Six feet deep

Liner Notes

Written to a fearless prompt. It felt like a show tune, something I have not done much. So was fun

Lyrics

Six feet Deep

I once had strong views
I waved the flag up high
I gave out all my opinions
Never let an argument lie

There was always a cause to fight for
Scrapping tooth and nail
Always believed truth would out
Never thought that it would fail

But my ideas are now gone and dead
They’ve finally gone to sleep
Resting beneath the ground
Sunken six feet deep

I woke up one day
I knew that something was wrong
I had no more fight in me
My passions all had gone

I really tried to carry on
Even though i felt like Hell
I wish things were different
But i am now just an empty shell

But my ideas are now gone and dead
They’ve finally gone to sleep
Resting beneath the ground
Sunken six feet deep
ab
Time waits for no one!
And my time is gone!

The story of life in general I think, a constant fight to fend off apathy. FIGHT! It's important. great job and great words.

Very pretty and powerful. I feel like this vascillates (or is it oscillates?) between a song of sadness and hope. The death of old (and maybe over time, bad) ideas is actually kinda happy. I enjoyed the track a lot. Loved the horn parts.

stately, sad and with real gravity-- the music, lyric and arrangement all works together on this powerful piece-- nice work!

I like the lyrical idea of burying one's ideas six feet under. A great, if depressing, ode to aging! Lovely piano and vocals and mournful horns.

I have a technical question. What is ab? Third line from bottom.

Very relatable. Some choice lyric lines: Never let an argument lie/always a cause to fight for. Sometimes we just get tired of it all and don't want to fight any more. This is the kind of song that gets better and means more with each listen.

the ideas are put across clearly, but i dont know what you think of this character. maybe thats a good thing. i like to write characters with opposing view from myself. but this song could apply to anybody, as the ideas of any generation become archaic when that generation has passed away.
