(Unbalanced Parenthesis

Liner Notes

I thought of this title a few days ago but I didn't know it was going to turn out to be about ghosts. I realise the title will be annoying so as a reward for clicking, here's the closing parenthesis ).

I'm not aware of any other songs that have involved both #ghosts and #grammar, so I'm calling it #nerd_folk. It's on my tenor #ukulele although in hindsight the baritone might have been better as the main rhythm instrument (it's still in the mix...). It's late though and I can't be bothered to do that part again! #fuc

Lyrics

They had unfinished business in this life
So they didn't pass on to the other side
They'll torment you in all sorts of ways
While they try to punish you from beyond the grave

They've got ways to avenge your evil deeds
Like banging on your pipework while you try to sleep
There's so many things already drive you up the wall
So now I wonder who ya gonna call?

When they haunt you like
An unbalanced parenthesis
An unbalanced parenthesis
An unbalanced parenthesis would

You're going to regret causing so much pain
When they give mediums initials instead of their full name
You can't stand an apostrophe in the wrong position
So how will you cope with a phantom apparition

Who's going to haunt you like
An unbalanced parenthesis
An unbalanced parenthesis
An unbalanced parenthesis would

(Spooky solo)

They're going to haunt you like
An unbalanced parenthesis
An unbalanced parenthesis
An unbalanced parenthesis would

They're going to haunt you like
An unbalanced parenthesis
An unbalanced parenthesis
An unbalanced paren-

haha at the liner notes. the clever title attracted me out of your list of songs, and it was very kind of you to put the closing bracket. what an original and hooky chorus. has such a satisfying ring to it. the idea of using that as a concept for haunting style is inspired. great job!

Enjoyed this. The line about giving mediums initials particularly appealed to me.

i was so wrpped up in your fascinating lyrics that the uke breaks between the verses slowed down the story and i just wished you would get on eith it. the chorus was unusual and masterful phrase-making.

Man, where do I start! Sounds great, love the creepiness and silliness of the lyrics, the added instrumentation besides the uke, and the ending made me smile. Excellent track. My only gripe is that there isn't more of it! 👍

I was enjoying the uke and the unusual words when the synth came in and took it all to another level...great stuff!

Now this is quite a twist from the title going from punctuation to poltergeists. Quite a catchy chorus. Also a fun uke tune. I can imagine it being played at campfires.
