A very late submission to the skirmish, but it really resonated with me, and I'm sure happy with the results.

It is also a response song (#challenge) to the Indigo Girl's "Mystery" - I've had the line "meet in the middle of impossibility" in my head for several years now.

Lyrics

Meeting in the Middle
Jemma Kline

To touch your skin, to braid your hair,
I had to choose one million pathways.
Each tiny branch, too small to see,
But they all were heading your way.

How could we meet across a bridge so very wide?
What were the odds that we would both cross that divide?
I had to learn to be the me that fell for you.
You had to learn to be the one to find me too.

The lines and grace, upon my face,
Are signs I found the strength to trust me.
The turning point, one simple choice,
Now at last I’m living freely.

How could we meet across a bridge so very wide?
What were the odds that we would both cross that divide?
I had to learn to be the me that fell for you.
You had to learn to be the one to find me too.

Perhaps it’s waves that overlap,
Einstein-Rosen, we collapse,
As equations tell us we will never know.
But here we are, on quantum foam,
Join in the middle, as we roam,
And it matters not what secrets lie below.

How could we meet across a bridge so very wide?
What were the odds that we would both cross that divide?
I had to learn to be the me that fell for you.
You had to learn to be the one to find me too.

Lovely resolution at the end, small variation on that excellent chorus. I admire how you weave the cosmic and the quotidian in this song. Great reminder of how contingent, almost-impossibly unlikely, and wonderful it is to exist, and to connect. Thank you for this song.

Oh I love this! Especially like the part about overlapping waves and the quantum foam. This song definitely has an Indigo Girls feel to it :) (I love "Mystery"!)

Very nice song! I like the connection between relationships and crossing dimensions. My daughter is trans and just chose a new middle name, "Grace" so I also perked up at your use of that word, which fits so well. I did think you were singing about your child at the beginning for some reason, but the chorus dismissed that thought quickly. Very well done!
