End of the world songs?

#endoftheworld
I'm neither pro- nor con-superskirmishes, but in that thread a particular point needed to be strongly made, except it was WAY off-topic. @vivalarayna & @johnstaples cited a rogue asteroid as a problem solver/world ender. But there's none about right now and besides, we can do something about them. No, it'll be a supervolcano on the equator so both hemispheres can suffer. And sooner rather than later. Of course, there's wonderful choices in other recent volcanics at higher latitudes--Yellowstone of course, but also half of Victoria and Southeaster South Australia and hey, New Zealand is just priming itself. Soooo, "this is the way world ends" songs? BANG/(whimper)

How does the world end? Silly question. Haven't you seen Terminator? Judgement Day. AI takes over the world. :P

@fuzzy

Ah, it's the rogue asteroids you *don't* see that will get you...

all my songs are end of the world songs....but only for the current generations....the future will be one of new worlds. either here ot elsewhere

When mankind realizes we are all living in a simulation, complex human societies will collapse and as @valeriecox stated, AI takes over the world. Makes for a good song!

@jorh

Thanks for the prompt @timfatchen - sparked some creativity and led to my first ‘end of the world’ lyric. I’ve gone with a ‘nature fighting back against the damage we’ve caused’ theme, as my chosen theory to bump us all off.

I’ve tagged it #endoftheworld - if anyone else writes some let me know and I’ll check it out - I’m sure it’ll lead to some thought provoking ideas!!

We were discussing the potential anarchy that a superskirmish in the current forum configuration could unleash. It was TOTALLY on-topic! 🤣

@gubna

I have one from Feb, but it was more about whether I was gonna make it or not. I'm still here though.

The world's still got some time left! bBe kind with yourselves. It could get rocky here, but just take a deep breath and go outside in the sun, or fog, and stare at the sky. let it go.

then come back in and funnel your emotions into song.

Great theme for a song. I've done one before which was called 'Six Degrees (And Gone)', which was sung by an amazing Finnish singer, Parmia Vaala. https://www.soundblend.com/store/release/876382

Might have a go at writing another end of world scenario

@andrea

I see @billwhite51 "my songs are end of the world songs....but only for the current generations....the future will be one of new worlds. either here ot elsewhere"

You are an alien. Take me to your planet :)

[avatar]

@andrea i would be delighted to take you back with me, but i have failed in my mission here and will not be allowed back to my home planet/

[avatar]
@andrea

Oh My @billwhite51. What is your mission? Can I help in any way? Is your planet nice?

[avatar]

@billwhite51 we all fail in our self-perceived mission. We know what we coulda/shoulda/woulda done if we'd made different choices. But those near us may see it differently. Who can judge themselves accurately? That way lies hubris and megalomania on the one hand, despair and self-annihilation on the other. There's enough annihilation going around for all to share without adding to it!

[avatar]

I thought I'd have a go at this, in my own odd little way. Here's one of the less plausible ways the world might end. But, you know, take care anyway... https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/songs/2231

[avatar]

[avatar]

ive done a few end of one persons world songs.. one being called Summer ( a skirmish )

when you all make your end-of-world songs, what do you do to begin ? visualize a brand new event we might notve considered such a scenario ? or go for true blockbusters, aliens invade / robot consciousness and so on ?

i wanna know if you watch films/tv shows too, or media of this sort. cause it doesnt occur to me much to do this. i guess whats on my mind comes out, so im presenting that may be something people here think about ?
