Great funky intro... had me dancing even before the beat dropped. Love the groove and those blown out fuzzy sounds mixed with the sweet vocal samples. The breakdown in the middle is super fun taking us into the next section, reminds me of some of the Vampire Weekend vocal treatments. Nice outro. Grooving the whole listen.
That buzzy clav lays down the funk even before the rest of the gang show up. And when they do, oh my... The breakdown at 1:27 is a great, out-of-left-field touch of gorgeousness that I really did not expect. This totally stands on its own as it is; if you get a rapper in, they'd better treat this with the respect it deserves!
Upon hearing the keys I was reminded of early D’Angelo. Further into it I got a hint of Lauryn Hill. Good mixture of several influences and it brings to mind good memories of less “strange” times in the land. The mix is good…I don’t detect any peaks. I’ll check it out on my monitors when I get home today. I would be very interested to see how the rap component fits into the mix. Do it. D’oit.
Cool saturated electric piano! Awesome riff. Drums coming in felt so right. And wow that subby distorted bass synth - love how high you have that in the mix, bold!! You’re so good at picking vocal samples, this feels like it was recorded specifically for your track. Could hear @nahlej381 on this 👀
That's a funky riff (e-piano?) - then the bass and a vocal sample as percussion, then in comes a smooth soul vocal - very nice. Love that bass! 1:30 - very splitty vocal rhythmic effects. This is definitely one of my favourites from you.
