Challenge: Get Lost

Liner Notes

#acousticrock #acousticonetake
I was trying to do several things at once — a Divine Masculine journey, bits and pieces of my own current story, some things about manifesting, and an undertone of hope. The near rhymes at the start of lines made verse memorization easier. When I had written all the words, it read like a Foreigner lyric, so I used the Foreigner song “Blinded by Science” as a point of reference for tempo and mood, giving something well outside my usual musical center. That also led to breaking new ground as a singer and in writing the melodic variations.

Lyrics

Running to catch up
I promised so much
I had to find a way
Fell out of touch
Coming to realize
I never got what I bought
Plans written in sand
I am not what I thought

Reversing generations
Who had spoken from fear
Go back to ground zero
There’s nobody here
Cursing the nature
That made me say yes I am
More words for those who
Taught the meaning of can

I think we had promised to meet
We had a mountain to climb
I never found out the day
Got lost on the street
Lost track of the time

Scrambling is not a good look
For a man today
If you see him coming
You might get out of the way
It’s humbling to admit to
An indefinite delay
I had to stop promising
I don’t know what to say

I think we had promised to meet
We had a mountain to climb
I never found out the day
Got lost on the street
Lost track of the time

I think we had promised to meet
We had a mountain to climb
I never found out the day
Got lost on the street
Lost track of the time

"Plans written in sand
I am not what I thought " is once again a great hook of a line.
