Hi, I'm Didi. I play various instruments to accompany my singing. I have limited experience with DAWs (I have Cubase elements 11) and would really like to multi-track some songs from scratch. I play electric bass, double bass, acoustic guitar, piano, recorders of various sizes and the piano accordion. I have set some Brecht and Shakespeare to music for the Medway Little Theatre, recently set five poems by Dickens to music, and have written a lot of songs on guitar and a couple on piano. I had signed up to 50/90 a couple of times but had writer's block which I'm hoping I'm coming out of now.

I am autistic so find it difficult to give feedback but I'll try!

I have done FAWM in February a few times, the first time I wrote 13 songs then only a couple each time but am hoping to be more prolific this summer. unfortunately I am sick so I haven't written much.

I have been unable to upload to Soundcloud due to some glitch so have now changed to Bandcamp

Yay! I've sent you another mail, because I've sent you the wrong backing... sry! Hope you got everything now. Have a nice weekend 😊

Thanks for your kind words on "Seven of Swords". Actually, non of my songs are available for collaboration (I have the details in my bio), but I appreciate your interest!

[avatar]

I’m so excited that you’d like to collaborate on The Fool. Hooray.

@nadine

Ok, I've sent again!

@nadine

Thank you! I've sent you a mail some days ago. Did you get it? I could send again.

@nadine

I'm relieved, thanks! You got a mail!

I have absolutely no idea how a double bass would sound on the "Quarterlife Blues" as the current bassline is written for an e-bass. We can try, I can give you the tabs / sheet music or come up with an own idea. The guitars will stay as fuzzy as in the demo, I'll just re-record some tracks and David will add a solo. If interested, write a mail, so I can send you the material.

Thanks for all your nice comments! Japanese sounding parts?! Hmm, I hope my English is not as bad. But if you mean the scale, I'm fine. I still don't feel like a singer 😂

You are very welcome, Didi. Thank you for every comment you so generously posted on my submissions. Looking forward to more songs from your beautiful page.

A friend taught me that you can set any Shakespeare Sonnet to Sweet Home Alabama. The example he used was When in Disgrace with Fortune and Men’s Eyes. It’s so much fun to pick up a sonnet or psalm or paragraph in a novel and try to find a rhythm for it. Look forward to hearing your songs.

Hi Didi. By all means, send it through. I'm about to turn in for the night, but I would love to listen in the morning. Thank you for bringing it to life!

[avatar]

Hi Didi, yes, of course, I'll be delighted to collaborate with you. Thank you so much.

Hi Didi. Thanks for your comment on Alone. I appreciate it!

Buddy the Beast!!! Great!
Funny: I just loged in after I saw I have posted my message on your soundboard two times - and then you posted your answer three times! :-)))) where will this end?
Maybe bass players have too fast fingers?
Also very nice to read you named your instruments too and that they also have a gender!
(Shall I post this four times? Mmmhhh .... )

Hi Didi :-) thanks for listening and commenting on Cold in the sunshine!
On this song I didn‘t played the bass by myself. I used a loop cause it is too fast for me yet. But I play it on all other songs I have posted here. And my goal is to record my own playing as often as I could.
She ( my bass is female and her name is Bluemoon) is an Ibanez. She my first one yet but I dream about an fretless next … :-) cause I love the special sound you can get with a fretless.
I got lots of respect if someone plays the double bass like you! It needs a lot of strength to play the strings! And it is interesting that your voice also shows a lot of strength, too.

aw i get stuck between songs every time, well most times, not so much for my first three because they were there for the taking, but usually i get stuck. Just write something anyway, just to clear out the block, this is the ideal place to try posting something you are not 100% happy with, and doing that, for me, is a good unblocker

Hi, Didi! Thank you for your wonderful comment on “The Space Deep Inside.” I am egregiously behind in listening to songs. I will take the time to do so. Thank you for your support. Keep writing. We got this!

@aneil

Thx for your comment on crazy caravan bloke I hope to record a new demo for this soon have a fabulous 5090

[avatar]

Wowsers - didnt mean to make you cry!! thanks so much for stopping by and listening to my song. I really appreciate it

[avatar]

Yes Did we did in fact find a unicorn jack-in-the-box. I had never heard of one before she asked LOL. Thanks for asking 😀

[avatar]

Wow! It looks like we both followed the same path into music!
And I know what you mean about getting a recorder into a band. I threw a cat among the pigeons during FAWM this year and released an EP of recorder tunes, some of which featured my tenor running through a ridiculously overdriven guitar amp. https://dragondreams.bandcamp.com/album/the-dance-of-the-fickle-fipple-fairy 😉
I'll definitely check out Lapis Lazuli!
My albums all get released on my Bandcamp page as "pay what you like - even free" because all the proceeds go to MacMillan Cancer Support, and I'll be uploading "From Here To Naïveté" there later in the year when I tidy up the rough edges. So please feel free to snag a copy. 😄

[avatar]

Didi, I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the time you've spent inflicting my tunes on your ears! I'm blown away by your kind comments. 😊

[avatar]

hiya, thanks for the folllow and nice to e-meet you 😀

Hi Didi, thank you for your kind comment on my movie challenge piece. It was fun to listen to your song. As I occasionally have problems with my keyboard I've learnt to copy and paste when needed so I thought I'd share with you :) Looking forward to more of your songs. Have a great Summer time.
