Vacation time! Iโ€™ll be off August 15th - 29th. Hope I can continue listening and commenting, maybe even writing some lyrics, but wonโ€™t have access to my gear. Any unfinished collabs will be continued!

โ€”

Hi there from Germany! ๐Ÿ‘‹ This is my first 50/90. You'll usually find me over on https://www.musesongwriters.com, from where (@)donna lured me here. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜€

A classical he/him/his, born 1981, I work as a software developer and have been making music as a hobby all my life. I play the classical guitar, but because of my love for all sorts of instruments and styles I mostly make all music in the box. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

My hopes for 50/90 are that it'll help me break my tendency to overthink things, and get in touch with other musicians for a little fun.๐Ÿ˜„ (2 weeks in now and I can already state that: yes, it helped!)

In that spirit, I'm open for collaborations of all kinds! Also, if you'd like to redo/cover something I did, or need some help with your tracks, or you'd like some insight into my libraries, settings, projects, just post me a message. ๐Ÿ™‚

Feel free to criticize *anything* about my songs, incl. bad recording, being out of tune, whatever. As a non-native speaker, I especially welcome all language advice, be it words, phrases, or simply grammar or spelling - these things really help me improve my language skills, so don't hold back!

Please don't read it as impolite if I don't say thank you for one of your comments. I definitely appreciate them! It's just that I want to listen to lots of your songs, so I'll rather listen and comment your songs than posting thank yous on your board. ๐Ÿ˜€

@atitlan

Thanks for the comment on 'October Skies' - the whole dream idea wasn't there until after I'd done the weird tempo change bit. Writing during 50/90 does odd things with song development.

[avatar]

Yes send me a link to the guitar and guide track please

[avatar]

Thanks for your feedback on Hazy Orange Moon. I think you're right on that suggestion. The lyric didn't initially start with the question of the protagonist potentially killing their partner so I'll have to go back and rework the beginning a bit to match.

[avatar]

my email is aburozskiwork@gmail.com, feel free to drop me a line and we can throw some ideas at the wall (like a game of spring ball!!)

[avatar]

yes please to the star trek collab! i also never learned klingon :( but if you have some pieces i could sample/chop, that would be awesome!

[avatar]

Hi Florian!
Sehr gerne! Das beeindruckt mich sehr! Hab keine Ahnung, wie Du das gemacht hast - es รผbersteigt bei weitem meine Fรคhigkeiten. Die ganze Komposition klingt ziemlich professionell!

[avatar]

Fine fanfare-inspired sounds that make the listener think of royalty or majestic spaceโ€ฆthe final frontier!

[avatar]

Yes!!! I would love that!!!

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you! We will work on the song after this festival, so the final versoin can take some months. Most likely I'll share on SoundCloud or YouTube someday.

[avatar]

Yup that scene is hilarious. . It was โ€œLet it beโ€. I love how they keep interrupting and also getting the name wrong! The first half of that film was fantastic the second half disappointing, I am really relaxed about this issue of listening but it is very funny! The irony here of course is that more people are listening to my song about people not listening to my song than my other songs!

[avatar]

plz at some point let me hear your star trek theme...i'm foaming at the mouth! thanks for letting me jam on bubbles, it was fun!

[avatar]

Thank you for listening

[avatar]

Ha, yes, I've heard of a few cases of people sneaking that sort of thing into terms and conditions. Also it reminds me of some bands that put really odd things into their riders, to check that they're actually being read. Anyway, thanks for the listen and the comment!

[avatar]

Thanks for the comment.
I really dont think the "internet women" Care of you got a beard or not or even your gender ๐Ÿ˜ƒI mean they send sh*t to me and I am a Woman who does NOT wear a beard ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

[avatar]

Love what you did for Extra-Dimensional! I went ahead and posted it, hope that's okay. Thanks so much for the collaboration

[avatar]

Thanks for the explanation of slack. I hadn't heard of that before. You said:
"Guess most have an e-mail address in their profile, but I can't see any button to send something there? Only option I found is leaving public comments on people's profiles."
Go to Edit Profile....and click: Add Link/Email. On my Edit Profile page that box shows up as mailto: (and my email address). When I clicked Submit, it placed an envelope icon up where the other links are. See if that works for you?

[avatar]

Florian...what's this "private messaging on FAWM's slack?" Is PM available to us here?

[avatar]

Florian--you referenced "the private messaging on FAWM's Slack". What does that mean and where is it?

[avatar]

Ich hatte eine Idee fรผr ein Chorus. Was meinst Du, geht das?

@aneil

Wow thx for the collaboration I like it very much I have added you as a collaborator would you like to edit the song and add the link ?

[avatar]

Thanks for your kind comment on "We Are Home." Definitely it doesn't always work out and can ruin a friendship so it can be scary... and at the same time it's good to be best friends in a relationship! Crazy! lol

[avatar]
@aneil

Hi I have fixed the demo for Coralie is my Love. thx for your input

[avatar]
@nadine

Thank you! Maybe that's a nice prompt for some blackgaze (literally). A genre I always wanted to try, but I have no idea if my VST guitars are able to (a) work in alternate tunings and (b) heavy trem picking and (c) deal with heavily effected software amps. Such a bummer I cannot play guitar well enough and don't own an electric...

[avatar]
@nadine

Hmmm can you please explain your mention and comment? Should I take these lyrics? Or wrote metal song about starring people?!

[avatar]
@beacon

Florian, I am experimenting with lots of styles, but I think you probably have my standard, bardic style in your mind.

[avatar]
@aneil

Thx for your comments on It Figures, I still have no idea about the music for this would you fancy a try. Sorry about the access to the other song I will upload it on SoundCloud and let you know

[avatar]
@jeff9

Thanks for taking a listen to Normandy, Florian. The challenge thing on Muse isn't really a contest, but maybe it's prudent to hold comments until all the projects have been posted. Deadline tomorrow, I think.

[avatar]
@esc4p3

Thank you Florian for your comments about my 'Surprising Symphony', I especially love your "saying hi" tune :-)

[avatar]

Thanks for your lovely comments on my song The Water. The whole Hounds of Love album for me is just brilliant, but especially "And Dream of Sheep" is such an evocative and haunting song, it has really stayed with me. Was definitely imagining that story in my head as I was writing this. I'm glad you enjoyed listening to the song :)

[avatar]

I noticed you didn't get much response to your "I Enjoy Being a Girl" idea. It might help if you were to make a new forum thread that was specifically for discussing that.

[avatar]
@nadine

I tried to write swing and electro swing some months ago, but I just realised, that I have no clue about jazz theory (or music theory in general) and that my piano playing sucks. I learned it as a kid and I still play like somebody who has started 1-2 years ago. All my attempts to improve failed which is why I switched to guitar. Let's see if it works better, at least it's more fun. Maybe it's better to focus on what I'm good at: composition, arrangement and production.

[avatar]

Thank you for the very kind comments on my 'Non Auditus' track! Yeah it's come out far better than I could have hoped, though I feel I chickened out a bit by making an ambient track as they're more forgiving when it comes to song structure. I lucked-out by choosing some good pads to work together, at least!

[avatar]
@beacon

If you can do something in my style, I'd be really interested to see what it sounds like! Go for it!

[avatar]

I'm so glad you felt brave and comfortable enough to post Unprepared. I've found wading through sloppy parts of living gives me permission to go ahead and write the lyrics about anything and everything. It's like doors open and I realize there are so many people who are bailing similar boats. Hmmm. That makes me think that some of those songs are still floating around unfinished. Maybe I'll look at some of them in 50/90.

[avatar]

Thanks for your comment on "Land of the Free". I am being a bit flippant, I've changed my mind in internet discussions too, although this is a topic where I don't think I've ever seen a productive discussion... and, yes, British and European politics don't always make sense to me either...

[avatar]

Heh...excellent xylophone-playing squirrel! (Half a second after the moment captured in this picture, the squirrel lost interest and ran up a telephone pole.)

[avatar]
@atam94

Hey thanks for listening to "Sunlight Bouncing On The Window" and subscribing on YouTube!

[avatar]

Thank you for your comment! I am very fond of the sound of the xylophone and the way it can tie a piece of music together without anyone ever realising it's there.

[avatar]

Hi Florian! ๐Ÿ™‚
Iโ€™m strictly a lyricist, I hadnโ€™t given a whole lot of thought to the genre of music to go with my writing.

[avatar]
@nadine

I had a long and deep thought about that topic, dealing with technology and philosophy both. Many of my problems would be solved, but after 3 months I came to the result that it is more scary than cool. It would make art too easy, disposeable, redundant and cold. It gives more more the possibility to express themselves but its harder to be found and recognised. There are already mastering tools and drum machines working with AI. Its hard to distinguish in between helpful tools and killing creativity. Maybe it's time to write down my thoughts...

[avatar]
@nadine

Even as tech nerd, I must admit that the GAN development is scary... so it could turn any description into a kind of painting?!

[avatar]

Florian, Thanks for your kind comments on Broken! I loved what David did with those lyrics! I see you have some new songs up here for me to explore!

[avatar]

ha no need for apology! i found it funny and i could really imagine it! and i understand the practicalities that led to it and really liked the outcome of the song.

[avatar]

Thank you for your comments! <3

[avatar]

Hi Florian. ๐Ÿ˜„
Thank you for listening and commenting.
Thank you also for the link to the SWAM flutes! One of the toys on my bucket list is a breath controller of some kind, so these libraries look really interesting! I love the sound and dynamics of the flute, and it's one of my lifelong regrets that I can't produce sound from them. Which is why I stuck with recorders all my life. ๐Ÿ˜‰

[avatar]

Hi Florian

I will send an email early next week. I love the idea of something โ€˜i see fireโ€™ / lord of the rings in lyric.

[avatar]

@florianhoffmann thanks for flagging the issue you're having with my tunes on Windows machines - I'll test on a few of my Windows boxes here and get back to you. My money is on some Quicktime weirdness from Ableton, as I have been too lazy to convert my mixdowns myself and have just used the default 320 CBR MP3 settings that Ableton provides on Mac

[avatar]

Hi Florian, thank you for your kind reply. I'll connect with you via Soundcloud and we can see what works best. Thank you.

[avatar]

Hi Florian. The pleasure was all mine. It's a very calming piece - I've been listening to it during some of the more admin-heavy tasks at work today, and it makes it all so much more enjoyable.

I'll have to check out the rest of your output this year.

[avatar]
@donna

Simply gorgeous, Florian. ๐Ÿ˜Š It took me on a wonderful journey. (I've sent you a PM on Muse.)

[avatar]

Hi Florian! It looks like we are paired for a random collaboration. Loved the ballad you did with Stephen. I generally write lyrics and am happy to write some for you to put to music if you would like. Would you like a similar genre to Personals? Is there another genre you would like or a topic you would like or would want me to avoid? Looking forward to it! Liz

[avatar]

Hey, thanks for letting me know about the error with my video. Should be fixed now :)

[avatar]

Hello Florian. Welcome to 50/90. I too started thanks to Donna. I absolutely love your collaboration with Stephen and I'm looking forward to hearing more of your music and collaborations. I love collaborating. If anything of mine is of interest to you I'd be delighted to collaborate with you. I also love creating music to an idea/theme/mood, etc. Unfortunately due to my primitive set up I'm not able to add my music to the recording but I'm very happy to send you a piano part if you find it of interest. Have a wonderful and creative Summer.
Nadia

[avatar]

Permission granted, mein Freund. Thank you for listening (reading, I suppose) and your kind offer. I look forward to hearing what you come up with. Good luck for 5090!
