Clara

Liner Notes
This song was a response to the weekly SongSidekick Song Circle Weekly prompt in which some story telling dice where thrown with the following results:
Character: Impatient, nonbinary, charismatic, minority | POV: omniscient outsider | Time: Medieval history | Place: rural | Theme: loneliness | Conflict: man vs self
These led me to writing the origin story of Clara, the famous knife thrower. I tried to play it on baritone uke to give it a more renaissance flair but the lyric tone didn't quite match the vibe. At any rate, here it is, and Clara throw that knife.

Lyrics
uke
bm verse
d d/c bm d/c
clara wears boys clothes
it's her best defense
from the men at the pub
with their grabby hands
clara dreams of love
as she toils in the fields
she feels the loneliness
as its creeping in
there's a troupe in town that leaving tonight
she's plan on sneaking in
she'll learn to juggle or maybe dance
just to leave it all behind
throw that knife
throw that knife
clara feels disconnected
from what they want her to be
and she is growing tired
of explaining who is she
clara knows there more to her
than just her feminine side
so she steals a dagger and learns to throw it
better any man
there's a troupe in town that leaving tonight
she's plan on sneaking in
an apple placed upon a head
her aim will lead her there
throw that knife
throw that knife
clara been on the road now for
she don't know how long
she still feels the loneliness
when the night time comes around
clara can jump up on a pole
as she lets her feelings go
when the sharpened blade finds it way
she can the relax for the day
there's a troupe in town thats leaving tonight
that clara just headlined
she know both far and wide as the
boy who can throw a knife
throw that knife (bm)
throw that knife (d)
clara throw that knife (bm)

Idk what SongSidekick Song Circle is, but it led you to an interesting character in Clara. (And as my last tune was written on uke, and the one I'm playing with now, on baritone guitar...the tag pulled me this way 🙂)
Edit - as I now read ALL the liner notes...I guess I kind of know what SongSidekick Song Circle is.... 😆
