Is This Really You

Liner Notes

I'm back! And trying a new concept/challenge. First I'm listening to a 'Hidden Brain' podcast, writing down words and phrase I like and think I can use. Then I write the song.
This one is 298. JUST SEX 26. SEPT 2017 and is about American making out culture. I tried to catch the difference between the carefull and the careless, the meaningfull and the meaningless + the mandatory observer in the peripheral. There are A LOT of Hidden Brain podcasts, wich means a lot of songs.

Lyrics

YOU’RE MAKING OUT
BUT YOU DON’T HOLD HIS HAND
YOUR HEART IS FULL OF DOUBT
BUT YOU DON’T LISTEN

I’M STANDING HERE
TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE RULES
YEAH I’M STANDING HERE
I FEEL NOTHING LESS THAN A FOOL

IS IT REALLY YOU?
IS IT REALLY YOU?

YOUR FRIENDS MAKE A RING
YOU FEEL LIKE YOU’RE IN A SCRIPT
IMMITATING THE RULES
THEY NOD, WHISPER AND APPROVES

IS THIS REALLY YOU?
IS THIS REALLY YOU?

I really like your vocal delivery. Full of emotion without being Too Much. Like you, I'm always on the hunt for words and phrases that resonate. Thanks for your comments on Bonnie & Clyde. They brought me to your page, where I'm going to enjoy some exploring.

Now that's an intriguing lyric approach, and the final product gives no indication of a pastiche or mashed brains (!) The slow measure and beat suits the lyric too...dds a more questioning feel than a faster one would.
