@brisk

Ha ha, thanks for the comment, glad you liked it. The last note was relatively quiet, and by the time it is fading out in earnest you can't really hear how much I'm wibbling and wobbling to keep it going. Or can you?

[avatar]
@owl

Thank you for the sweet comment!

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks so much for your lovely comment on Tears of the Shamed, that was awesome. I might finish off a couple of the other snippets I have lying around the next couple of days, if I can be bothered...

[avatar]

Thank you, Rich! I hope your back feels better soon. I find core-strengthening exercises to be the only thing that helps in the long run. In the short run, hang in there, dude!

[avatar]

Thanks for the kind words on Steps of Hope, it's been fun to dabble in lighter, uplifting songs as well as some darker, more brooding pieces this 50/90!

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks for your compliments on Upon a Dream. It is a dream working with both Nadia and Justin. So glad you liked our song :)

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you! Yes, these are only 6 recordings... but producer voodoo layering techniques on guitars and vocals. Still, not my usual 30 track arrangement... It's been fun to work with less.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Merci, Rich.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thanks, Rich, for that vote of confidence on ILYE. Justin is a perfectionist and may still wind up tweaking the mix before it's all over, but I think he pretty much nailed it.

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks for listening to Over The Trees - in my mind it's death-releated imagining, but since the death of the author, all bets are off - I'm pretty sure there can be something related to loneliness. This 50/90 has really helped my confidence with lyrics. I'm not sure that I've improved significantly, but I'm much less concerned with getting them right or wrong, and just getting something down that is on some level coherent.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Oh, boy, Rich--your kind compliments about Sometimes a Woman has me floating on cloud nine. The more I listen to it, even as simple as it is, the more I feel like it might be one of my best songs ever, so I was hoping it might get some traction with folks who can dig a bit of country/Americana. You've made my day, sir, and I thank you sincerely.

[avatar]
@kristi

Hi Rich. No, no specific person in mind when writing If You See. Actually it started as putting each "sense" into the verses. Someone feeling "down" just came out of that. Thanks for your nice comments!

[avatar]

Hi, Rich, Glad you liked Gwyn and Georgie's duet on Not Your Kind of Guy , and that you enjoyed the lyrics, too. Thank you for your comments!

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you, Rich! When I heard the duduk the chord progression just happened. Real interesting vibes this time! I'm glad you enjoyed!

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks for your positive comments on Take it All. I stole that hook from Stephen's original lyrics. It really jumped out at me, and the rest came together rather quickly (at least for me -lol). It was so enjoyable working with Stephen. He like to try new ideas until it feels right, which I think is great 😀

[avatar]

Thanks, Rich! As always, I appreciate you checking out my tunes! I hope to end the month with a few more. Thanks for the encouragement!

[avatar]
@nadine

Thanks for listening to the new version of the "Quarterlife Blues". I'm happy that it's taking a direction you enjoy. I'm so psyched to listen to the final version, but it will take a while....

[avatar]
@brisk

aw, thanks for your kind words - you are my rock! Though when you really hate a song, please say because that will be really interesting. I'll let the child know that you liked her voice. I think her voice is lovely, but then how could I not?

[avatar]

Wow, that guitar is smoking on Feed the Algorithm. I'm so happy with the song. Thank you for bringing it to life.

[avatar]

Thanks for checking out "With You, My Friend", glad you dug it!

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks for the nice words on Lighter - it's really nice when people say nice things! I'm not doing very well at listening to other people's songs at the mo.

[avatar]

Rich, thank you so much for the lovely comment. It means so much to me that you've shared my songs with your wife! I really appreciate knowing that I've connected with you through my songwriting 😄

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks, Rich, for your compliments on When I had it All. Gwyn turned my lyrics into an amazing song. I catch myself singing it around the house all the time. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

[avatar]
@jeff9

And ditto for checking out A Second Look, Rich. Cheers.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thanks, Rich, for the kind words about Okay, Not Okay, Okay. Had to step out of my country lane for a minute and try to find a better way to serve those cool lyrics.

[avatar]

❤️

[avatar]

Thanks Rich!! I do enjoy fingerpicking styles on the guitar. I used to play a lot of rock with my guitar teacher, Tony, when I was a teen. I thought he was cool AF playing Van Halen, David Gilmour, etc etc. I was obsessed with the band Tool at the time. LOL. I need to practice!! Love your guitar sound--so good!

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks for your thoughtful comments on Wake Up Charlie. I liked the idea of a wakeup call of sorts, and the headstone seemed like a good way to go. Glad you like it!

[avatar]
@brisk

Ha ha, thanks so much for digging Poopy Pants (that sounds wrong). Trying to be me - really me - in a song *and* making it something that other people can enjoy too - is really hard. With his one I had a bit too much with an eye on the audience I think. I wonder what would happen if I just tried to put listeners out of my mind entirely.... my guess it would be completely unlistenable.... maybe I should give it a go...

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you! I think I got the mics wrong, but I've seen your position, too. Still thinking about buying a big condenser first, though I really love stereophonic takes.

Thanks also for your comment! It's easier for me to participate on skirmishes as lyricist. Setting up an arrangement with virtual instruments takes too much time. And I just can't do a one take with my guitar or piano. I'm happy you enjoyed my little social commentary 😉

[avatar]

Rich, I am very happy that you liked I Call Myself a Gardener. You sure know how to craft a good comment! Thank you for listening and giving us a thumbs up! Means a lot.

[avatar]
@andrea

Sounds good. Hope I'll see you back in the Muse after 50/90.

[avatar]
@nadine

Gotcha! Sounds like you're doing X/Y technique. The mixing sounds good. I'm just curious of microphoning positions. Maybe when I buy stuff in future...

[avatar]
@andrea

Back at ya 😀 If you have time, let me know if you want to collab again? My timeframe is anytime 😁

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks for checking out my skirmish write Gone Fishing. Your comments gave me a smile this morning. I think I'm going to spend some more time on this one. Hope I can make it even better 😁

[avatar]
@jeff9

Damn, Rich--I'm so chuffed at your comments about Workaholic Country Blues. Thank you for such encouraging words, amigo.

[avatar]
@gm7

Thx Rich for the kind words on Blue Note Manhattan. How are you going these days..covid symptoms gone??

[avatar]

Thanks so much, Rich! Your comment on my collab with @gm7 really encourages me to try that vocal more. Btw, I sure hope I can make it to the White Mountains in the autumn to hike one day. Hope the leaves are gorgeous this fall! Enjoy that fresh air.

[avatar]
@nadine

Oh yes, I enjoyed @doggolito approach on my lyrics. So fresh and heavy!
.... and also thanks for your words on the "Workaholic Country Blues".

[avatar]
@andrea

Thank for your generous and kind comments on Fall With Me. It took a couple weeks, but it finally came together. I am very happy you like it!

[avatar]

Rich, So glad you liked Come Back. David managed to bring my vision for this song into reality, and it sounds better than I could have imagined. Thanks for your comments. I'm so glad he was willing to work with me on this.
And another thank you for your comments on Inconvenient Lovers. Traveling back in time...yes. I wonder if things would be different today. It is a fun song and glad you enjoyed it.

[avatar]
@andrea

Hi Rich! So good to hear from you again. Your comments are so thoughtful and positive. Thank you for each one 😊

[avatar]

Heeeey richaaaay, you back? Thanks for the catch up comments dude, much appreciated!! Hope you're good.

[avatar]

Hey thanks man for the uplifting comment on Bulls! Stoked to check out more of your tunes here!

[avatar]
@oswlek

Thanks, Rich, for giving "Tea" a listen and the kind comment. Really appreciate it.

[avatar]

Thanks for dropping by and taking a little listen - sorry for putting waaay (™ you) too much in there for a casual listen. More is more. Or less is more? More or less.

[avatar]
@nadine

Thanks, Rich! Yes, It's been a funny coincidence. We're discussing how to proceed. In any case it will be a new song on our profiles.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thanks much, Rich, for the encouraging comments on Cranky Old Men (and on Predator and Prey). You are most kind.

[avatar]

I see you also commented on Cranky Old Men. Thanks! So glad you liked the song. Jeff was a natural for this one! So glad he took the lyric and ran with it.

[avatar]

Glad you like But I Did with the drums added. And yes, I agree with you that Kate's vocal melody really drives the song. Thanks for listening and commenting.

[avatar]

“Shy Girl” is a bit sad, isn’t it? Maybe she needs a comeback song - lol! I do like the interplay of sad lyrics with happy music. The Mavericks are so brilliant at that!

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the comment on my collab with Simon!

[avatar]
@nadine

All cool, Rich. I wish I could trade a bit of my DAW voodoo for guitar picking skills.
The drumset you chose is awesome! I would be unable to find something equivalent in my libraries, and I have trouble working with sparse arrangements. I just noticed that most drummers have 2-3 cymbals in their sets and that there are different variations to play, so strike on top, side, hold right after hitting.
As for "I'm Alive" - I'd rather listen to a emotional scream in a wrong pitch than a emotionless performance that's technically right. Leave it as is.

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you. Are your kids teenagers? I hope they don't experience much of this!

[avatar]
@jeff9

Oh, I meant you nailed it with your comment that the delivery was special on that piece by @jeustan and @crisp1. Sorry for the confusion.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Oops, sorry about that, Rich. I’ll fix it.

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks Rich! Your comments mean a lot to me. I always appreciate your support 😀

[avatar]

Thanks for the comment on “The Photo Whisperer” - all too common, for sure!

[avatar]

Hi, richaaaay, I'm finally learning to put all 4 "a's" in there! Thanks for your comments on You Take Me There, both lyrics and music. All input is welcome.

[avatar]
@lennie

Thank you for the comment on ‘breathe the feeling’. I wondered whether vocals and words belonged there. I’m glad you think so :)

[avatar]

Thanks Rich! I have a Fender strat that doesn’t get much love these days. Maybe I’ll get proper equipment for her to be recorded more often! A guitar comment means a lot coming from you! I’m glad you enjoyed @mctown’s lyrics that set the mood…it was a fun collab!

[avatar]

Thanks for your comments on my rope-a-dope lyrics. Really appreciate you taking the time to read and comment. :)

[avatar]
@katmtl

Hello! Thank you so much for listening to my song! Happy 50/90! I am looking forward to hearing your songs!

[avatar]
@gm7

Thx , much appreciated.....it was fun track to do and I love acoustic guitars!!

[avatar]
@brisk

Oh, so glad you liked today's song. I had written it off so it's nice that everyone is being so complimentary so far! The melodies in this one took a long time - I was listening to the instrumental part on repeat for hours to try to come up with something interesting, so glad that it worked for you.

[avatar]

Hi @richaaaay, Glad you came back to listen to But I Did (with music.) I thought Kate did a smashing job with it and really made the most out of the lyrics.

[avatar]
@nadine

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed my rant. Wish I knew why I go punk or metal when I'm angry and nervous 😆

[avatar]
@jeff9

Cheers, Richaaay. Thanks for giving a listen to "Second Time Round" and the kind words. That pedal steel sound just fills things up so nicely on ones like this that I can't resist using it.

[avatar]
@gregwere

Hey thanks for your lovely comments on a couple of my songs much appreciated.

[avatar]

thanks Rich

[avatar]
@nadine

Thanks, Rich! I'm happy that you enjoyed my rip off! I still don't feel confident with singing, as I dislike the sound of my head voice, lack of control and autotune everything quite heavily. I just do to explain my ideas. FAWM is the only place where I feel safe enough to show my drafts.

[avatar]

Yo, right back at you regarding YOUR comments and YOUR music!
I still got more of yours to listen to...for whatever reason, I get overwhelmed by all the listening and commenting I need to do. I end up just closing the site and going to hide under my blanket lol

[avatar]
@gm7

Are you interested in collab I have a different sort of song in mind with ad lib and singing combined
You have time?? EM me.

[avatar]

Thanks so much for your encouragement! It really helps me keep writing!

[avatar]
@wacha

Hey Rich! I'm hanging in there, thanks for checking on me. I am struggle a lot with the fatigue and for once really listening to my body so it's a lot of laying around.

[avatar]
@brisk

Well, with the exception of Ithaca which I started noodling out this morning, the rest were already done, or in need of the smallest twiddles. I just had to relisten to them a bit to see if there was anything I wanted to change. I think I'm done now though!

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks sir, sorry to do a tease about the "original and best" - but it is quite lovely. She had a bit of a sore throat so sounds rather husky and serious. She never sings usually so it was great to capture it Regarding the words: the first half of the first verse and the chorus were all her words - but the second half of the first verse and the second verse were just me improvising around her theme. She had a lot more in the recording but I was pretty ruthless at cutting her two minutes down so only used the verse fragment and the chorus fragment, and the coda.

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the listen and comment on my collab with Geoff!

[avatar]
@brisk

Ha ha, glad you enjoyed Heaven Without Us - and I'm smiling at your effusive comments. The secret? Well, there's a few. I'm not going to bed til after 1 now it is 50/90. Also my wife is a very tolerant woman and puts up with a lot of song-related nonsense invading her living room! If I thought it would be at all instructive or entertaining I'd think about doing a long form video showing songwriting from initial idea to final mix, but I don't think it would be very interesting for much of the 20 hour running time...

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks for listening to Ithica! Yes, I wondered whether I could just keep copying and pasting the last section, but adding a new bit indefinitely. But after a while I started to feel a bit guilty! Also I think my skills with a compressor are rather suspect, so it was starting to get a bit hairy towards the end...

[avatar]
@aniya_ph

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment to Stuck (Half an Apology). I appreciate you listening!

[avatar]

Glad you liked the lyrics for “Look Sharp”; not married to country at all as a genre, excited to see what you might come up with so feel free to take a stab. Love your guitar work. Email is on my profile if you want to discuss!

[avatar]

Rich, Thanks for commenting on the lyrics for But I Did. You said they gave you the "deep dark blues." That was the effect this guy had on the protagonist, so that's what I was going for. It will be fun to see how Kate interprets the lyrics in her rendition. Stay tuned.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Wow, Rich, I'm blown away by your generous comments on I'm Not Sick. Many thanks, sir.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Man, thank you for the encouraging words about Honey You Already Are. @nancycunning writes lyrics that just sing themselves.

[avatar]
@nadine

Thanks for your kind words, Rich! Yeah, I recorded most of the guitar bits with my phone, send to computer, converted them, and applied some voodoo on my DAW. You find creative solutions when you're not able to work the way you want...

[avatar]
@cts

You know I was waiting around for that collab to happen, don't cha? I love what you and Wobbie have working. 😀

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thank you, Richaaay! Means a lot to hear positive comments from such a talented musician & songwriter.

[avatar]

Hi, Rich! Thanks for commenting on Jeff's alternative version of I Hate Love. That man has some serious talent, I'd say. Glad you thought it made for fun listening!

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks for the The Box I'm In comment. I wish I'd spent more time on the verse and bridge, but for me it was all about the chorus, which turned into a bit of a Bohemian Rhapsody writing marathon... Right, to bed, I'm shattered.

[avatar]

Thanks for your comments on Baby, What About Me. It was a very fun 3-way collab, and Georgie's country delivery was really fun to listen to!

[avatar]

Richaaaay, Thanks for checking out Broken. I agree that David nailed it on Broken. Ii don't know how he does it, but he just keeps doing it!

[avatar]
@sunfire

Hey, Rich! Thanks for commenting on Fireflies, Train of Life, I've Been Waiting and Armchair Psychiatrist. Hope we can collaborate at some point!

[avatar]

Rich, thanks pard, for reviewing "Highway 59".

[avatar]

Rich, thanks pard, for reviewing "Highway 59".

[avatar]

Rich, thanks pard, for reviewing "Highway 59".

[avatar]

Thank you, Rich!! 😄

[avatar]

Glad you had a chance to listen to Baby, What About Me. I was delighted with Georgie's treatment of the lyric and JoeyMcMichael's backing track. It was a fun collab!

[avatar]
@andrea

Thank you, Rich, 😀😀😀

[avatar]
@steffan

I think you said it best! It a very clear, honest sounding guitar. Sounds great! What brand is it?

[avatar]
@aniya_ph

Hi! Thank you for checking out Rain Lily! I appreciate your kind words. :)

[avatar]
@nadine

Thanks for your kind words, Rich! I started exactly one year ago. But I guess I have the advantage that it's my 2nd instrument, that I already knew how to write / read tabs and had some theoretical instrumental knowledge from working with other people. But I have to learn chords, scales, techniques, everything....

[avatar]
@cts

Refresh my memory on that convo, brohim. I'm all kinds of forgetful these days.

[avatar]
@brisk

Yay! Last time we started with my random blabbering about delicious, life-giving water. Do you want to return the "favour" and come up with some words? Another thing I really like to do is come up with a couple of different chord progressions and give them to someone else to do. Whatever you like really!

[avatar]

I am absolutely blown away and humbled by the fact you've listened to the whole saga so far! And even more humbled by your comments. Thank you so much! 😀

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks for the thumbs up on Stay Happy! Though I wasn't kidding, this is total fakery using NI's SESSION GUITARIST – ELECTRIC VINTAGE. I *might* be able to make something that sounded vaguely like this, but it would take days probably. The great thing about this plug in is you can just bash it out in seconds. Ooh, I see you've got one up, sorry for missing this...

[avatar]
@nadine

I got that double meaning, but I don't react to the content publically, like I don't say any word about politics. I think that FAWMers are open-minded and grown-up people, so they can decide if they take it seriously, like it, hate it, or just laugh. Maybe you could tag it NSFW in the title.

[avatar]

Thank you Rich!! I've always appreciated your encouraging words. Your profile pic is a bass! Perhaps you'll have to rock out a bass-heavy song this summer? Have a lovely songwriting season!

[avatar]
@nadine

Itadakimasu! I look forward to what you cook!

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks for commenting! Awaiting with bated breath your offerings. No pressure obviously. Opportunities not obligations, that kind of thing.

[avatar]
@gm7

Waiting for your stuff...I'm watching!

[avatar]
@cts

Hey buddy! Thanks for swinging by the factory. Much appreciated. You might want to think of 8 bars of something. Trust me. It will be magnificent.

[avatar]

Thanks again for listening and liking. You give me the smiles!

[avatar]

Duuuuude! How goes it! Ready to jam soon?

[avatar]

Do some music!!!! :-)

[avatar]
@brisk

I've said before, but your kind, positive comments are basically what I dream of people saying when they hear my songs.

The only problem is I might start to self-sabotage by deliberately writing songs to mess with you and challenge even your patience and good will. Yes, that's an idea...

[avatar]
@wacha

Thank you for the kind words on "Infinite Break"!

[avatar]

thanks Richaaaay Richaaaay

[avatar]

Thank you’s for the listens Rich!! Looking forward to hearing your creative output this summer. I still have Hit Man stuck in my head from February!!!

[avatar]
@andrea

Hi Rich, I would be delighted if you wanted to collaborate on She's My Wildflower. I am excited to see what you come with. Let me know if anything needs tweaking. I am happy to make changes as needed. Thank you :)

[avatar]
@brisk

Yay! Glad you're around. And glad you liked Second Chances. I really hate it now for some reason, with a visceral disgust, but hopefully that's going to pass soon. I like these song marathons because they make me finish words, but on the downside I often (as here) just come up with a line that sounds enough like a line from a song to move on, then I move on - there's no underlying sense to it. But if I've beguiled you with my evil ways then I am happy!

[avatar]
@nuj4x

Richaaaay, thank you for not only listening to my song "Hype Man", but also for playing it for your daughter. Please let her know that if she likes the female singer from "Hype Man", she can hear her on another one of my songs called "Worth the Wait". You did me a great favor in not only listening yourself, but introducing your daughter to my music. Thank you so much.

[avatar]

Ah, double stops. So that’s what they’re called!! Had heard the term, didn’t know what they were. Thanks man. (Probably shouldn’t flaunt my pathetic lack of knowledge in a public forum 😂)

[avatar]
@djtjb

Thank you for the comments Rich! Can't wait to hear what you got coming this summer! And hopefully soon I'll get this fever down. It's like 4 days straight over 100, not sure I've ever had a fever last that long. But luckily I'm not having trouble breathing or really have any coughing or anything else, so I can't complain too much. Again looking forward to those signature @richaaaay sounds!

[avatar]
@andrea

Yes, let's make a plan to collaborate! You can email me with ideas. I'll do the same :)

[avatar]

Hi Rich!
Thank you so much for your kind comments. They really mean a lot to me. 😄

[avatar]
@nadine

Happy 50/90 Rich!

[avatar]

Damn, I was going to do the “heeeeey richaaaay” line but @wobbiewobbit beat me to it. Happy 5090-ing my friend 🙌

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks for my first comment! It made me laugh.

I'm looking forward to hearing your songs. Hit me up if you want to collab on anything :)

[avatar]

heeeeeey richaaaaay good to see you thanks for your comment and have a great 50/90. see you soon to discuss collab!

[avatar]
@cts

Sooo...what's happening in YOUR neck o' the woods?
