Sit Pretty
Skirmish: Serendipity (@robinleaf) Challenge: IdiomLiner Notes
#acousticonetake
For the prompt of serendipity, a story of an improbable reunion.
The chorus and setting were inspired by Las Vegas and its “Sin City” nickname as suggested by the #destinationamerica challenge, though the challenge had not yet been posted when the song was written.
Lyrics
I always thought we would meet again
But never imagined the place and time
Three years ago you were out on the street
Committed to a life of crime
I can’t quite imagine the way
You made all your moves
But the only constant is change
And that’s what this proves
While everyone around you angles to win
You can sit pretty
You already owned the sin
Now you own the city
Well all the flights were grounded
And mine had to land here
And I was left looking around
I didn’t quite like the beer
The place where we first met
Was only one block away
That whole tower was brought to the ground
Or that’s what people say
While everyone around you angles to win
You can sit pretty
You already owned the sin
Now you own the city
Sit pretty sit pretty sit pretty
Sit pretty sit pretty sit pretty
Thank you for the invitation
As you can likely surmise
I’d be happy to sit pretty
And watch the sun rise
While everyone around you angles to win
You can sit pretty
You already owned the sin
Now you own the city
While everyone around you angles to win
You can sit pretty
You already owned the sin
Now you own the city
Now you own the city
