Beg Borrow Steal

Liner Notes

I keep trying to channel something off Working Man's Dead I guess. I wouldn't claim to be a dead head but I've certainly listened to a bit of their music. Maybe one day.

#acoustic

Took about three hours, maybe less. Was pretty happy when the chorus finally hit because I was feeling pretty blank in the moment.

Lyrics

e e g a

i've died in the heat of the summer sun
in a desert filled with lead
i've crawled through the muddy water beds
with them hounds quick on my heels

i've been to the top of the mountain
i've dove to the bottom of the sea
i would walk all those miles over
for my rider to be next to me

[chorus x2]
d
i'd beg
a
i'd borrow
e
i'd steal
d
i'd fight
a
i'd die
e
for you

i shook the hands of the devil
and took that money he loaned
i sang with the choir of angels
i've been drunk on a sunday noon

i've skipped the ring of the dinner bell,
i've tightened my belt for sure
i'd left a man in the cold cruel sun
just to take what once was his

[chorus]

a e
the thought of your voice, calling me home
a e
the smell of your scent on the wind
a e
the promise of love on the tip of your tongue
d A e
is enough to drive this poor boy insane

[chorus]

this is definitely in the dead style. although i had stopped listening to them by the time they reached this stage of their career. i liked their first album, but after pigpen died it wasnt the same band. i heard them plenty of times though, as they seemed to be everywhere, always playing for free in the park,

Gotta love "Beg Borrow Steal" as a title! Cool acoustic/vocal combo. Perfect for the song. The verses remind me of "Take It Easy." Well done!
