I'm John (he/him) and I love collaborations! Please comment below FIRST and follow up with an email using the link in my profile if you'd like to get connected. That should ensure that I don't miss it!

I'm a singer/songwriter living and performing in Minneapolis. My primary instrument is guitar (electric or acoustic), but I can also provide bass, vocals, mixing, and general songwriting. I'm fortunate to play in a local band and collaborate with other local musicians to write, record, and produce original music.

I've had a FAWM account since 2013 but have ended up skipping many years due to another time-consuming passion: filmmaking. FAWM 2022 was very successful for me and this will be my first 50/90, which is daunting and exciting.

During FAWM 2022 I had a hand in 15 songs, which was so much fun. Some of those are linked in my profile above. I also had a personal challenge to use every one of my guitars (and failed). If you and I work together on something, I'm happy to let you choose which guitar I use. Here's a link to a photo album of them in case one provides inspiration: https://photos.app.goo.gl/YVGMuxuR8PqD4bzy5

Let's rock!

Thank you John! Maybe we're just on the same wavelength?! Let us finish our plate first. Yes, I know the desserts are amazing... 😇 I really should stop writing cause this pile never ends...

Hey! just dropped you an email with the digital 4 track tape so far. Let me know if you need anything. Email should come from pannewb.

You should check doggos version of Passing By
https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/songs/4016

Have you decided if you continue on yours?

[avatar]

Glad you came back and this time your message is there! Happy you liked my "March Winds"

[avatar]

thanks for the feedback on 'At Midnight' - i wasnt going to share it, because i think the piano is so 'stale' but im glad i did now :) I will definitely work on my piano playing i think, as it does mean some new creativity - the run down during the chorus i couldnt do on the guitar for example.

Hey, John - I'd absolutely love to have you make something out of Job Classification. Poof. Thank you. Thank you. And on the subject of One-Upper, takes one to know one I guess. I'm always comparing myself to other people to other people as a way to reassure myself that I'm good enough. Sometimes I think eradicating all superlatives from my vocabulary would be a really good idea. Or maybe I could get around to writing a Gospely song called "Thank God I'm Not Like Other Men, So Proud They're Not Like Me" about the way we are all bailing the same boat.

Made my day!

Thank you, John, I'm glad you enjoyed my little rant. Unfortunately the lyrics (that I wrote in 10 minutes) were serious, but I decided to put them into a punk rock song which I was not able to play. Palm mutes are hard on that acoustic guitar! $€%#~\₩¥

Thank you, John! I'll wrap myself in bubble wrap *plopp* *plopp plopp*.
Yes I automated a phaser in the bridge to create more tension and make more room for the lead guitar. Such a bummer I am not able to create proper bendings with my tools.
Let's see if I get any requests for collabs. We stay in touch - and thanks for participating in the challenge.

You got a mail! Please check before I upload to public. I hope you enjoy.

[avatar]

Go ahead! Thank you, I’m excited and honored :)!!!

[avatar]
@nadine

Thanks! I'll give my best but I'm not sure if I can get something out of my guitar.

[avatar]
@nadine

Would you mind if I try to mimic you?

[avatar]
@nadine

Oh, don't make me blush! Fine, okay, but I hope you make some doom coming straight out of hell. Cause I'm just the opposite of a sloth 😂

@nadine

My favourite colour is between blue and green. But if I'd choose rather green than blue!

[avatar]
@nadine

I just realised you got a 7 string guitar in my favourite colour. So jealous!!!!

[avatar]

You said in the forums you'd like to repay me for your Something from the Shelf prompt with music for a song. I just looked at your gallery of guitars and had a thought: when I write a folk song (it will happen), can you play for it using whichever guitar you think is most inappropriate for folk?

[avatar]
@nadine

What about writing a song about the long way down(stairs)? 🤔

[avatar]
@nadine

Ouch, that sounds cumbersome! I hope you are able to record neatly soon. If I had the space, I would have already bought a microphone. But I cannot even unfold a regular music stand. I mount a desk stand on a windowsill for everyday practise.

@nadine

Thanks for your kind words! I It's super annoying to balance your smartphone on the leg. You got good ears - I played everything but the solo twice. By heart. No backing runnning in the background because I don't have a DAW or multitrack on my smartphone. Maybe I should check if there's some freeware. Even 2 or 4 tracks would help A LOT until I can start building a studio.

@nadine

I'm happy you enjoyed my dish! I was rage quitting and not taking myself serious. Now it sounds better than expected... expect for my singing talents and that virtual guitar *sigh*. Screaming was fun!

[avatar]

Thanks so much for your comments John! id deffo love to collab, especially if you fancy adding some guitars to a future demo? let me know and we can work something out!

[avatar]

Thank you for checking out and commenting on “I don’t like them anymore”. If you have a musical idea I would welcome your collaboration!!!

@jlampson

@tsunamidaily - great! Care to email me so we can keep things uncluttered here?It's jlampson at gmail. If you don't want to, I can post a few ideas here but they do tend to get lost easily (for me, at least). Thanks!

[avatar]

glad to hear of your eagerness!
though i am writing the lyrics, i'd like you to give me a title or phrase you would like to see realized as lyrics. i've done this many times, and it seems to help if the musical collaborator is invested in the song from the start, so if you would, could we try this first?
glad to meet you.
