No Steam Today

I've spent a lovely couple of days chilling out with a friend but I just can't get back into the swing of things today. The fact that it's 30°C (86°F) in my bedroom studio at the moment hasn't helped and it's going to be hotter still over the next few days. For the time being, I have run out of steam.

@ttg105
A bit modern sounding (the dance element) but still rooted in the 70s prog we all know and love. Really groovy bass line and beautiful sparkly guitars that take one on a melodic journey to space and beyond. Atmospheric keyboards provide a nice billowing-type atmosphere. Enjoyed!

As I know I've told you, you are largely responsible for turning me on to prog rock (latest discovery - Peter Gabriel-era Genesis) and I totally get the prog feel here. And this is also dance/chill awesomeness here as well! So lush and made for either a bit of lightly twirling dance or mental cooldown. I dig it a lot!

Yup we are 32 and its only day 6 of spring, i see a hot summer!i love the ringing keys! And that ominous synth which gives it that more cinematic feel! But its also very catchy i think its the great beat!

This is really nice. Very chill for being made in 30°C. I love the overall sound, it sounds like it could be from an old master tape from the 70's. The wobbly synth and the great funky groove is so good! Full of little details and subtle changes and great arrangement of all the layers!

You have created a very atmospheric and cinematic piece of music that has a certain "retro futuristic" touch to me. Urban sceneries with tall buildings and dark and lonely streets came to my mind while listening to this. A bit of John Carpenter, a touch of Blade Runner - this let's me think of the 80s somehow...
Fine work with lots and lots of layers!
Fortunately the big heat has walked off from Germany now and I put my big standing fan back in the cellar.

So many good things to come up with when you situate yourself in your creative space. This is a good example of that. I like the orchestral parts that help the piece to continually flow. The piano is pretty ripe as well. Very nice.

Well this has so much texture. Steam hasn’t run out . You must be a steam engine gathering a great head of steam

I've been studying modes, and the lessons are presented through the lens of music that's been composed for video games. The moods match the action. Your moods here paint a pretty dark picture.

I agree with @jeff9 this is very cinematic. I can relate to the heat. I have to turn off the fans and a/c if I want to record any vocals or acoustic instruments. It can get hot fast, esp with headphones on.
For no steam, this sure pumps along! You create a great sense of space with those synths being all reverbed and echoy in the background.

Damn--there's a whole movie that unfolded in my head as I played this. Amazingly colorful and chock full of emotional moments, not to mention beautifully produced. This was a real joy to get lost in for a few minutes. Thank you for sharing it, Chris. Hope things cool off for you soon, but if the heat had a hand in inspiring this, maybe you should put on a coat and do some more.

It's cooler here in Spain than where you are. My kids left here in a drizzle Sunday morning and landed at Stansted in the sunshine. The world turned upside down. Oh, yes, the music... I really like the spareness and funkiness of this. Wonderful bass sounds. The simplicity of the chord structure in the A theme lets it groove. Makes the chromaticism of the B section really stand out.

Noodling! Great! Yes it’s quite an intense track when it starts. The bass is funky yet has a lot of tonal quality .. ooh like that shift into the ominous realm of the dark chordisphere … seems like it could almost be a bass feature.
Not sure how this came out of high temperatures seems more like winter nights!!!

That bass line is menacingly funky. Killer production and very intense atmosphere. Great percussion work. Feel the heat!

Nice open. And that change around 114 is chill and heavy. Sounds great in headphones. I like those highs and lows around 300. Kudos.

Sounds like those heatwaves we often have on the West Coast this time of year. I know what you mean about running out of steam. Only the idea of SAWM keeps me in my studio, but, then, I've got A/C. 😀 Love the movement in this piece - nice!

We're undergoing a heat wave at the moment, as well.
Supposed to get up to 40 C today with the humidity, which is probably a record.
Doesn't sound like you've run out of steam; this is a lovely full cinematic production here.
I always appreciate your tunes in my headphones.
Love all that reverb floating off into the distance.
Yup, nice one.
