Challenge: Two Styles

Liner Notes

This was my attempt at the Two Styles challenge. It is 'suppose' to be a surf rock song with a folky part in it. Not sure I nailed either style but just going to fawm it and move on. At the very least I learned some cool surfer lingo!

A few of the lines are horrible and need to be reworked, but the frame is there.

Lyrics

e
dawn patrol calling
g
coffee cup is brewing
a e
i drank to much the night before

if i don't get to moving
the barneys will be doing
all the big macking for sure

b a g
me mi o hey
a e a
this is summertime

me mi o hey
gonna have me a day

b a g
right out the front door
a e a
going head down to the line

boards on top of the woody
radios playing loud

me o mi o hey
this is summertime

me mi o hey
gonna have me a day

not here looking for mush
only riding on nugs

shoulder of the wave
sick and slotted the way

but

noodle arms are calling
i took a nasty tumble
always getting worked by the waves

going hit the wall
if don't stop tombstoning
you know i need a different play

me o mi o hey
this is summertime

me mi o hey
gonna have me a day

wave hogs better be real tight
you know i'm taking their waves

i'm feeling amped upon
curlin to the crest al the way

me o mi o hey
this is summertime

me mi o hey
gonna have me a day

but

on the beach i'm seeing
some real fine looking hunnies
got em all looking my way

might cruise over to them
ask them what their doing
take em on dinner date

I think the two styles helps the song, because the chorus stands out, has a good power to it when it comes! Would be a song I'd sing along to the "me mi oh heyhey"!

Love your singing! Chorus is really catchy! Surfer lingo is great.

well they are two different styles and thats the idea - not sure which styles but that don't matter, its very well done and holds together well!

Oooh The Fillmore crowd checks out the Pipeline! Both styles are catchy and together they make quite a team. Lots of good stuff in this one and I hope it gets to where you want it to go.

I really like the “throwback” feel of this tune. The contrasting sections work really well. A nice depiction of summer happenings.

I am not qualified to attest to the styles, but the different sections are certainly different timbres and personas. Using them together and playing them against each other resulted in packing a large experience into a short song.
