I love the clean look of the new site! Well done everyone involved. Thrilled to finally see it and poke around in it and to start the process of reconnecting with so many friends of so many years. I'm very much looking forward to the Summer of great music it will be the playground for.
It's probably staring me right in the face, but could someone please kindly tell me where to find my "watchlist"?
Thanks in advance.
I guess if there isn't a post like this already, any "stupid questions" and "directions needed" questions might be posted here...
Thanks @metalfoot . I look forward to it reappearing, when I'm sure it will be some where obvious . At least now I know that it's not quite there to find.
OK. questions 2 & 3:
* At what time exactly EST does the song posting open on the 4th?
* Since the new site is now linked to FAWM website coding, does it have (or plan to have) an RSS feed so all soundboard messages, forum replies, and comments can go directly to my email client. As is possible with FAWM. If so, what is the feed URL?
Same happened when I posted on another thread, then saw someone else already posted the same, so I deleted mine. The #shadow_last_poster (see what I did there in case someone wants to write about it ;)) disappears when the next person comments.
Looks like you can't post an embedded photo, looks like just the hyperlink shows.
Which is Okay... if people are really interested they would click the hyperlink to see the photo on the web.
Maybe a future endeaver perhaps ?
Is it a bug or a feature?
On my smartphone the people I followed are highlighted in mint green in the FAWMers list. But not all of them as I figured out on their profiles. I had to unfollow and follow some just to get the highlight.
@billwhite51 There's a definite limit of characters for lyrics. The lyric sheet script of the GIMME15 I published is 11 pages long for a 17 minute song and I couldn't cut/paste more than 1 page of it into the lyrics box. Neither here or on youtube. On bandcamp there seems to be no restriction so I pointed interested parties to that page for text if they wanted it. .
Hi all, maybe I'm the only one having this issue (note different Username), but I can't log into my old account using either my 50/90 Username/Password or my FAWM Username/Password. I know others have had issues like this in the past on the old FAWM site, not sure if it's a gremlin left over from that… but at any rate, I would like to be able to log into my usual account (at which point I'd ask the Admins/Mods to blow away this "Dummy" account, please). If the Admins or Mods need to reach me offsite, my e-mail is darbyspicer at gmail dot com. Otherwise, I'll keep checking the forums to see if anyone else has had this issue & see if any solutions/troubleshoots are offered.
Here's a question- at the 'my fawm' part of the site, I get lots of 'new song you follow' notifications (I follow alot of people over the years!) and if someone posts on my soundboard I get that, BUT, I don't get anything there when I have a new comment on one of my own songs.
Instead, I have to go to my own profile, and look at the number of comments on each song and think- hmmm, did that number change from what it was a few hours (or minutes, lol!) ago? and then see if there's a new comment based on the number of comments.
is that the way it works now? (and no worries if its that way, just wondering if I'm missing something)
Nah, @mikeskliar, I think that's the way it will be for now.
I'm starting to tag folks in the comments of their own songs so they will see it on their "My FAWM" page. I think @stephenwordsmith suggested that workaround.
I know this isn't that important right now, but I miss the icons next to the songs. The ones that showed "lyrics only", "Favourite", etc. I've already mentioned the "NSFW" tag, and I guess these can all be done at the same time?
As I said, there are probably far more important features to add first. 😀
Here's a question I have for the team (@elesimo@burrsettles etc) . Any way we can get to designate certain songs of ours as 'favorites/want more comments ' as we used to? I have this song I just posted which I'm particularly enthused about .... :)
I've been tagged in a forum post, and my username was capitalized. Clicking the link does take me to my profile, but the post doesn't appear in my list of notifications. I don't know if it just takes a while (the post was made 7 minutes ago) or if the capital letter is somehow preventing it from showing up at all. If it's the latter, it seems like something the site builders should be informed of.
Still wondering if the "Comments given" metric is in the works; I feel kinda lost without the number. I have no idea where I am with commenting, but I feel like I'm commenting less without it.
with the current filter options on the songs page it is no longer possible to filter by fawmlings + zongs - i like doing that combo sometimes and they used to be on separate filters so i could do that. A minor point but it might be easy??? it is a kind and fawm-like option ;) (or to be able to order the list by number of comments to achieve the same thing)
Howdy, I wonder why I don't get notifications of all people I added. Today somebody I do not follow uploaded a collab with somebody I follow and I haven't found it in my feed! I just found the other song that person uploaded. Is it a bug or is my lengthy watchlist just crashing your system 😆
@mikeb Not yet. But, this year they started over on song numbers so if you go to the song page and hover over the link to the most recent song, or click the link and look at the URL, then that number is the same as the total number of songs.
This is not a question so much as a request to be added to the list (if it isn't there already). I just noticed that songs are not numbered on our profiles. While not a necessary feature, it could be useful to help people keep track as they approach 50.
FYI: My notification issue occurred again. Just found a freshly uploaded collab that has not been on my list. If I could check my watchlist manually, I wouldn't bother. You may be still working on it @elesimo
Hey @fuzzy or @candle, I see you discuss posting pictures above. How does one do that? Just using image html tags in the post? (I could experiment, but thought it might spare site visitors some strange "test" posts if I could get some sense in advance.) Thanks!
Hey, @odilongreen, it's super easy!
You can just drop the URL right in the Liner Notes/Lyrics/Bio/whatever, and you're good to go!
Or you could save the picture to, say, FAWM File Hosting, and then post it from there.
It only works with .jpg files (and a few other kinds, too, I think?).
I don't think the size matters; as far as I can tell this site automatically sizes the pictures? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
So glad to be able to post pictures!!!
Yes, More Pictures Folks!
Since we can't (yet) have our own pic for our avatar. Side Note: that still throws me a little bit... If I go to someone's page I am not familiar with and see a Piano, I automatically think the Fawmer is a keyboard player. Then I remember, aha... the Avatar is Not always representative of the Fawmer.
I will get more used to this (not a big deal, mods).
Thanks for All your hard work.
I am enjoying my 2nd 50-90!
@vivalarayna Thank you, ah there is the option hidden! During FAWM there are podcasters who play songs and they didn't care about privacy settings. We had one checkbox for "Enable download and broadcasting" before, and I never liked that label because people may enable downloads without broadcasting. Right now I cannot even disable the downloads. I'm on the rather restrictive side, because I upload drafts for songs that will become final in some months, so I am completely against making them public before finished.
@nadine - I'm right there with you. It's on the list of reasons I now only post lyrics. More control over my product. I'm not sure what the solution is, but completely agree we need to have more say in how our demos are used.
