Lyrics

This used to be a one horse town
But now that horse is dead
Time put a bullet into
His fine proud horsey head

The ancient school is long shut down
Where once I was taught
Its skeleton all that remains
The land’s never been bought

Where the roads twist
Away from the throng
I went back to
The Back of Beyond.
Where time stands still
Is where I belong
I went back to
The Back of Beyond

So peaceful as the sun goes down
To sit and watch the lake
Its ripples help to soothe the mind
Feet resting on a crate

I think I’ll stay and buy a horse
Renovate a shed
City stresses to be left behind
Contentment lies ahead

Where the roads twist
Away from the throng
I went back to
The Back of Beyond
Where time stands still
Is where I belong
I went back to
The Back of Beyond

Where the roads twist
Away from the throng
I went back to
The Back of Beyond
Where time stands still
Is where I belong
I went back to
The Back of Beyond

Dig the nostalgic lyrical matter combined the confidence of the vocal - a knowing nod that we're in flux and nothing is too distant if it can still be remembered. The opening lyrics are a shock, and sung with sincerity! Nice work there. Guitar playing is great - love the sound - full bodied and clear intricate strumming + progressions. Great work!

Well he always slings good lyrics and this is one of them. Really easily slightly cowboy delivery makes it an enjoyable all round listen.

@beacon

Very cool lyrics. I love the chorus. @tcelliott did a great job on the instrumentation and singing.

Now THAT is an interesting first verse. You just described my first two elementary schools, too, in the second one. Great job on this one guys! It hits home!

this is like a twilight zone episode but instead of a final ironic twist, there is a repeating loop. the chorus is excellent, and repeating it a second time at the end gives the feeling that our protagonist will continue to find himself at the back of beyond, which would translate literally as a frozen moment in nowhereville,
