Don’t Bury Me Down
Challenge: Refrain (No Chorus)Liner Notes
This might take some revision, but I’ve been writing in the mornings this week, and this morning I had the title in my head and got an idea for a song from the angle of someone asking another person not to make any too-hasty decisions about how “over” they might be. May not work, but it’s a sentiment I bet some can relate to. #lyricsonly for now but will probably get an uke demo eventually.
Ended up with #nochorus, just the repeating refrain.
Lyrics
So, here we are, you said your piece
I saw the light snap out
The door you swung you slid you slammed
You’re headed underground
Baby, don’t bury me down
It was different in my dream,
Less fuzz, less wall of sound
Pushed apart, my bones all ache
But maybe I’ll see you around
Baby, don’t bury me down
I take exception to my grief
It’s more than I’d allow
How’d my heart get so heavy
And who’s going to carry it now?
Baby, don’t bury me down
BRIDGE
Baby, don’t bury me down
Maybe I’ll see you around
Some things get lost and get found
Baby, don’t bury me down
Cause loneliness can take a beat
Then call your name so loud
Don’t dig us any graves
Until you’ve gone some time without
Baby, don’t bury me down

“ It was different in my dream,
Less fuzz, less wall of sound”
That’s so beautiful and relatable to me.
Lovely write!
