February is fine! I can't imagine how you could run out of steam! Congrats to you too!

[avatar]

Thanks for stopping by, Kate! You’ve given me something to aspire to…

[avatar]
@jeff9

Hi, Kate. I'm so thrilled you took a listen to Sometimes a Woman and liked it. It's really simple, I know, but I think it might be one of my favorites that I've ever come up with and I was hoping it might hit the ears of some folks here on 50/90 who can don't mind a little country/Americana stuff.

[avatar]

Thank you so much Kate for your comments on This Tattoo Is Not For You - you made my day!

[avatar]

i had neer heard of redit or discord. i checked out some of the entries int he shalespeare section of reddit, though, and was a little shocked at the kacj if knowledge displayed, it was like a group of high school kids looking for help with their homework. that was a funny piece form second city though. i had a few friends who honed their improv skills there. are you going to make a song of the fire escape lyreic i sent you?

[avatar]
@jeff9

Your comments about Justin's number "Mom's House" are greatly appreciated, Kate. Bless your soul for such kind words.

[avatar]

I keep forgetting to write this to you about when you mentioned Hatsune Miku on "I Like To Eat Cheese" - all that totally made my day (way back when you wrote that lol)! I'm sure you and your crew already know and own the game and ALL its DLC lol - but I'm talking bout' Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix+
I bought it not too long ago because for some reason I was on a rhythm game kick...which I haven't been since like 2010 lol And I saw everyone's favorite vocaloid had a whole game out there, so I bought it immediately. The presentation is friggin awesome! But...I still suck at the game lol I was never great at Guitar Hero, and now for this game i'm using keyboard and/or xbox controller so that's even worse...but its SO fun! If somehow you all don't own it, you should!

[avatar]
@mctown

Been on a trip. Will catch up some. Thought I'd say hey.

[avatar]
@andrea

Your Gram would be so proud of you. You are a beautiful singer and soul 💗

[avatar]

You are very welcome Kate, it was a great pleasure to listen to every collaboration you had so far. Thank you for your amazing support. I hope you are enjoying a wonderful evening.

[avatar]

You are once again too kind. And Floyd and King Crimson are some of my favorite classic prog psychedelic bands. Thanks for all your encouragement!

[avatar]

Hi @katestantonsings , thanks for your lovely comments on Overdrive. Really appreciated. It was a real pleasure working with @sunfire and @chrismyth02

[avatar]

I'd love you to do it and no hurry at all!

[avatar]

Hey, I see you have your first single coming on Spotify. I THINK I mentioned this before, but you should check out the YouTube channels for Andrew Southworth or Tom Dupree III for advice on running Facebook Ads to promote your Spotify.

[avatar]

Thanks. I didn't realize he was going to do my Cotton Candy one. It is fine with me, if you also do it, or another one. Not sure if you'd like this one? https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/songs/6546

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you Kate, I'm glad you enjoyed. I also look forward to the bass, but I think it will be a project for next year. I never heard The Black Keys, but maybe I should...

[avatar]

I hope we can do a Collab!

[avatar]

Thanks for your great comment!

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the comment on 'Alone'. It's going to be a few more years to get the rock opera finished, I think I have 15 songs for it now.

[avatar]
@gm7

OMG I am a YES fan.....great choice K! great minds think alike AND don't forget Roundabout!.
As for the funny stuff it is my blood! Thx
We need to have fun each day. We were kids once and had fun then we wait until we are too old to have fun again. Have fun every day I say. All the best my Ohio musical buddy.

[avatar]

Thanks Kate! To be fair, you've also got an impressively diverse and broad range of styles ☝ 😎 - great 50/90 for you. Have an awesome Thursday too...

[avatar]
@jeff9

Hi, Kate, Apparently I've neglected until now to thank you for your beautiful words about "I Love Your Eyes". I'm so thrilled that @oswlek and I at least evoked some thoughts about Van Morrison, since he was top of mind during its creation. Your mention of Astral Weeks brought back some complicated memories as it was a record that sailed in me for quite a few years of intellectual, emotional and spiritual uncertainty, and its artistry was a beacon. I do confess, however, that my Wittgenstein is rusty to the point of seizure, but your linking of his quote to that album's poetry and VM's delivery of it is highly insightful and thought provoking. Thanks again.

[avatar]
@gm7

Thx K! I think Mr. Opossum ( @opossum ) was just making a cameo appearance......maybe 5090 is the time he fattens up for winter so he can be at his best for FAWM Feb 2023. He has to be careful on the highways 'cause the last thing to go thru his mind could be a Michelin tire! So Stay safe Ray D.
Have a great day K!

[avatar]
@gm7

K! I was reading one of your comments about the Cure being a fav of yours and me too, as you know...BUT I also love The Cult...what a great band and sound. You know this one; If your head is bobbin' check your pulse..lol Cheers!

[avatar]

I'd love to hear it when Nadine finishes the remix! 😄

[avatar]

Thank you, Kate. 😀
You're very kind. The duduk is real, but made of PVC wastepipe and heavily processed in that recording. I love the sound and how easily it sits in with my recorders when I use them together.

[avatar]

i liked his bass plaer . was the singer murray head the actor from the 70s?

[avatar]

we did a JC Superstar with Boston Rock Opera featuring Gary Cherone (lead singer for extreme) in title role.

[avatar]

netflix in peru offers about 5% of what you get in the states. havent seen henry V listed.

[avatar]

St. Crispin’s Day speech ..i think you mean Henry V. very interesting comparison between Oliviers and Branaughs interpretation of that speech.

[avatar]

id loce to read your analysis of taming of the shrew, a play i dont care much for. and julie taymor's film of the tempest with helen mirren was interesting, but that play is impossible to stage, as nobody is transcendent enough to bring that masterpiece into this world intact.

[avatar]

i regret that i will probably not have the opportunity, but i would love to direct hamlet again, as i have so many new ideas on how to stage certain scenes. i would also like to direct The Seagull, a play i have acted in on three occasions, playing a different part each time. And if i can ever find somebody to take the womans part in my 2 character operetta/ballet adaptation of Last Tango in Paris.

[avatar]

after directing hanlet at bostons suffolk university in 1991, the poet richard moore, who taught english at the New England Conservatory of Music, invited me to give a lecture to his class on Hamlet. We later became friends and I directed two of his translations from the Greeks, and we performed shows of poetry and song in the clubs. I discovered Hamket in 1964 from a record of Richard Burton delivering the speeches from the broadway play. soon after memorizing all the speeches, i saw the elecctronovision transmission of the whole play., aand have been obsessed with it for the last 60 years. .interestingly, all of the older cast members of my Hamlet production had also seen that 1964 production directed by Gielgud and starring Burton.

[avatar]

Hello, Kate! Thanks for giving feedback on Counting Cousins!

[avatar]

i noticed the fire escape poet is the same guy who inspired your udea to write a song about eyes and lookinbg. how about a song about seeing the world from a fire escape?

[avatar]

there are no easy answers in hamlet. each interpretation will be contradicted by another equally valid one. it is an infinitely rich and complex play.. there is no end to it. socrates might have said the unexamined life is not worth living, but hamlet was the first to live it, thus inventing the introspective personality that has made us human.

[avatar]

ophelias mistake was forgetting who she was and becoming an actor in a play. what is misunderstood as her madness was her rejection of her assumed shape and return to her orphic nature. her drowning was an ascension, not to heaven, but to the underworld where she hoped to reunite with her lover, her twin. and when hamlet sees her being buried, he takes on the mantle of orpheus and follows her into the grave, after being appalled at laertes' temerity in preceding him in the act.

[avatar]

maybe it was due to seeing west side story so many times as a kid, but the fire escape has always been a central symbol of new york city to me, and i liked how centralized it was in this story,

[avatar]

Like her father Polonious and her brother Laertes, Ophelia is displaced at Elsinore. What are these Greeks doing in Denmark? (perhaps they are actors enacting a greek tragedy) and in this tragedy, Ophelia is the feminine of Orpheus, She is the queen of poetry and song and follows her lover into Hell after she hears of his apparent death, Gertrude understands this, Reread her description of Ophelias death and think on how ecstatic it is. Ophelias mistake was that she set Hamlet up to be spied upon by her father. In doing so she lost her standing as one outside of the depraved court and became in Hamlets mind an insipid lady of the court uttering platitudinous nonsense such as " could beauty have better commerce than with honesty?"

[avatar]

thank you for your enthusiasm over remember me. i see the ophelia scene differntly than you. i believe she is far from mad, but has reached a state of grace, of poetic lucidity..the flowers she hands out have symbolic meanings and each one represents the truth of the personality of the person to which she hands them. also i disagree about hamlet and believe he is only feigning madness in order to expose the true identities of these people who surround him. the main question running through the play is expressed in its very first ine. Who are you? Finally, I believe hamlet is the only real peron on stage, the rest are actors. and hamlet is not delaying the final act. he is rejecting the whole play and the part he has been slated to play in it. he would rather be anywhere and anybody than the hero of a tragic drama.

[avatar]

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback, Kate!

[avatar]
@nadine

6 hours? Ouch, that might hurt. You have to show me when it's done and healed. Well, I'm workin through my mails and I'm nearly done.

[avatar]
@nadine

I miss you too. But I'm heading home!

[avatar]

Kate - Hooray. Collaborating off-season sounds wonderful to me. My email nancycunningham1451@gmail.com

[avatar]

So I had to look it up too - thanks! 😂

[avatar]

Hey, Kate - Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your music, and your responses to me and to so many people here. I especially liked what you said about being open to the world as a way to fuel the process of creating. I'd love to collaborate on something some day.

[avatar]

Thank you Kate.

[avatar]

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ My my believed that 7 is a lucky number. Thank you so much Kate for your beautiful comments and support.

[avatar]

❤️

[avatar]

Thanks again for the listens and support!
I have not used regenerative binaural beats before, but they sound interesting!

[avatar]

methinks you are much more gutsier than you let on.

[avatar]

Thank you Kate, you are very kind. It is always a pleasure to collaborate with you. Your voice is very beautiful and sincere and your lyrics are very beautiful. Have a wonderful day.

[avatar]

So glad you liked Night Comes For Everyone. Eric perfectly captured the mood I was going for. Thank you for listening and commenting!

[avatar]

Squirt and Scarface! Love that you have named the squirrels in your yard. Sounds like those two are a bit more docile than the ones in "Don't Feed The Squirrels." Thanks for listening and commenting!

[avatar]

Thank you Kate for your comment on Bad Boy Crushes. I had way too much fun doing that one and the first one - Candy Apple Red, I’m thinking of doing a concept album for FAWM.

[avatar]

Kate, each time I listen to your new song I'm under spell of it. Every song is meaningful and gorgeous. I enjoy so much listening and I only wish I could put in words how much I love your work.

[avatar]
@mctown

Thanks..

[avatar]
@mctown

Yes. At times it seems she used men as well to further her career.

[avatar]

I am aware there's so much more to what is right in front of us.... or above our heads. I am positive it will be for the better for all of 'us' to be aware of that, like closely looking at the structure of a tree leave (for example, I could have given a more exciting example LOL) or watching the stars above... And if needed there's stuff at our disposal like a magnifying glass and a telescope (okay, not for all, the latter).Somehow I think you are very 'nature aware' already!

Since I don't follow the news daily, I missed that exoplanet. It sure is exciting stuff, Kate. Thanks for letting me know :)

Yes, I will update you with an update once I did whitewater rafting!

[avatar]
@mctown

Joni Mitchell... though it ended up darker than I thought in beginning.. she leapfrogged and was unwilling to be the prize so much..

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you! I wish you a calm and productive time 😀

[avatar]

That'd be great!! Thanks!

[avatar]

Looks exciting, Kate! I see nature and 'sport' make quite the combination. I will check it out, if not this year, then next.

Last night I swam and watched the stars while swimming (on my back). And when I got out the water while enjoying the towel around my shoulders, I saw a falling star! Never seen before!

Quite the thing to look forward to with your daughter! That's fun in itself already :)

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you, Kate! These days are insane. I'm not a teenager anymore but I'm constantly asked why I haven't heard this and that... why I don't post personal stuff or why I only have a 100 followers. I'm not a big fan of social media but I cannot live without as its the only way to find peers for my content... and no I don't feel unwell when I don't know certain trends or people. But teenies would suffer a lot!

[avatar]
@crisp1

Kate, thank you so much for Pearl Diver! It's beautiful. Had a rough day today, sorry for the long delay. I'll add some comments tomorrow, but just know you helped me end today on a high note!

[avatar]

Hi Kate, thank you so much for your amazing comment and kind offer to collaborate. I'll be delighted. I'll send you my music tomorrow as it's almost 3am and I switched my computer off. Thank you again. It is very special to collaborate with you. I'll add you but if you'd rather I waited, I'll change it tomorrow first thing.
Please do let me know.

[avatar]

Thank you Kate for your comments on my music and collaboration with Bill. I'm delighted to read your thoughts. It's also lovely to hear about your cats :)

[avatar]
@andrea

Thank you for all your very kind and thoughtful comments. I truly appreciate your support 😊

[avatar]
@tjeff

Sounds good Kate - plz know that you have complete freedom to go whatever direction you wish!

[avatar]

Thanks Kate, I hope it works out OK, the few people who have read what I have so far have been eagerly waiting for me to get it done. I hope I don't screw it up 😁

[avatar]

Thank you Kate. If I may suggest, you might find youtube videos really helpful for any questions you might have with logic. I don't know which exact programme you use. I've just found this video which might not be applicable to your programme but if you put in the search box you'll find some advice.

It's a little bit Harry Potter-ish based on a dream I once had about 10 years ago now, started as a long poem but it has developed since. I started writing it a couple of years ago but I'm only a few thousand words in.

[avatar]

Thanks Kate, I hope to write a couple more here then I am putting my lyrical pen down for the foreseeable future to concentrate on writing my book 😊

[avatar]

Thanks for your kind words on With You, My Friend; I was feeling quite pensive when those lyrics came to me, I'm glad you enjoyed them. And a special thanks for posting Used To The Illusion in the recommendations forum! I had so much fun playing in that dark soundscape Edward made.

[avatar]

Thank you so much Kate for your beautiful comments and support.

[avatar]

we could start by jotting down some notes, lines, verses on the the theme and then taking a look at everything we got and then start carving out a song.

[avatar]

we could start by jotting down some notes, lines, verses on the the theme and then taking a look at everything we got and then start carving out a song.

[avatar]

ive got the whole month of september to explore it. after 65 or so songs now, im pretty much tapped out of ideas, so i welcome the input and a possible collaboration

[avatar]

those were good aspects you brought up. i was just throwing in a couple more aspects of seeing. i especially like the idea of the object of sight taking ones full attention.

[avatar]

there are so many direction that one can take with the concept of the gaze. and much that has already been written about it, both in poetry and popular song. it is my view that a thing cannot be seen unless it shows itself toyou. stealing glances are a common theme, just like stolen kisses, and gazing without being given consent is a prelude to trouble. criticism of the male gaze is a popular theme in feminist polemics, but i believe the female gaze is just as powerful and just as prevalent. much love at first sight is simply the result of a person allowing another person to see into their eyes. so in what direction do you see this eye business as being a meaningful subject for a song?

[avatar]

Thank you so much for your lovely comment on River Ramblings Kate! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll try some more on piano today.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Bless you, Kate, and many thanks for the nice comments on Workaholic Country Blues.

[avatar]
@jamkar

Thank you for your thoughtful comment!

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you so much! Rainy days are lovely.... when its warm or you stay inside.

[avatar]

Hope you had a wonderful weekend as well, Kate!

Going to share new music the coming week. Music starts to want things from me or the other way around. Can't tell :)

Nature. So true that's it's vital. Live it! Thanks for writing “Look ma, one hand”... that made me smile. Vivid imagination going, like it's a scene and I'm watching it taking place.

By the way you talk about white water rafting...... I am convinced it is really a memorable thing to have a a scene to look back on in one's life :)

[avatar]

Hi, Kate, thank you so much for your sweet message. Your songs are extra special and I'm only one of very many songwriters who know it. Thank you for sharing your amazing work with us. It is very inspiring to listen to your songs, collaborations and to feel the kindness and amazing talent in everything you do.

[avatar]

Thank you so much Kate for all your kind support. I appreciate it.

[avatar]
@nadine

Exactly like this! Dang, I never saw a piano string tear 😳

[avatar]
@nadine

You're welcome! Maybe you have to play piano harder 😈🤭

[avatar]

Hi Kate, well, waterskiing was wild (and painful to learn the first four tries:) ) Like the guy in this video.... I know what he went through https://youtu.be/sv0bBZU1cVo but.... learning all the time !

So, next station: whitewater rafting. When? Not sure...

[avatar]

September 11, so any final "flaws" have around 2 weeks to get sorted and fixed.

[avatar]

Hi Kate, thank you for your kind comments and support. I'm sorry again for your loss. Please take care. Music helps. Keep on creating, it's very healing.

[avatar]

I wanted to say I am so sorry to hear about your Gram... ♥️

[avatar]
@aneil

Thx so much for your encouragement on Girl with the voice

[avatar]

Hi Kate, thank you so much for all your comments and support. Thank you for your recent comment on my collaboration with Marthie on Sonata for Beginners. I instantly liked Marthie's lyrics and I love her vocal melody and vocals. Marthie is amazingly creative. I'm looking forward to hearing more of your songs and collaborations. It is always special to hear your work.

[avatar]

Saw your note on my timeline, Kate. Much thanks for the offer. Sure. I'd love to collab on a project with you. Whenever your schedule's clear to do so, just let me know. No matter to me if it's during this 50/90 or after. Whatever's best for you.

[avatar]

Thank you. It is so empty without her. That'll get better, but right now it's raw.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thank you, Kate, for the kind comments about Patty’s and my little Christmas song. So very encouraging.

[avatar]

Thanks Kate for commenting on my write about the 7-11 near me. Everyday, ordinary peoples.

[avatar]

there is an age limit on accounts, so estrella has to piggyback on mine. she is so excitesd to see your song with her on youtube.

[avatar]

Kate! I Would love that! When I wrote it I thought of you and was tempted to reach out to you as I could hear you singing this … but I tend not to ask people to do music. I’m an introvert by nature :). But I am so glad you found this lyric. Yes! Please!

[avatar]
@nadine

Thanks for your comments, Kate! My arm still hurts from playing 8th notes on rougly 160 BPM. I need more stamina before I buy an electric!

[avatar]

Kate, I didn’t even read it until you mentioned it. I guess I don’t like the new format - my eyes flew right past it - lol! Will have to adjust…

[avatar]

Much thanks, Kate, for checking out "It, in Your Eyes" and for so wonderfully commenting on it. Ironically, after having checked out your page and commented on your material, I had wondered if you'd be interested in bringing my "It, in Your Eyes" rap lyrics to life. Not certain if you feel the song in performance is one for you, but know I'd welcome the chance for you to do so, if you so decided that way. Regardless, all the best with this 50/90! Quite talented are you at what you do.

[avatar]

Thanks Kate, glad you liked the song. Love Cindy's lyrics

[avatar]
@andrea

Hi Kate. I'm looking forward to hearing your demo, but the track is not found in the link you sent.

[avatar]
@andrea

Hi Kate, I love your comments on I Am Undefined. This made me smile, "An anthem for the artist. Undefined". Thanks

[avatar]

Kate, Thanks for your input on Santa's Only Son and how it might be possible to produce a "child's voice" version...without the child! @Jeff9 has offered to add his music and vocal to this and it will be posted soon. We are both open to a child version--or any other version, too. Thanks again!

[avatar]

Just wanted you to know that I check in here almost every day and then leave in tears on the days that you don't have a new song posted. <3 😀

[avatar]

So glad you gave a thumbs-up to Come Back. I loved the way David envisioned the song, and I couldn't be happier. You're right...he's really good at imagining all those layers to the music. So wonderful to listen to! Thank you for commenting.

[avatar]
@katey

Thanks, Kate for your comment on my lyrics Black Emerald and March. Unfortunately, I'm unable to upload any music. Only the lyrics.

[avatar]

Thank you, Kate. So kind!

[avatar]

Kate, Thanks for your nice comments on David's and my collab on Come Back. I was going to say the same things about your own versatility as a musician and singer! (BUT I DIDn't). Little joke, there! 😀

[avatar]

Thanks for the lovely comment on Come Back! Patty wrote a super lyric! Oh and the added bonus of a Soundcloud repost, yay 🙂

[avatar]

Thanks Kate, I really appreciate you taking the time to listen! Your songs are getting stuck in my head this year. Mooore! 😀

[avatar]

Just watched Steven Pressfield’s latest email video and he is so right. When we work in isolation, it’s easy to just be “good enough.” That’s what’s cool about this place - we make it real by putting it out there, which drives us to go deeper. Especially when we get feedback and realize we need to one even deeper. :)

[avatar]

Thanks, oh me too I have both albums and play them a lot 😀

[avatar]

:)

[avatar]

Hi Kate, I thought Skirt This Place would make a great Alison Kraus style song if/when you get time during 50/90. :-)

[avatar]

Sweet dreams! :)

[avatar]

i loved Paprika. Had no idea it was the inspiration for Inception.

[avatar]

Paprika, the anime?

[avatar]

:) Same to you!

[avatar]

Hi Kate, thanks for the kind words on NCC-5090! 😊 "Majestic", thanks for that word! I had never thought of this term in the context of Star Trek music, but it fits surprisingly well. Standing in awe, marvelling at the wonders of the universe, full of longing and curiosity... 😊

[avatar]

That's a vivid memory, Kate. Very nice. A change of place, yes, it does good things to one's system, in hindsight too :) Okay... whitewater rafting... sounds like a shocking good idea. I will use waterskiing as a stepping stone first and then one day I'll update you about my whitewater rafting experiences! (and whether they'd been shocking me back into life).

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks, Kate, for your wonderful comments on When I had it All😀

[avatar]

Ah, thanks so much! I hope you like it - it has special meaning for me.

[avatar]

Yes, taking it easy indeed. It works, it's a good doing-word then. Seeing those (fishes) while paddling..really nice.

Next weekend I will be doing some watery stuff of another kind...waterskiing. Thank you, Kate <3

[avatar]

Thanks so much! Are you interested in doin a collab this summer/fall? You are like next level so it’d be an honor lol

Also Travis and I are still down to drive to OH to be your band…just sayin.

[avatar]

Blondie - I’ll take it! Thanks, Kate, for all your kindness!

[avatar]

Ooh, I like that, it sounds so sane to take some time for yourself like that :) LOL. It's no joke though LOL!

As for lakes, it can be a strange senation to have mud between the toes, but apart from that, yes, more likable than a pool to me too.

[avatar]

Hi Kate, did you have some cool summer vibes? Have you been enjoying the sun? :) Summer is friendly for me with a lake nearby, I love swimming more than ever! Plus stepping out of the water and have that towel ready...golden moments LOL.
Thank you for your kind words! @coolparadiso will be delighted too, I'm sure.

[avatar]

Yep, it's perfect as is. Such a cool element to the track, is it just you making the noise or are there some other effects etc? Sounds like ripples of water, a ticking clock, but also like absolutely nothing else I've ever heard. Kudos!

[avatar]

Hello. Sorry crazy weekend, but will make a point to listen on speakers/big headphones tmrw. My gut is it’s spot on as it is, but will confirm :)

[avatar]
@nadine

I didn't know he had side projects. Thats been worth checking out, thanks!

[avatar]
@jeff9

Greetings, Kate, and thank you so much for your flattering comments on Summertime is the Best Time. You've worked with Garry yourself, so you know what a treat that can be, which it certainly was for me as well.

[avatar]
@oswlek

Thanks for your kind words on "Tea", Kate. I'm in a better place now, in part because I was able to play the song at Mom's service.

You've been active so far with 50/90! I don't have time now, but I'll be back soon to dig through. :)

[avatar]
@nadine

Hey! Thanks for forwarding this awesome song. Isn't that the singer from Deftones? Just right up my alley! Hope you had a nice pool party. Thans for your kind words on my collab - I'll do a listening party later.

[avatar]
@gm7

K!..Sorry to hear that...rest up my friend from Ohio. Cheers

[avatar]

When she stops begrudging you the discipline, she's hail you for it. LOL. She might be 35 by the time she works it out, but she will.....

[avatar]

May I suggest?..... 10 seconds of this..... https://youtu.be/sVdaFQhS86E?t=82

[avatar]

Encourage her to jam. Really. Get her started asap. Have a little muso buddy camp. My nephew plays trumpet in his high school group. I asked him if he jams with his buddies, he just stared blankly. Pity. He's good, but whoever leads them has made band into a chore with road trips and scholarship potential. All the more important after the internment of COVID days.
I put Miles' Kind Of Blue oh his spotify playlist. I told him next time I see him I want to hear him play any 10 second bit from that album. LOL. Let's see how he does. hehe....

[avatar]

what's leftof them after listening almost exclusively to my own moaning for the past 18m months. LOL. Hugs. my friend.

[avatar]

You're a quiet achiever when it comes to production, my friend, when you ought to be handing out business cards! :) "Can mix, saxophonist available if necessary"

[avatar]

Hi, Kate, So glad you liked the lyrics to Come Back! I'm hoping to find just the right production for it.

[avatar]

Thanks for stopping by and having a listen - it's always something a bit special for a song to get a nod from you, the owner of all things talented and a super-force of creativity!

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thank you, Kate, for the super nice comments on Predator and Prey.

[avatar]

Thank you, Kate :)

[avatar]
@crisp1

Hey, Kate. Thanks for the kind words about my collab with jeustan, Every Time I Think of You. He does amazing things with my words!

[avatar]

Thank you for noticing the lyrics for "Shy Girl" - I thought nobody would and I had so much fun bringing that story to life.

[avatar]

Hi Kate, thanks for listening and the nice comment on Revolution...and my other songs too. Appreciate it...

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you 💕 I won't turn "Passing by" into a song. This chapter makes angry. Maybe someone takes it, and if not, I trash it.

[avatar]
@nadine

Can I envy you for being able to trash them? I have trouble deleting stuff that sounds like a song or like a full set of lyrics.

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you, Kate. As you know I usually don't write personal stuff. But I got instantly triggered when I saw this person again. No way I gonna write a song for such a !!"/)$ Let's see if somebody takes it. If not, I just trash it.

[avatar]

Sigh...

Every day I come here seeking out another song by the Great Kate, and nothing today. I'm thinking you need to quit your job--or at least take a leave of absence.

<3 😀

[avatar]

Thank you Kate for another very kind comment on 'Bubbles' :) 🙏🏻

[avatar]

Hi Kate, so glad to hear you again!
Yes, I was using a theremin towards the end of For the Birds. A cheap kit for kids costing $35 (micro-kits, I think?).

[avatar]
@jamkar

Thank you for your compliments on my Popeye take!

[avatar]

Kate, very kind of you to check out our updated version of "Lost at Sea" and leave some flattering feedback. We're still wrapping up our album retreat-of-sorts... looking forward to hearing some of your 50/90 works in the coming few days.

[avatar]

morricones' father was a trumpet player and plays all the trumpet parts on his sons recordings. when his father's playing deteriorated, ennio stopped writing trumpet parts because he could not bear to give them to players other than his father. when his father died, he resumed writing for the trumpet. i was just listening to the good the bad and the ugly and the trumpet parts sent me to the piano to pick out the melodies. interesting that the trumpet is a B flat instrument and the key note in those solos is a B flat. lately ive been collecting what complete scores of his i can find and so far have an excess of 20 titles on hand. i think his background in the avante gaurde and free jazz movements combined with his classical training has given him the gift of an originality that follows the laws of composition and arrangement without falling into the trap of pre-existing templates, he is wildly inventive in his ideas and conservative in form.

[avatar]

Kate, Thanks or your comments on You Take Me There. Glad you felt the "vacation in the mind" vibe.

[avatar]

'hypnagogic'... excellent word, I had to look it up obviously :)

[avatar]

my covid symptoms have nearly abated, but my wife is still suffering. i also had an absent father who hated my work, but in the end he began to undersand it and our hearts were joined when he died. i feel he is still living through me and is enjoying the feeling of singing in a more modern way than his strong-lunged baritones who dominated his own era. but i dont want my daughter to feel the disconnect that i, and it seems you as well, have had with our fathers. keep up the excellent work and keep that elvis energy flowing. i have discovered that the only composer of whom i am jealous is ennio morricone. it must be such a joy to have that music inside oneself and the skill to set it down and send it into the world.

[avatar]

“Smash” was an American TV show on NBC about a songwriting duo on Broadway - https://www.nbc.com/smash.

[avatar]

Hey, thanks for listening to my song Silence. Both I and Yoshi are really glad you liked it ;) hope you have a great 50/90!

[avatar]

Who doesn’t like the sound of a Stratocaster. I’ll be listening for it…

[avatar]
@wacha

Hey Kate, I have a project that I'd like to discuss with you. I thought I had your email but I don't. Could you either give me your email address or shoot me an email at catherinewacha@yahoo.com?

[avatar]

Thank you, Kate, for supporting the Rabbit Resistance!

[avatar]
@aeye

I am right there with you!I love it

[avatar]

love the two minute rave up at the end

[avatar]
@cts

Hi Kate! Thanks for listening. Very much appreciated! 😀
I'll be back in your neck of the 5090 woods.

[avatar]
@andrea

Hi Kate, I saw the previews for the show 'Maid', and it looked so good. I am excited to hear your demo. No rush, whenever you are ready. Thanks

[avatar]

Hi Kate!

[avatar]
@gm7

Thx K! It was fun but i have to give most of the credit to @Richaaaay he did all the heavy lifting on this one minute little piece.

[avatar]

Hi Kate , another great collab in Whispers. I promise to leave you alone to collab elsewhere for a while now during this 50/90 but please take a look at my most recent lyric 'Skirt This Place' as I have your voice in my head when I read it back :-)

[avatar]
@nadine

You're welcome. A compressor could help you to put certain stems back and forth. It's all about wise choices. I would never run every track through a compressor...

[avatar]

im listening now to all 60 of his studio albums in sequrnce

[avatar]

Hi Kate, thanks for your comments on Wild Carrick Shore, I'm really happy with Gwynne's arrangements and vocals.

[avatar]

if you want anything by elvis, i have over 100 of his recrordings, which injclude mostof what he has recorded.

[avatar]

i cant say what my favorite elvis songs are,, as ive been listening to him from the beginning and have loved every record record up til the time he went into the army. that was the day the music really died..but after a while he made a few more good records..and then some of his later stuff was breath taking. he became a true artist with songs like suspicious minds, if i candream, always on my mind, and hurt. (his most impressive singing is on its now or never, , which is reeally o ;solo mio one of my my favorite early songs remains one night of sin, ehich was censored and released aone night, with all the sin trmoved)

[avatar]

of his well-know works of later years, this is my favorite performamce , you might have heard the song but maybe not this performance of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-pP_dCenJA&ab_channel=ElvisPresleyVEVO

[avatar]

eliv's fina;l sessions at the jungle toom ing raceland are his deepest, most honest and painful recordings of his. if you wnt to get clos to the sould of the real elvis, this is whee to go. the whole sessions are available on youtube, amd this is my favorite cut. it is so full of pain i can hardly bear it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHpIPXx3F9M&ab_channel=AlPosVibe

[avatar]

Thank you so much for commenting on Moonfire. I'm glad you liked it and happy you got a Dua and Sia vibe. Hey, Sia's another favorite of mine. Yeah, maybe indie too! Cheers!

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you 🤗 I knew that you'd love the piano song! Such a bummer I cannot practise, but well, someday I will have a better one and hopefully it will be more fun then.

[avatar]
@gm7

ooooh yes K! love too.

[avatar]

Thank you so much Kate for your beautiful comment on my depression lyrics. Your opinion is always very special and kind.

[avatar]

Thanks for commenting on my lyrics that were not getting comments, you are an angel :-)

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you, Kate! It was so hard to play the keys after hugging my guitar for too long! I was in a very bad mood when I worked on that song and funnily it's what it needed. Have you enjoyed your time off?

[avatar]

Thank you for the kind words on "Look Sharp", and "Bright Spots". You're always encouraging and I appreciate it!

[avatar]

Hi there, Kate. Thankful for your comment here ;-)

[avatar]

Thx so much! I think my singing voice is pretty embarrassing but I appreciate you saying nice things!!!

[avatar]

Hi, Kate! Welcome back from vacation. Glad you're looking forward to "working" on But I Did.

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you, Kate! Plot twist: The lyrics are true. These are uncensored thoughts from yesterday after receiving requests I cannot and will not do. Just ranting! Guess my guys influenced me after all these years... Have a nice weekend!

[avatar]

Enjoy the weekend, Kate! Here's the update for you: https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/songs/1636

[avatar]

Thanks, Kate! Just finished the book. A lot of it was repackaged from his other books but with the spin of the title. Makes it quite accessible! A good one to go to when you need that kick! Audio version would be lovely!

[avatar]

Hi Kate, I'd like you to maybe have a go at this simple lyric -

WHISPERS

You say you want me
And not to worry
Crazy woman
Yes I love you.

I know you’re shifty
From days in High School
You won me over
Both know that’s true..

I only had eyes for you

But whispers, I hear whispers
On my pillow, in my ear
At the Wallmart, doing laundry
I cannot allay my fears
For through the years
I’ve heard whispers

You say you need me
And I believe so
But windward branches
Will always bend

A soft scirocco
And you won’t tarry
That’s why, in time..
I think you’ll go..

We both know that’s so

Those whispers, yes those whispers
On my doorstep, in the rain
Heart so empty, head so dizzy
Same old feelings come again
Through the years
I’ve heard whispers

I’ve heard whispers
I’ve heard whispers..
I still hear whispers

[avatar]

Thanks for commenting on my lyrics for "Running With the Wolves" I enjoyed playing with themes like dichotomy and greed... glad you enjoyed them!

[avatar]

Thanks, Kate for your Cow Dung comment! It brightened up my late Swedish night. I've been out dancing after a small concert that went very well. Cheers and good morning when the sun reaches your part of the globe!

[avatar]
@sbs2018

Yes! Please do stay in touch!

[avatar]
@sbs2018

Did you watch the interview with Pressfield on his new book? Link was in his email. Can’t wait for the download next week!

[avatar]
@nadine

I don't know. Maybe they just caught the misbelief that you have to learn an instrument when you're a kid to be a pro and as a teen to be good. Well the quarterlife crises is like a midlife crises in generation Y and Z. Just with less money to spend for fancy things cars and guitars 😆

[avatar]

Hi, Kate! I don't even know what a Twin Profile Pic challenge is, but if it involves you, I'm in! I say YES!

[avatar]

That Stranger Things remix is 🔥🔥🔥 thank you for sharing!

[avatar]
@tjeff

FYI, tried sending you an email.

[avatar]

Thanks Kate for your comment on Jack-in-the-box, I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks for your comment on This Box I'm In, Kate. It was crazy fun trying to make music for that lyric.

[avatar]

I would love hear it with harpsichord, go full medieval

[avatar]

Thank you Kate. Yes, the sound of bullfrogs, the percussive enhancement would be great.

[avatar]

Dang ur close! U ever need a bass player or something hit me up! Lol

[avatar]

Thanks and I hope we can too!

[avatar]

Thank You, Kate! Thank you for your kind wishes. I'm about to start teaching. I don't know if I'll have any thoughts for creating but teaching is very inspiring for me so I'll enjoy Thursday :) Wishing you a very happy and productive day, Kate.

[avatar]
@tjeff

Hi Kate, I would love the opportunity to collaborate at some point this summer. Let me know if that sounds interesting. Thx!

[avatar]

Kate, thank you so much for your nice comments on Broken. As you know, It's wonderful to work with David...in my case, he does all the "work!" :)

[avatar]
@sunfire

Hi, Kate - Thanks for commenting on The First Was The Last. Glad you liked it.

[avatar]

Thank you for checking out "Carolina Beaches", it was a fun collab and I'm glad you liked it!

[avatar]
@mctown

Kate... I dropped you another via email. Thanks for asking. David

[avatar]

Kate, thanks for reviewing "Where The Lonesome Cowboys Ride".

[avatar]

You are very welcome, Kate. It's amazing to hear your songs and collaborations. Every single one is truly special and very dear to me.

[avatar]
@andrea

Hi Kate, I know you are busy, but I wanted to touch base. Wanted to make sure you received my email with the revised lyrics?

[avatar]

Kate, Thanks for your comments on Into The Well. This was Florian's and my first collab, and he was delightful to work with.

[avatar]
@sbs2018

Pressfield was especially good today, wasn’t he? Love sharing this with other artists! Thank you!

[avatar]
@steviej

Hey Kate, thanks for your comment. Nice to see you :O)

[avatar]
@ladyred

Thank you for your comments! <3

[avatar]
@aneil

[avatar]

Thanks for your kind words on Donkey's Advice!

[avatar]

Kate, So glad you enjoyed When Love Ends. I was so pleased when Adam agreed to work with me on it.
I really loved your vocal on I'll Take a Train with Nadia.

[avatar]

Thanks for commenting on "Gonna Stay Wild Forever".

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you, Kate! Yes, even when somebody comes for singing, I won't go full band here.

[avatar]

Thank you so much, Kate for your moving comment on my piece for my mum. I appreciate your support. Music is very helpful and kindness is amazingly helpful. Thank you for your kindness!

[avatar]
@nadine

Nope, that's exactly the kind of thing I cannot fix. These tools are great to fix syllables that are out of tune, a little bit too late or long notes that drop off. But they cannot change the pronunciation or stress. It's something I'd rerecord. And EQ'ing is only about giving more room in the whole mix.

[avatar]
@nadine

You're welcome. I didn't hear any rhythmic flaws. The only thing I spotted was the quite loud first syllable of "Goodbye" but that's super hard to soften. Creating beats is not easy, but fun. I struggled for YEARS with creating beats for electronic music and pop. I really don't know why, the hihats just didn't set, the toms were never grooving, so I layered with loops. And suddenly I figured out that I have more talent programming acoustic kits. That's why I stick there.

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks for listening to my latest one Kate! Confidentially I think the effect I used on my voice for this song - it seemed so right at the time - is grating a bit. I will revisit this one this afternoon I think, before I upload my next one.

I haven't forgotten your songs this year - I have listened to at least a couple and enjoyed them very much - I've just been a bit stuck on what to say other than offer vague effusive praise because you have such a singular vision, and it is carried off with such style, I'm not sure what I can contribute beyond that. I'll get round to it though!

[avatar]
@andrea

Hi Kate, I will email them to you. I still have some reservations which I'll explain in my email. Hope together we can make them work. I'll email them in a little while. Thanks so much 😀

[avatar]
@andrea

Hi Kate, I was wondering if you might still be interested in the lyrics that I sent last year (This is the Last Time)? I have made some changes from the original. Please let me know either way. Thanks :)

[avatar]

Thanks for the kind words! And for hyping FAWM/5090 on twitter! :)

[avatar]
@kristi

Hi Kate! Nice to see you! Looking forward to hearing your new music!

[avatar]

Thank you, Kate! I just started grad school, so I won't have much time for songwriting, but I'll be here to listen! Have a great 50/90!

[avatar]
@gm7

YES....I remember this THX. I always get a Billy Idol vibe

[avatar]
@gm7

Interesting...similar musical favs. You....ooops I mean we have good taste..

[avatar]
@gm7

In your fav band list you have the "The Cure"...one of my fav too! She sells Sanctuary . I am doing a song with Robyn and it's a Cure type sound with the bass and drums moving the song along. Love the The Clash also!

[avatar]
@beacon

Thanks for your comments on my collab with Cindy. To have someone with such an amazing voice compliment me on mine is very special.

[avatar]

Kate, Glad you got a kick out of the lyrics for Damn, Damn, Damn (A Love Song.). Thanks for taking a look!

[avatar]

Thank you so so much for your sweet words <3 I’m happy that you liked the song!!

[avatar]
@aneil

Thx for your comments on Truth! I really appreciate the interaction

[avatar]
@sbs2018

The leap for us is to apply the wisdom from these books to our music because, for them, their art is writing, not music. So, a lot of their examples are taken from a writer’s life. And why I was so thrilled when Steven Pressfield was a guest speaker at a music conference I attended (virtual during Covid), and he spoke directly to the music.

[avatar]
@sbs2018

I also read in Julia Cameron's new "Artist Way's Every Day" book that resistance is often behind depression and a light bulb totally went off. I need to practice facing down Resistance, especially realizing my reactions have caused my own depression, if you know what I mean. Maybe not so simple for everyone but that was a true statement and a real eye-opener for me.

[avatar]
@sbs2018

Ha! Thanks. Just what I needed to hear! :)

[avatar]
@mctown

cool...onward we go...
dg

[avatar]
@sbs2018

Just pre-ordered Steven Pressfield's latest book, "Put Your Ass When Your Heart Wants To Be" - lol! Each week when I get one of his emails, I think I need to get back to writing fiction. But when I think about where my heart is, well, it's with music. Such a conundrum!

[avatar]

Thanks for your wonderful comments on my sitting song!

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you, Kate! I'm glad you enjoyed my little rant from yesterday night 😂 I just wish I had the right guitar and singing voice to take it to the max.

[avatar]
@mctown

Ok... went to your wordpress...used an email there (not the work one)...sent a lyric... let me know you got it. Somewhat- Joni...but be you...David

[avatar]

all those firsts have left their imprint..the first time i held her shortly after her birth, the first time she called me papa, the first time she kissed me, the first time she said i love you.

[avatar]
@mctown

BTW... you might suggest some artists that you align yourself with....admire...would like to work like theirs ..might help me. I've been out of town ..away from computer...been working on slow ipad. Lol..David

[avatar]

Thank you Kate for your comments on my song. I can be honest and gritty at times.

[avatar]

Thank you so much Kate for your beautiful comment on my recent train song. It was very kind of you.

[avatar]
@mctown

Cool. I don't usually just post my lyrics. I try to write something for the person's voice. I will write something this week if I can.

[avatar]

My son's girlfriend's name is "Kate" and my 3-year-old granddaughter calls her "Cake"--we refuse to correct her. So I'll always kind of think of you as "Cake"--because your singing is so sweet(?) Looking forward to hearing something from you soon! You know I'm a big fan...

[avatar]
@hbusse

Your Tori / Fiona / Regina reference is making my heart happy 😊
