Hi, Coming back for my 2nd 5090. Looking forward to connecting with some new songwriters and visiting my friends from last year as well. What a great opportunity to work with talented people all over the globe! Looking forward to this! I am Peko on musesongwriters.com.

@jeff9

Thank you, Patty, for the nice comment on Fifty Years. I thought that was a really cool lyric, too.

[avatar]

A brief appearance from me to give you thanks for the comments on Adelaide Place of Transport Hell and Lights Out. THe Adelaide story, all true, but they've just (last week) decided that reducing the freeway to 40km/hr was actually going to make more trucks lose their brakes and decided perhaps something else might be better. The trams I dealt with in more sung detail here: https://youtu.be/v6OqzcKvBa8

[avatar]

I fixed the link for Wicked Wild World, thanks for letting me know it wasn't working and thanks again for listening πŸ˜€

[avatar]
@jamkar

Actually, I have only recently collaborated with Eric. But I have admired his work for a few years.
Maybe you and I could collab in February?

[avatar]

Patty - I totally agree about the chemistry and I loved I Am Not That Kind Of Guy! Thank you for your support this 50/90 and your insightful comments, and for sharing that website with me (I have joined) and all the details about it. I hope we can do a collab in February - I will have to act quickly when I find a lyric that calls out to me - your lyrics go quickly πŸ˜€ Your lyrics are really special and your collabs are always a treat.

[avatar]
@aneil

Wow looks like you have had a fabulous 5090

[avatar]

Thank you, Patty.
If I'm being honest, I just press buttons until it works. 🀣😳

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks for checking out my skirmish write The Mystery of Dreams. I kind of like this one. I may work on it more in the Muse. Thanks for all your great comments this 50/90. You are a good friend :)

[avatar]

You gave them some great lyrics to bite into, Patty! You three need to work on some more tracks in the future. 😎

[avatar]

You are very welcome, Patty. Thank you for your beautiful support.

[avatar]
@panch

Thanks very much for your comments on Everything's falling to pieces and all your other comments. I really enjoyed our collaborations and look forward to doing some more at a future FAWM or 50:90. All the best and keep knocking out those killer lyrics.

[avatar]

Hi greengrassgirl. Would it be OK with you if I posted Gramma I'm Having a Crisis on my Bandcamp page?

[avatar]

no matter what the genre, you can never go wrong with gwyn and georgie.

[avatar]

So pleased you liked Steps of Hope, thanks for checking it out!

[avatar]

Thanks for your comments on Dared Each Other To Be Brave. Yes, I did think of killing Debs off but decided it would be nicer to have a happier end!

[avatar]

Thanks for commenting on my Canon progression song - I think what prompted me to think about using that progression was a bunch of Youtube videos I'd been watching on 'common' progressions in pop/rock and the Canon one was surprisingly common (though often unrecognisable - especially in a rock context).

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you Patty! I'm happy you enjoyed our draft on "I'm not angry". We will work on this one and make ot even better in the next months πŸ˜‰

[avatar]

Thanks Patty, I wrote that one and 8 weeks ago now :-) Yes I am getting on with the book, 14,000 words in so far :-) Take care, keep writing :-)

[avatar]

@greengrassgirl Thank you for listening to to my songs. This is my second FAWM (my first 50/90). I love this community! I've heard so many diverse songwriters and performances. It's awesome. I am really having a great time here, both as a performer and as a fan! Seriously, though, you killed it on Gardener. I look forward to hearing some more of your words!

[avatar]
@brisk

Thanks for commenting on Drowning Rabbits! Yes, I suppose I was going for mild horror. Problem is, although my dad told me stories of *his* grandfather's cruelty a few years ago, I've basically forgotten them now. I just remember bits like the titular drowning incident (but I don't know what preceded it - he maybe just brought them home, my grandad was thrilled at the cute animals, then his dad drowned them because they were for dinner and my grandad (aged less than 10 I suppose) was traumatised? Something like that), and going "eel clodding" at night in a boat, and being deeply unimpressed that my grandad was cold and miserable.

[avatar]
@oswlek

Thanks for the kind words on Mom's House, Patty. I really feel for you, what a striking, traumatic experience. It takes my breath away just imagining it.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thank you, Patty, for such nice and thoughtful comments about I Wish We Had Danced More. Whatever it is that causes us (mainly guys) to keep our feelings about loved ones under wraps too much must be fairly universal since it's such a recurring theme.

[avatar]

Thanks for the heads up on my posting. It seems it won't work if there is an apostrophe in the name. I've changed the file name so it should work now.

[avatar]

Thanks for your comments on 'Where's Freddy?' Really enjoyed listening to your Criminy, Jake song with Tuesday. It's superb

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks so much for your comments on Raising Cain, Quarterlife Blues and Take it All. I couldn't be happier with each of these collaborations. Working with these great people is so much fun. You made my day with you very kind comment on my lyrics for Take it All :)

[avatar]

The link for Am I Scared should work now. Not sure what was wrong with it. Thanks so much for listening. https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/songs/1043

[avatar]

❀️Sending hugs to you, Patty. It says a lot about you as a person when someone trusts you to bear their burdens near the end. I hope music and writing is comforting!

[avatar]

Thanks for the kind words on Love Could happen, really appreciate you giving me the feedback.

[avatar]
@oswlek

Thank you so much for your sublime comment, Patty. Responses like yours make all the effort worthwhile. πŸ˜€

[avatar]
@cts

Y'know...for the life of me I sincerely thought I had sent out a greeting to you at the start of 50/90. I see that wasn't the case and as such, I missed an opportunity. Forgive my oversight. Here's my howdy! And hopefully we'll get to work together down the road.

[avatar]
@jeff9

You are so nice to say such kind things about I Love Your Eyes, Patty. Justin ( @oswlek ) worked really hard on the production and music for that one and we're pretty proud of how it turned out.

[avatar]
@panch

Thanks very much for your comment on Countryside (and all your other comments). I first learnt about St Hugh's, Parkminster last year when I was working on what I rather pompously called a song cycle called The Hermit. It was the story of a hermit in the late middle ages who left his hermitage for one year to visit his very elderly sister who he hadn't seen for about 40 years. In my mind the hermitage was somewhere in Northern Europe, Scandinavia probably, and I had Bavaria in mind for where the sister was. He made the journey by foot and each short song, nearly all under 2 minutes, was about the people he met or places he visited along the way and his reaction to being out in the world again, I recorded about 10 before running out of steam and setting it aside. I may revive it someday. Thanks again.

[avatar]

Hey! Just saw your messages and sent you an email.

[avatar]

if you keep writing songs for 50 years. you will probably be able to lay them down in half an hour as well. you are already well on your way..and i salute you!!

[avatar]

i sleep about four hours a night from 1 -5 am. i am always working on songs in my head, and, since i do no production work, just need a half an hour to lay one down. so there is plenty of time left over to listen to and comment on from 10-20 songs a day as well as to watch a movie or two and read some chapters from a book or check out some new album releases or revist some old ones.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Appreciate the nice words about Lingers On, Patty. The prolific @cindyrella scores again!

[avatar]

Regarding "migraine" β€” that's how we say it over here. UK pronunciations of words differ from US ones even more often than their spelling does. And now I'm thinking there's a song in that, somehow...

[avatar]

@greengrassgirl Thank you so much!

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thank you, my dear Patty, for your kind comments about Down At the Farm. Glad I could give you a little taste of bluegrass (at least directionally) to whet your appetite for some real professional stuff. If you want some really great bluegrass influenced stuff that even tends to click with folks who don't think they care for the genre, check out Alison Krauss & Union Station or Sarah Jarosz. Or maybe Watchhouse (formerly Mandolin Orange).

[avatar]

Thank you, so much! I've downloaded it so I can listen off line.

[avatar]

Hi Andrea, to be honest, I'm not sure how this happened. I've never done it in the past and I'm participating from 2010. I think it might be to do with the losses I had and having music as "helping hand" so I just express what I feel. You might not believe this but I've deleted a lot of music so this is just part of what I've been recording. I listen back and if I don't like it I don't keep it. I don't say at all that what I wrote I totally like, just saying that if I know I'm not connecting with what I composed, I ruthlessly get rid of it. Thank you again for your support. I hope you are enjoying a nice weekend.
Nadia

[avatar]

Thank you Patty for your warm comment on my collaboration with Florian on Tango Under the Moon.

[avatar]

Thanks so much for taking a little listen to 'What is Gone', and your feedback on the song and the sound means a lot! Yeah, not exactly a short-and-sharp cut, but glad you had what it takes to make it through!

[avatar]
@jeff9

Oh, Patty--you always make me feel like I actually know what I'm doing with your sweet comments. Thanks for the note about Sometimes A Woman and, as always, for being so generous spirited. And for being my sometimes collaborator!

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the comment on my skirmish song, 'On To Hollywood' - yes, I don't readily participate in skirmishes, too much of a perfectionist, but sometimes its fun to 'let it go'!

[avatar]

I just sent you an email with file hosting account information. Cheers! :)

[avatar]
@jeff9

Many thanks, Patty for your sweet words about What Happens Leaves a Mark. That morph exercise can take you to some weird places, including the temptation to dial up five dollar words like "lycanthrope". Maybe I shoulda just said "werewolf".😁

[avatar]

Thank you Patty for your beautiful comment on Crying Daisy. Our new demo is uploaded if you get the chance to listen to: https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/songs/7633

[avatar]
@sunfire

Thank you for commenting on I'm Here But I'm Not. Glad you like it and can relate to the message.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thank you, Patty for your kind words about Second Look. Had to let my inner E. Humperdinck out of the cage.πŸ˜‚

[avatar]

Thank you, Patty! I've posted the lyrics. I appreciate you asking about them!

[avatar]

Hi Patty, you are very welcome. It is always amazing to hear your collaborations. You create very beautiful and inspiring lyrics. If I had good voice I'd be delighted to collaborate with you but I know you have great songwriters to work with. Thank you for your kind comments and your recent special comment on Crying Daisy.

[avatar]
@geoff61

Thanks Patty, you may have seen my post on the muse, I am ducking out of lyric writing to complete my book after 5090 so won't be around for quite a while as I have only written about 5% of it so far πŸ˜€ thanks again and carry on doing what you do

[avatar]
@andrea

Thak you for commenting on my skirmish. I think I might work on this one a little more. I kind of like it. Glad you like it too πŸ˜€

[avatar]

Hey there! Thanks for your kind comments on Angel Broken! And, hmmm, I am indeed a bit of a pretender! :D Which of your songs should I check out?

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thank you, Patty, for your nice comment about Workaholic Country Blues.

[avatar]

Thanks so much for your comments! You wanted to send me some lyrics? (cool!) I'm sending you an email shortly (mine is also accessible on my profile page)

[avatar]
@mahtowin

Oh, so you know this place! Lucky you! If you go there again and see them say Hello from me, please! 😘

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you, Patty!

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks Patty 😊

[avatar]

Not typically per se - I have my sketch pad on my iPhone voice memos app so any fledgling songs will get captured on my phone with just me and a guitar (takes a few minutes). Whether they make the cut for production in my home studio set up (which takes about 5 hours) is another matter! Recording each instrument separately to a metronome and often needing several takes, then all the editing involved. It’s a lot of work! Especially when you’re juggling the kids on summer break πŸ˜„

[avatar]
@standup

Thanks for letting me know, but I don’t see a message on Bandcamp, and I haven’t been notified by them.

You could leave a note on my soundboard, or read me at eagner2@yahoo.com

[avatar]

Wake up! Wake up! Songs to do!!

[avatar]
@andrea

Thank you for your thoughtful and kind comments on This is the Last Time πŸ˜€

[avatar]
@gm7

Thx Patty. You are having a great 5090..well done.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thank you, Patty. Glad to learn you got a kick out of β€œHot Chocolate”.

[avatar]

Thank you. It is so heartbreaking to lose a pet and she was so loving.

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks for your positive and clever comments on Open the Door. Gave me a smile!

[avatar]
@andrea

A child's voice for Santa's son would be awesome. Good luck!

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the comment on 'Last Summer Moon', yes, I wanted to do something a little different with the harmonies on this song!

[avatar]
@geoff61

Maybe, it just feels that way at the moment. I'm considering taking a break from lyric writing

[avatar]

πŸ˜€ Good one!!

[avatar]
@geoff61

Thanks Patty, I still feel like I am struggling a little with ideas though πŸ˜… πŸ˜• πŸ™ƒ

[avatar]
@nadine

You're welcome you do good stuff!

[avatar]

im no beatles expert either. thats just the way i heard it. i dont think david was employing one style or another. i feel thats just the way it came out of him.

[avatar]

Cool Patty I'm checking out the "I Hate Love"s now :-)
Re: S&G I took a look online to see what folks might encounter if they looked it up and hadn't known the books. The Wikipedia entry is underwhelming. However, I found this rather cool video that not only reads the book, but does neat video and soundbed things dwelling on the art itself.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpc1LXl90Rs
I watched the whole thing through and was glad I did. I had these books in the 90's but they made it onto the giveaway pile at some point. I'd forgotten the part that says, "You can't dismiss a Muse at will." Something for me to remember when FAWMing seems to drag or be heavy :-)
Cheers!

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks for reading my skirmish lyrics The Worst in You. You are very kind! I do enjoy writing about dark things. They have a dramatic feeling that I like.

[avatar]

Haha! I need you to be my editor. You were right about light bulbs coming on rather than going off. I will need to fix that before it hits the Top 40! πŸ˜€

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thanks again, Patty, for the lift of your kind words. Glad you enjoyed how the number with Andrea's I'm Always on the Defense turned out.

[avatar]
@oswlek

Thanks for giving "Tea" a listen, Patty, and for your heartfelt comment. It means a lot.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thanks, Patty, for checking out @cindyrella and my little number and thanks for your encouraging comments.

[avatar]

Thank you, Patty! It's been very fun for me to collab with other writers--I would have never dreamt of writing such confident bar chat and what's funny is my "character" singing really enjoyed it :) I'm going to catch up on yours soon!

[avatar]
@geoff61

thanks Patty re the comment on my latest

[avatar]
@nadine

Thanks for your kind words on "The Wind". I'm glad you enjoyed and I hope we can make it final someday. I like the melody, but I'm not a fan of my vocals.

[avatar]

You are very welcome Patty. It is lovely to hear your collaborations. Thank you for all your kind support.

[avatar]
@geoff61

A great write that one Patty, very nice.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thanks, Patty, for listening in and commenting on Geoff's and my I Can't Take Goodbyes. Always grateful for your encouraging words.

[avatar]
@sunfire

Thanks for checking out & commenting on Hammerhead.
Yes, you're right. Those lines capture the essence of what the main character in the write needs to know.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Aw, shucks. Thank you, ma'am.

[avatar]
@geoff61

Thanks Patty, TBH I've been struggling a little with lack of ideas for about a week, I listened to a few Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge songs at the weekend and that opened the tap a little

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks for checking out It's Summer. You are very sweet.

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thank you, thank you, dear girl, for your generous and sweet words about Summertime is the Best Time. Such a fun project and I'm pretty tickled with how it came out. Glad you liked!

[avatar]
@sheslin

You know I just realized it is written from the male perspective so you have an excellent point. I was so captivated by the structure I did not even notice. I will let David take this one as I now agree it would be better with a male voice the way it is written. Thanks!!

[avatar]
@gm7

Thx Patty. You having a great 5090...it's fun, isn't !

[avatar]

Thanks Patty, glad you liked Oblivion

[avatar]
@esc4p3

Awww, thank you *blushes*

[avatar]

Thank you for your comment on Wicked Wild World. Those were really strong lyrics to work with, glad you enjoyed the result πŸ˜„

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the comment on 'Be Alive', it was an interesting experiment using the keyboard rhythm.

[avatar]

Thanks for all your very nice comments. I like your lyrics a lot! I don't really get involved on the collab side of 50/90 but I will enjoy continuing to see yours now that I've got you on my watchlist.

[avatar]
@marthie

Thank you for listening!

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thanks, Patty. Glad you remembered Not To Live a Lie. I definitely changed some key lines, partly based on some your input back then, so it’s officially an update.

[avatar]

Thank you for the listens and comment, much appreciated!

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks, Patty, for your thoughtful comments. I always appreciate your support :)

[avatar]

I appreciate that! 4 a’s is the magic number…;)

[avatar]
@panch

Thanks so much for your comments on Welcome to the world Billy. We feel very blessed, he's grandchild number 3. And thanks for all your other comments, they mean a lot and are greatly appreciated.

[avatar]

thanks for the feedback on 'At Midnight' - i wasnt going to share it, because i think the piano is so 'stale' but im glad i did now :)

[avatar]

Hi Patty, you asked about private messaging and Slack. Private messaging is not available, see https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/forums/84 . However, there is a Slack instance that we can use: https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/forums/59 . Slack is a chat tool, similar to WhatsApp and the likes. You can create an account for free there, and there are apps for using it on different devices. There is a #general channel where people meet up to chat about everyday and fun stuff. You can also send direct messages to people there. Plus, it’s possible to create own channels there to discuss things in a group.

[avatar]

You are very welcome, Patty. It is truly amazing to collaborate with Kate. She is very talented and creative and her vision for the lyrics is amazing. Your lyrics were of inspiration to Kate and both of you made this magical song happen. Thank you both very much. It was wonderful to hear your collaborative work.

[avatar]

i npow kate did all the vocals. that is why i completmented her on it.

[avatar]

Thanks for your comments on "Look Sharp"!

[avatar]
@crisp1

Thanks for all your recent comments, Patty!

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thanks for checking out "Second Time Round", Patty. Praise on lyrics from a writer like yourself is highly valued and I'm sure @cicpisces is glowing.

[avatar]
@phlex

Thanks for the lovely comment! @asterix is doing the main vocal, and @bettyhammer is doing the whisper vocal!

[avatar]

Thanks for your kind comment on the lyrics to 'Do you know what you didn't need?'. Here's the song with music: https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/songs/1636

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you!

[avatar]
@geoff61

Thanks Patty, I'm really enjoying 50/90 this year, my life is stressful just now and this outlet is great for me.

[avatar]
@sunfire

Hey and thanks for commenting on my writes . Enjoy reading and listening to your lyrics and songs too.

[avatar]

Thanks for your comment on Cowbell Swing. πŸ˜€ Being new to fawm, I took some time to check out the customs and traditions and found that every committed fawmer musician should probably at some point or other perform a cowcore and slothcore song. πŸ˜‰

[avatar]

Thank you for your kind comment in the Lyrics to My son

[avatar]
@geoff61

Thanks Patty for your comments, your approval means a lot to me, BTW you are putting a stellar shift in yourself here :-)

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the comment on my collab with Geoff!

[avatar]

Hi, thanks for your lovely words about Nothing Special, it's means a lot!

[avatar]

Truly appreciate the words on Improvisation 1, thank you so much! It means a lot. :)

[avatar]
@mikeb

Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Lonely City'!

[avatar]
@fuzzy

Thanx for the note.
Yeah, I do have a lot of fun in my underground bunker!

[avatar]

Thank you for your comment on" Joplinesque." Lots of things are easy to do when you know how. I just got done watching the baseball home run derby, and those guys make it look super easy even though I know it's no such thing.

[avatar]

Thank you for you kind comments Patty

[avatar]

Thank you for your comments, much appreciated.
Cheers

[avatar]
@kristi

Thank you for your comments on my lyrics! It's always great to hear which lines resonate with others!

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thank you so much, Patty, for the very kind comments about I'm Not Sick.

There are so many talented lyricists here, @stephenwordsmith and yourself certainly included, that I keep just wanting to put these wonderful things to music and sing them that I can't seem to get around to composing any lyrics myself quite yet. Hoping to get off the schneid on that shortly.

[avatar]

Something to look forward to! :)

[avatar]

i prefer romance to love. just standinbg at a bus stop , waitng for the bus with someone you like can feel cool. whe people fall in lovee, they act goony.and it can be obnoxious dealing with that imposed emotion. im writing a song now called love is a promise. which can be either a good or a bad thing, but its preferable to abstract feelings that force everyone into role playing wich they eventually resent.

[avatar]

Thanks for your kind comments, Patty!! I really appreciate your feedback :) We will need to do a #TwinProfilePic collab challenge before the summer ends. No need for a distortion pedal. We can do whatever we both decide! What do you say?

[avatar]

Thank you for all the comments, and I'm glad you're enjoying my gallery of unusual instruments! Instruments such as the taishogoto and the piano dulcimer didn't take me too long to learn to play because I already played similar instruments or instruments laid out in similar ways, and the skills were transferable. The taishogoto in particular was a quick learn because it was laid out like a piano and played a bit like an autoharp. (It does help that the keys are numbered.)

[avatar]
@geoff61

Thanks Patty you are having a great time here I can see that πŸ˜€

[avatar]

Thank you so much for your comments on several of my songs - much appreciated!

[avatar]

The lyricists here are like wildflowers in a meadow, varied and all beautiful to sample. I am having the best time.

[avatar]
@nadine

You're welcome!

[avatar]

Hi Patty, It Wasn't Me was a fun lyric to experiment with GarageBand. I am still learning how to use that program, I have issues with timing and syncing, but I was happy with the result. Seems to have positive comments from listeners.

[avatar]

Hi Patty, thanks for your lovely comments on The Wild Carrick Shore. I've listened to a couple of your collabs and am so impressed. Looking forward to hearing more.

[avatar]
@nadine

You're welcome! To me it's a mystery how to wrote not obvious love song lyrics ^^ But maybe that's also because I'm not a poet and native speaker.

[avatar]
@gm7

Thx west coast friend. Glad you enjoyed it. From your east coast friend!

[avatar]

Hi Patty, you are very welcome. It was amazing to listen to your gorgeous song with David.

[avatar]
@andrea

Thanks for your comments on The Call of the Void. It's just a little scary. I find this phenomenon strangely intriguing πŸ˜‰

[avatar]

Hi Patty, thank you for your kind comments and support :)

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thank you, Patty, for checking out β€œClock Into Our Life” and your kind comments!

[avatar]

Thanks so much for your very kind comment on 'Gratitude' πŸ˜€

[avatar]

@greengrassgirl Shared some music for Into the Well with you via private messaging on Muse Songwriters. πŸ˜€

[avatar]

Love your comment on @matthijs 'The Distance Between Us' πŸ˜‚

[avatar]

Thanks for commenting on my song 'Don't Let it Slide'. Nice to know it's appreciated.

Patty, thanks for all your recent comments. I'll come back and give a look at your lyrics, hopefully tonight.

Thank you for that note of confidence! I'm so frustrated at losing the start of 5090 (last year got wiped out by other things) but I'm aiming to bob up and start listening and writing 1 August!

@brisk

Ha ha - I have no idea what I'd rather be called - I wish there was some way to combine my various 'nomes des plume'(?). I guess I'm going to have to be @brisk on here, or else it is going to get even more confusing. Thanks for listening to Second Chances! I've learned to hate it over the past few hours, but perhaps that's just what happens when you've just put something down.

I copied your comment about the bow tie blouse on the song comments so others could enjoy another firsthand experience. Ha! Thanks so much for sharing.

Thanks, Patty, for checking out my first post. This started out as one theme and morphed into a whole new idea (no pun intended!).

Have a great 50/90, Patty!

Hi Patty! We may have to do a twin profile pic challenge (although I don’t even own a distortion pedal) :) hope you’re having a lovely summer. Happy 50/90

They are both guitar sound effects. I have no such pedals either however my DAW can make those effects for both guitar and MIDI keyboard :) .

Good to see you back, have a great 50/90
