Still The Moon Looks On

Liner Notes

Here's number 49 of the #WK100 collection. The original demo for this was a 2010 instrumental chamber piece, you can still hear some of the arrangement in there, and then I pilfered the melody and some of the broader arragement, added lyrics, and made a "pop song" as my first song for FAWM15. So 12 years later, I hope it's had its final mix tweak and its finally reached it full potential. I really like this one, I wish it were 3 times as long. Lots of cool ear candy, and a few of my favorite lyrics. I hope people can appreciate and enjoy.

Oh, and as a side note, when I wrote Summer Number One (also posted here) nearly a year and a half later remember thnking (and I don't really remember much about the creation of 90% of these songs) I'd love to write another song for the Movie that "Still The Moon Looks On" appeared in. I wanted to get back into "that" world. So there's that.
So. Last listens before I put this one nicely into the center of the collection. I'm looking mostly for mix input. Something too loud, too soft, obviously "wong" in there? All nits crits opinions rants are happily welcome. Help me focus on a few trees through your eyes. Thanks to all who have added a few pennies of wisdom to the project. All ears hear all things. Help me hear through yours.
Wishing all who stop here a magical Summer weekend ahead. Whatever the Saturday night heartbreak you deliciously suffer, remember this song. :)
Hugs.

++++++++++++

It gives me some comfort that the moon looks on
The passion remains but the kisses are gone
All Edens appeared but they didn't stay long

Still the moon looks on

The seasons have changed but it all stayed the same
I took the gamble and I lost the game
and the band don't remember the songs that they played, but

Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks on

I got a friend in the sky
A friend in the night
A big old searchlight
That seeks me out
I'm lost and then I'm found...

Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks on

(solo)

Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks

Unfazed by the phases of my life it seems
The moon looks on passionless and sends me its beams
If I'm lost and forlorn or just crazy with dreams

Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks on

Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks
Still the moon looks on

I took another listen to both (“Sultans of Swing” like songs) and I stick by my comments - lol! This is my musical strength… Will now listen to your latest posted song. And listening to your amazing collection has given me a bit of stability during a very chaotic time…

@sbs2018 The other song you said you felt Sultans of Swing about (although I don't hear the similarity) was Strength To Believe (Next To You). https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/songs/1225 They were recorded 8 days apart so I guess this was the style I was messing with during Fawm2015. This is number 49 and that one is 50 in the collection, if you play this one through you'll hear the other one immediately after on the player. It would make a great album pair, and yes I have the material to make a full album of it Other songs written originally demo'd that month were Have You Seen Charlotte Lately? , Eyes Can't See (which II've just shared) and not related, but one that began a whole new style adventure, The Big Trapeze. The 4 songs, Still The Moon, Strength to Believe, Charlotte, and Eyes Can;t See were the early genesis of the South West (Arizona) songs, that you seem to like quite a bit. .
Hugs my friend. Thank you again for all your headspace time this Summer.

Have I heard this one before? The opening reminds me of "Sultans of Swing" and I know I've said that before. Oh yes, I think this was the one. Really cool chorus. Clever lyrics. No nits - no "dirty it up" comments - lol! Ready for Prime Time!
