Do you know what you didn't need?

Liner Notes

It's with joy I share this one. I'm going to savely delve into the world of excitement :) It's a good feeling. And why not share it, maybe you get infected too. I am positive I am influenced by both some of you fawmers/50-90ers out there, as well as some disco song (the aha aha aha in here at some point), some brazilain rhythm I tend to really like, 'The Teenage guide to popularity')...

Anyway.... it took long... the song has at least 20 tracks in it. Multiple vocals, multiple guitars (though you'd not always identify it).

I am delighted by the response you gave me after posting the lyrics. Now it's here with music.

I still need to make this better (with different guitar sounds), but I'm prety satisfied so far. Headphones recommended. And hey, it's the weekend. Enjoy yours!

Lyrics

Well, hey, here
here's another act of kindness and spontaneousness
I'm doing so okay
and I want you to know
No one is going to mess me up today
no!
not my head
not my mind
not my soul

it's in the air (ha!)
it's in the air (ha!)
a thrill is what you need
a thrill
not some basic thrill
but something out of the ordinary

Someday it will arrive again
that perfect feeling of invincibility
you know it
ignite thy thrill
and familiar as ever it will be
that perfect feeling of invincibility
you'll understand the flow
you'll recognize the flow
you'll recognize the flow
today? today?

something close to nothing
something close to everything
something close to nothing
something close to everything
something close to nothing
is blowing my mind

Do you know what you didn't need
Do you know what you did't need?
In the haze of nothing
do you know what you didn't need?

it's unbelievable
can you imagine
what you have missed
what you've done without?

you'll understand the flow
you'll recognize the flow
maybe today?

It's here again, it's here again:
something close to nothing
something close to everything
something close to nothing
something close to everything
is blowing my mind

Do you know what you didn't need?
Do you know what you didn't need?
Do you know what you didn't need?
Do you know what you didn't need?

@sbs2018

Love the vocal delivery//attitude! It’s like the guitars have their own thing going on, which is so cool!

Well done and this sounds super!

@fuzzy

I really like your vocal delivery here for sure.
Great guitar lines all interweaving and working together.
Nice headphone mix.
Yeah, those guitars are making my ear holes happy.
I really really like this a lot.
I think this is an excellent tune, Ferry.

Love your vocals here Ferry! I like @Billwhite51’s description quite a bit. Exciting and hopeful music this one is🎉

I love the vocal effects here - they add a really weird sounding element to the music. It's all a bit like robotic European new wave, but with guitars instead of synthesizers! I like the little guitar squiggles before the three-minute mark, and that Middle Eastern sounding lead guitar. Trippy, weird and with flashes of other, stranger worlds!

so much going on here and it all meshes together so well and with such style. from devo to elliot smith without a hitch....aactually a pretty experiemental piece that is as accessible as a pop song.

I like the guitars, the playing and the tone. That kick drives this very well... actually it's cool how the rhythm track drives the song though it's not especially highlighted. The guitars add some energy in their parts. There's more to this arrangement then is first apparent. I really like the "In the haze of nothing" section.

Bring on the joy! Very cool track. To me it had a kind of Flaming Lips vibe to it - not specifically, but just more in the general psychedelic joyfulness of the enterprise. Very nice work man!

Ooo yes! This is fantastic! Thanks for telling me! Such a treat!

@wolfkier

This is very cool. I imagine it's something like a young Talking Heads could do at a live gig. Good fun, audio candy on all sides, and it's nice to hear you bringing the vocal stylings! :)
Love that dead stop change to it's here again. Just fantastic. Well done.
