My name is Jared. I've been writing songs since I was 14, 15 years old so back in 2002, all kinds of generes, most of them were horrible. My best period was a four year run between 2010-2013. I stopped writing in 2013 and started again in 2020 as a way to deal with a bad, bad breakup. I've noticed real growth in my writing. I'm not a very good singer, I can't read sheet music, and I can only play a few chords on the acoustic. I have no interest in becoming a performing artist, I'm just a songwriter...or do we call it a lyric writer? I realize the irony here is to get my songs cut, I would have to perform them on the demo. Yikes!

I'm a divorced Father of three who works from home now so I have more time to write. I hope to make friends here and find encouragement and possible collaborations.

Welcome! You're in for a blast! Like most people said the website has way more activity during the challenges (February and northern hemisphere summer), but we also have a Facebook page and a year-long Zoom chat every Tuesday (today!).

Looking forward to your songs!

Welcome new friend. This is a great and welcoming place. It's not a contest. When the time comes just post what you've got and enjoy.

I agree with all the wonderful FAWMers below - welcome!! This place is amazing. This February will be my 13th FAWM and I look forward to it so much. Such an incredible community and this is the place to help yourself get better! All skill levels and styles are represented. I think you'll love it. Looking forward to hearing what you come up with! :)

Hey hey! You've come to the right place...the most supportive community on the internet. The things I can't do are legion, too, and I've been part of this community for 10 years. I always have fun, though

Welcome! You can post just lyrics on the website (or rather, when the 90 days are running, now shut till next year). If you would like others to try putting them to music, say you are open to collaboration.

This site will close shortly and the February Album Writing Month site will open later, with you bio and account on it (you might need to create a new password) and that's a very full on and scramble moth of February and a great stimulus. But only intended for what you actually write in February. Try it, it's great fun and very supportive and can be remarkably productive.

In the meantime, say "hello" on the forums now to pick up at least some contacts before this site closes and the other opens in January!

welcome, not much action at the moment being out of season, but there are a few here and it's great you said hi. Lots of support and collaboration opportunities come February. It is perfectly possible for your lyrics to find music without you having to perform, quite a few people are lyrics only (or music only), but also plenty of room for you to expand your own playfulness with your own music.
