Alternative rock / spoken rap / experimental artists ??

Is there a genre that mixes alternative rock or indie rock with spoken/rap vocals, while also doing some experimental stuff in there as well ?

Closest I can think to explain it, is something like The Mars Volta but with rap/poetry somehow mixed in like Mark E Smith

I think there's a lot like that, but the only one I can seem to remember in a "all songs are poetry" vibe is listener.

I remember Patti Smith did something like that sometimes.

Try Dry Cleaning. Album is 'New Long Leg'. Start with the single 'Scratchcard Lanyard', More on the indie rock side than experimental, but spoken word and might be of interest to you

For a more experimental take, try Life Without Buildings. Vocals are mostly spoken but kind of cut-up poetry rather than straighforward lyrics, only released one album but it's one of my all-time favourites.

Not really rap but not really singing but have you ever checked out Art Brut?

all good suggestions - cheers peeps !
dry cleaning are cool, i like scratchcard lanyard
loving the vocal stuff in Life Without Buildings. it keeps the songs fresh without veering too far away from the indie pop formula
liking art brut too, it has a great edge to it and those vocals are great
listener i had to listen a few times, was difficult to get passed the singing but ive grown to like it
ill be checking out patti smith. ive heard some of hers before and liked it, forgot to check her out in awhile so will do..
i know Leonard Cohen does a spoken style if I'm not mistaken. any of his thats good for experimental musicianship/design ?
