panch

I'm looking forward to a creative few months, I've no idea where inspiration might take me but that's half (or even most) of the fun.
Things are a bit busier now post-covid so the challenge is even more intense to hit the 50.

I've loved collabing with you this 5090, and yes, I'll jump at the chance to do some more songs on FAWM or the next 5090 or sometime in between. PS. Corporate Man is brilliant!

[avatar]

Hi, panch. Thanks for listening to, and commenting on. Criminy, Jake! It sure was a fun song to do, and I thought Tuesday Gray really did a fantastic job on that pop punk style. It was a really fun collab, and I'm glad you liked it.

[avatar]
@brisk

Ditto, thanks so much for your thoughtful and kind comments over the past however many weeks - much appreciated. Thanks for the comparisons to St Paul - he's obviously a bit of a hero so I lap that stuff up.

Can't play the bass for toffee though. I was a bass player who experienced, in the words of Ben Folds Five "citing artistic differences / the band broke up in May, and in June reformed without me / and they've got a different name"...!

[avatar]

Thanks! I shall begin my Family odyssey...

[avatar]

Do you know, I've never heard Family before. Where's the best place to start? I'm just listening to My Friend The Sun (because it's the first song on Spotify) and enjoying it very much, but if you have any recommendations let me know. And thanks for the kind comment, really means a lot mate πŸ‘

[avatar]

Panch, So glad you enjoyed Not Your Kind of Guy! I think Gwyn & Georgie did a great job on it, and they make everything look easy! Thank you, too, for your kind comment on my page. P.S. I'm enjoying listening to I Call Myself a Gardener...you really nailed that one! πŸ˜€

I'm back...editing this to thank you for your take on Bye, Bye, Prima Donna. You got it right with your comment: there's three in this relationship!"

[avatar]

Thanks man, really appreciate that Motown comment, given how regularly your productions hit the spot. Will try and catch up with a few I’ve missed - something to look forward to tomorrow :)

[avatar]

Thanks for stopping by. Yeah, I don’t recall any dating rule books in my day. I don’t even think we called it dating. But books and movies are full of that stuff now. Had a lot of fun with this one - lol!

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks for the lovely comment. The funny thing is I just gave @davidtaro the verses and the bridge, and the chorus words and music just happened as a bonus extra while he took ten minutes to write the music for my words. Clever trick, eh?

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the comment on 'Alone'!

[avatar]
@brisk

Something like this? [...] - I love me a bit of McGill! Thanks for the positive Grandfather's Clock comments - I've always had a massive soft spot (cripes!) for this kind of thing - don't ask me why.

[avatar]

Thank you so much for your moving comment on Crying Daisy. Our new demo is uploaded if you get the chance to listen to: https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/songs/7633

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the comment on 'Paper Man' - yes, we can only hope!

[avatar]

Thank you so much for your kind, warm, moving and inspiring comments.

[avatar]

Thanks for listening to my "Siren Song". Well worth reading Vonnegut - he was "woke" years before the concept even arose. It is not strange that you saw echoes of Saint Douglas (of Adams). He stated publicly that Vonnegut was a massive influence on his approach to S.F.

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the comment on 'So Far' - the "dirty guitar" is actually a baritone uke!

[avatar]

:)

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks so very much for your comments! Diane Warren is an amazing writer and inspiration.

[avatar]

Thank you for the Candy Apple Red appreciation!

[avatar]

Thank you so much for your beautiful comments and support.

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks for the kind words - I don't have any confidence in my vocal abilities at all so it is really nice when someone is nice about them.

[avatar]

Thanks, glad you enjoyed My Prison.

[avatar]

@panch, I like your comments on the lyrics for Santa's Only Son. I see your point that they could be applicable to certain other families, too. I hadn't thought of that, but it is a good point. Thank you!

[avatar]

@panch. Thanks for listening to Come Back. Your opinion means a lot to me, and I'm very pleased you liked the collab with David. Handing over one's lyrics to a musician is a bit like sending your only child off to school! I'm very happy with how this turned out, and I'm glad you enjoyed it, too.

[avatar]

Thanks for your feedback on "To The End of Time (Via Bicycle)"!

[avatar]
@brisk

Ah, thanks for listening! Things have gone a bit chaotic in my house (nothing melodramatic, but just rather distracting) so I'm able to participate much less than I'd like. Perhaps I will give you a listen before I finish work. I assume you've written another ten since I last looked! (edit: make that 16!)

[avatar]

Thanks for the kind words, Panch! Loved your guitar work on Nadia's composition. You did a fabulous job!

[avatar]

Thanks for your comments on Come Back. I'm glad you like the split line approach.

[avatar]

Hi Mark, thank you so much for your amazing comments and support. Your opinion is very dear to me.

[avatar]

Hi panch. Thank you so much for your beautiful comment on Join me in my Journey to the Past. I will be absolutely delighted to collaborate with you. I've made it downloadable for free on Bandcamp. You can also get in touch with me via Bandcamp, it has a contact button.
Thank you again.
Nadia

[avatar]

It might have been me! I'll have a beer thx 😊

[avatar]

Thank you for the comment on 'Stratagem' and the very kind comparison to Philip Glass! I really appreciate that, it's always nice to be told your work reminds people of an excellent composer πŸ˜„

[avatar]

she really wasnt anything like a grizzly bear. she descrribed her self a minnie mouse with the soul of an edith piaf.

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the listen and comment on 'We Might See Some Rain', I always appreciate a Neil Young mention!

[avatar]

Thank you for your compliment regarding Gerald Finzi. Just listened to some of his pieces and they are truly gorgeous! And yes, I thought of the harp but didn't try it. I might have a go :)

[avatar]

Hi, @panch. Glad you liked the drums & bass addition to But I Did. I thought Kate did a wonderful job of making the lyric into a song, and Dominick's additions enhanced it even more. Thanks for listening and commenting.

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the comment on my blues collab with Simon!

[avatar]

Thanks for dropping in on my Emperor song.

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the (long) listen and comment on 'On the Far Side of the Universe'!

[avatar]

Hi, @panch. Thank you for checking out the lyrics for Memories are Everywhere. I'm glad you found them moving. That was my goal.

[avatar]

Thanks for your comments on I Hate Love (Alternative Style.). Jeff really went to town on that lyric, envisioning it in two different styles. And thanks for the compliment on the rhyming. I had fun with that.

[avatar]

good call on the way we are now. i was thinking of brel while working on the melody and vocals.

[avatar]
@brisk

No worries, it is always a pleasure listening to your offerings - and thanks for giving mine a go too, much appreciated. Onward!

[avatar]
@jeff9

And ditto for your kind words for that attempt at something in a new direction for Patty's "I Hate Love". I don't think either one of us actually do, but we enjoyed inhabiting a character who claims to in that one.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thank you for the nice comments on "Clock Into Our Life"!

[avatar]

Ah yes, Edith might indeed have had problems with someone who promised to fix it for her in Broadmoor 😜
Thanks for the listen.

[avatar]

Thanks for the comment on my skirmish song, Sick and Tired. I think we have all been there in the past two years.

[avatar]
@atitlan

Thanks for the comment on 'The Bad Stuff' - of all the bands to be referenced in a comment to one of my songs The Clash is probably the least expected I've had. When I think of Mick Jones I tend to think more of his period in Big Audio Dynamite - loved that band at the time.

[avatar]
@nadine

Thanks a lot for your comment! It will take a while until we finish the "Quarterlife Blues" but I am sure that it will be BIG.

[avatar]
@andrea

I sent you an email πŸ˜€

[avatar]
@andrea

panch, thanks for your interest in Collaborating on The Call of the Void! It is available and I am excited to see what you come up with. Let me know if I need to make any tweaks. πŸ˜€

[avatar]

panch, So you heard a bit of Elton John in Broken. What a compliment to David! Thanks for listening and commenting. I'm glad you liked it. It sure was fun for me!

[avatar]

panch, Thanks for your nice words on Baby, What About Me. I agree that Georgie really knows how to rock a country tune!

[avatar]

Thanks for the awesome feedback on Digital Boy, Analog Girl, Panch! Looking forward to checking out your tunes \m/

[avatar]

Thanks for the comments on Truths and Lies. I've played the autoharp for over 20 years. It's a chromatic 36 stringed instrument with push buttons for chording. It's used in Folk and Country music, primarily. Janis Joblin, Joan Baez, Loretta Lyn, and Dolly Parton played the the autoharp. I chose the autoharp because I have arthritis in my hands, and could no longer play the guitar or piano. Because the autoharp has buttons, chording is easier, making it a more accessible instrument. You can google Oscar Schmitd Autoharp to see more about it! Have a great day!

[avatar]

panch, I just sent you a message through your bandcamp site. After I hit send, it said,"Please allow 5 to 7 days for a response," or something to that effect! :). Let's hope you see it more quickly than that.
Patty

[avatar]

Panch, Thanks for your comments on Gramma, I'm Having a Crisis. Mandolinda was a joy to work with...if you can even call it work!

[avatar]

thanks for you comment on my train song. you got it. it could be about death or just leaving town.

[avatar]

Cheers mate, really appreciate you picking out that little detail on the bass. Bass-Player-Me says thanks a million!

[avatar]

yes totally! in my sleep last night i thought (as is the way of these quick post challenges) i should have had one of those "Thanks driver"s saying "Up the workers!"
