Challenge: Idiom

Liner Notes

My attempt at the first week idiom challenge. I chose the saying "You catch more flies with honey".

Idiom Challenge: https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/challenge/9

Sweetness might the best approach but sometimes you have to work with what you have.

Lyrics

infatuation
the opposite of fear
i've been interested
every time you're near

i thought we had connection
a place to build a home
a rock called love to stand upon

you catch more flies with honey
that's what i've been told
but flies don't hang around here anymore

your thought is always constant
my sleep is haggard tired
you are perfection of my desire

i thought that we could share
this gift held so dear
and now it is from you i never hear

you catch more flies with honey
that's what i've been told
but flies don't hang around here anymore

ive been feeling dread
at the thought of no return
how can i speak to someone / that's never here

all that's left is nerves
and the shadow of your steps
where have you gone / with all my thoughts

you catch more flies with honey
that's what i've been told
but flies don't hang around here anymore

I love the effect on the guitar it adds a bit for sure! I love the lyric especially the last line and a really nice phrased delivery

I also liked the turn around of the common expression with the unexpected "but flies don't hang around here anymore". Really goes with the mood of the song too, a bit mysterious! The guitar part really adds to the feeling!

There's almost a fly buzzing undertone to your vocal line, or is that my imagination? A grittiness or metallic edge. I really like the melody and pacing of this. "but flies don't hang around here anymore" is such a great line, especially the way you've constructed it within the song here.

Moody and catchy! I love the vocal layering and the effect on the guitar. Intriguing lyrics, the title grabbed my attention! I'd never heard this idiom before, I like it. I especially liked how you turn it around to "flies don't hang around here anymore". Great work!
