Lyrics

g d
sitting in the corner of cafe
c g
pouring my soul out in song
g d
it's hard to be heard over clinking spoons
c g
and the patrons that came in today

with a smile on my face and note out of grace
it's hard to feel real sad

cause i remember when i wrote this song
and they freedom that it gave

d c
red wine circle just lining my notes
d c
coffee stains hiding what i just wrote
d c
patterns in the chatter, words on the page

d c d c g
nothing feels better than searching for a muse on lazy day

pile of books goin unread
honeydew list with a sea of checks

everywhere i go it's only exposure
that they're willing to pay

mac and cheese for dinner again
but that's okay with me

you can take my pride you can steal my soul
but just leave my guitar

bridge

am - em - d - f - c

when the worlds on fire
and my thoughts are unkind
i know i can escape
by going
and searching
for a muse on a lazy day

d c d c g
nothing feels better than searching for a muse on lazy day

I love songs about writing and creativity. The descriptors put me right in the coffee shop and being background music is so relatable!

great evocation of that period of life when every path you take leads to a song. i spent nearly all of my twenties in cafes, playing music, drinking coffee, getting drunk, and chasing potential muses.
