Challenge: Descending ChordsLiner Notes
Beto says: @johnkaniecki posted on the forums asking for song titles. I suggested "I'm Late". He then wrote this amazingly vivid lyric, and pinged me when it was ready. I couldn't resist and added music with my #ukulele.
The chorus has nice descending chords: Bb A Ab G, so it qualifies for this week's challenge! (The verse is a much simpler G F C.)

Lyrics
Stayed up all night making love to my girlie
The always lazy cross-town bus was early
Headed east the sun was burning my eyes
I began contemplating certain alibis
Martians landed they wanted to debate
The fortuneteller demanded to predict my fate
Profound mysteries you can’t contemplate
Sorry Charlie (@charliecheney?) I just happen to be late
Heaven spoke showing no mercy hail prevailed
My smart son took his final exams and failed
I got a collect call from Preacher Jack
I was weeping over the Pearl Harbor attack
Martians landed they wanted to debate
The fortuneteller demanded to predict my fate
Profound mysteries you can’t contemplate
Sorry Charlie I just happen to be late
Philosophy are questions answered for naught
You’re always innocent until you’re finally caught
Money talks but tell me do you want to listen?
You won’t go far in a car without ambition
Traffic was heavy and so’s my beating heart
I was awe struck by a random piece of art
Roman soldiers flooded the streets with greed
A lonely beggar pleaded with me to meet his need
Martians landed they wanted to debate
The fortuneteller demanded to predict my fate
Profound mysteries you can’t contemplate
Sorry Charlie I just happen to be late
I saw a robin (@robynmackenzie?) singing captivating
The KKK stopped systematic hating
Peace broke out and flooded both soul and mind
Finally we realized no child left behind
Martians landed they wanted to debate
The fortuneteller demanded to predict my fate
Profound mysteries you can’t contemplate
Sorry Charlie I just happen to be late
