed there are, well said. yur vox does well in that higher register. good message on fear as well.

Very lovely, engaging song, singing and playing. Fun to listen to. Very cool take on the prompt.

The steady chugging rhythm assures me that the years that are alluded to went by quickly. This song makes a good case for trusting fate.

This is such a delightful song! You drew me right in with the witty and fun verse of the lost and found meet up that led to the motel and life of love! What wonderful story telling of love and life over time! I really love the old timey feel to the music and the sing-a-long feel to the melody. Your vocals are superb! Makes me smile!

I am enchanted by some of these rhymes.

Fun tune. I don't think I would be brave enough to try some of those chords on a baritone 8-string uke. (uke sounds great)
