Maybe Never

Liner Notes

So I did a video this time, just guitar and voice. Everything else this year has been full production, so I'm trying to keep it simple just once. This song is about things in the past, not about my life right now.

I enjoy the production. So I'm sure I'll get back to it.

Lyrics

Every time I fall in love
There’s lessons to be learned
About others or myself
Sometimes fears confirmed

You took my breath away
A time or two
And oh I wanted
I wanted to be with you

Maybe it was never
Going to be forever
I’m not the love
Of your life
But we laughed, we wept
We placed our bets
And maybe we can part with just a few regrets

I still think of you
And I hope you’re well
Maybe I was not the one for you
but we could not tell

Don’t let this pass you by
Without a thought
We had a chance
And knew what we sought

Your guitar is really ringing out in a beautiful way. I am wondering if you are in an alternate tuning. Love those dissonant chords. I think it sounds great with just your vocals and guitar. Very relatable song about an unbalanced love. Pretty melody also.. I also enjoyed the video

strong song and beautiful in its simplicity, very fine performance Eric i love this one

Strong song! The feeling is there for sure, and so is the craft. I particularly like the space between laughed and wept and the tight rhyming in the chorus. And the guitar fills are beautiful and sound like integral parts of the piece.

This is beautiful, Eric! You capture so well such a poignant feeling. The whole arrangement is simple and the lyrics are direct, but they work so well. Love the video too!
