Hello everyone! It’s 2023 and 5090 is starting. Looking forward to hearing you and maybe collaborating.

I do tend to mix the ‘spoken word’ offerings ( none of which I’ve done this year so far!!) and regular lyrics and do the same musically sometimes writing songs and at others getting into ‘tracks’- I’ve had a long spate of loving to experiment with apps like thumbjam, figure, beatwave and so on. Not sure what I will be doing this year.
I play a smattering of instruments but here you’ll most likely find me on keys.
FYI anything I put up is open to collaboration and I love joining forces with other people.

Update: it’s now august and to my surprise I’ve clocked up quite a few songs. This year there seems to have been a ‘cabaret style ‘ (who knew?) trend. Apologies that these are mostly incredibly rough single takes warts and all - often working out the music as I go along. But for me 5090 has already proved to be so much more than ( and now I can’t complete the sentence because wgat would one think it is??) .. it’s been amazingly positive.

I’ve uploaded a few purely electronic numbers. I like to play around with different approaches and genres.

Thank you tunecat, you are a hero for listening to so many of my songs and leaving lovely comments!
[avatar]
@kc_
HI TC, just listened to Woodsmoke again and am so in love with the piano composition and playing. Tx again!
[avatar]
Yes, I'm fine with it going live! :)
[avatar]
Hi, thanks for commenting on "Serene". My apologies for not responding till now.
The song was a collaborative effort. I believe the group began with a topic to write a song about. Then we added music (chord progressions), and gradually added lyrics to the song, line by line, based on the topic.
[avatar]
The song is working for me. Odd. I'll double-check.
[avatar]
Thanks for your comment on "Monsieur Lovin" - glad you enjoyed!
[avatar]
Emailed you my idea for Blue Moon :)
[avatar]
No problem! :)
[avatar]
I need 12 to get to 50 so please send something along! My only rules lyrically are that the song has to be safe for kids. 😀
[avatar]
Thanks for connecting with your 5 year old self to listen to The Shark Is Fierce 😁
[avatar]
Thanks for listening to "Hold on to their hand"
[avatar]
Thanks for your comment on "Chuck Taylor High Top Shoes" -- those mod fashions definitely showed up again in US high schools in the mid-nineties!

Thanks, too, for the kind notes on "It’s Weird" and "Sublimation (The Water Cycle)."
[avatar]
Thanks for your overnight comments too! Although now I’m concerned about when you ever sleep?!
[avatar]
Yes, upload it please! Can't wait to hear it
[avatar]
Hi! My general feeling about collabs is I'm pretty open to other people's interpretations of my lyrics -- especially knowing I might do my own acoustic version at some point. So you're welcome to upload it and tag me as a collaborator. :)
[avatar]
Thanks for listening, Tunecat!
[avatar]
Hi, no problems if you want to set I Really Am Good Value to music. I don't mind there being more than one version
[avatar]
I love it! Title stays. Nice addition.
[avatar]
Sure! I’m game for you to post before I hear it. New song it is!
[avatar]
Thanks very much for checking out the lyrics on "To Get Past You." :)
[avatar]
Hi Liz! What’s your preference: for me to add you as collaborator to the original so you can then add your demo, or to start your own song page with me as collaborator? A new song page has the advantage of appearing in the song feed briefly. Either works for me.
[avatar]
I really appreciate your nice feedback on my skirmish/reunion song. I shared it with my family because it made me so happy :)
[avatar]
How 'bout sending me a couple of odd musical tracks and letting me play around with them? My email is on my home page. I'm game for any style.
[avatar]
Thank you for the kind words on "Autumn Intentions". I had to look up what an "annacrusis" was--haha. Really glad it worked!
[avatar]
Thanks for all your comments! No pressure on additional haikus. I've got to get the programming done to make them presentable anyway. Don't know what you mean by a 10x10 challenge - I'm new to FAWM this past Feb. and this 50/90 have done one skirmish and some enjoyable collabs. Sure! - glad to add spoken voice; any approach you like. And all 10 of the ones I put up are fine to work with - re-dos would be interesting. Onward!
[avatar]
One great thing is that you can add tracks to existing songs in October. I'll plan to be around listening. In the mean time if there are songs you'd especially like me to listen to, let me know.
[avatar]
Re: haiku collab invite. I have a ton more haikus waiting in the wings and will give you access to them for your review if you like, but can't get to that for a little while.
[avatar]
Hi TC! Have at it with Never to Far! That would be great! Manipulate as needed. Would love to hear what you have.
[avatar]
Thanks for picking another song I've been involved in. I appreciate your visit to "It's Only the Moon".
[avatar]
I'm glad you arrived at "The Day I Arrive". Thanks for the listen and the comment.
[avatar]
Hey, Liz - getting diagnosed with ADHD sounds like an intense and interesting journey. I watch a lot of little videos about ADHD and they seem very familiar.
[avatar]
Thanks so much for your comment, I had been feeling disheartened with 50/90, but I feel the will to press on thanks to your lovely feedback. And I had been listening to a lot of Japanese ambient works.
[avatar]
Hi Liz, thanks for the comments (on "Graves'" and "How to get there"). A collab would be wonderful: I'm not entirely sure as to how they work (I'm off to read the guidelines!) -- let me know if you have anything in mind, thanks 😊
[avatar]
Thanks for your comment on "Personal Beef" and your kind adage. :)
[avatar]
Thanks for the listen and comment on So $&#%ing Happy. I appreciate you taking the time!
[avatar]
Thank you for your comment on "Say You'll Come Home." :)
[avatar]
Thanks and thad be great!
[avatar]
Honestly all i can make out is "when the night gets hard", "something i know, oh darlin'" lolol
[avatar]
Thank you for not backing away from Cruel Chamomile! You are courageous lady, indeed! The slightly "off time" of the notes are dependent on the nature of a farmyard orchestra. It's totally uneducated. I liked the guitar sound for this piece, but didn't bother to use the real thing. Artificial sounds here too!
[avatar]
Hello! Thanks for your comments on Mellotromatic Seedling! I found the rhythm sounds in a Garage Band electronic drum kit called Abstract Thought. Exactly what kind of sounds they are remain a mystery.
[avatar]
Hi Liz,
What a nice surprise!! Yes, please send to my email link on my page. I won’t have the opportunity to listen right away, due to being in a workshop for a couple more hours. Thanks!
[avatar]
I took the time to look up ireel b on YouTube, and found a good video by Ken Baker that explains the program. It would take me some time to learn how to. Usse it, but I will keep it in mind for a next step in my learning. Thanks for the information.
[avatar]
Hi, Liz - thanks for checking in. I hope I’ll be back to listening and posting his week. Hope your getting through the house stuff.
[avatar]
In fact, I see you’ve checked out so many of my recent songs. I appreciate it more than I can say. It’s so nice to see your thoughtful feedback. Thank you.
[avatar]
Also (catching up on comments) — thanks for reading the lyrics to "Apple Blossom" — bower is such a rich word! And on "The Most Violet Violets" — now I want violet eyes.
[avatar]
Thanks, too, for your kind comments
on "You Make the Stars Fall,” “Roots,” and "Dig Me Up if You’re Dying!”
[avatar]
Hi! I got your note about "Satan, No!" -- whatever you prefer! If you'd like to send me a couple versions, I'll be happy to receive them. Or a backing track, though that sounds like more work for you. Or if it's just not working for you, I would never take personal offense! :)
[avatar]
Thanks for the comments on my Violet tune. Please explain this part of your comment. . “Have you tried something like Ireal b - cheap- to add in the chords ? “ Not sure what you mean. But I often pick a drum beat and it helps me to get the correct syllables, and helps me with pronouncing the words. But never tried it in a skirmish, fast and fun.
[avatar]
thanks! :-)
[avatar]
Hi, again, Liz. Sorry the player didn't work so you could hear When It Happened as well as read the lyrics. Hope you'll try again, because @tuesdaygray did a fantastic job with this one. Thanks for your enthusiasm for the lyrics. I hope you'll get to hear the song.
[avatar]
What a prolific writer you are! Thanks for your comments on @berni1954's and my collab, The Trouble With Women. That's what brought me here where I am having lots of fun exploring your page.
[avatar]
It’s on YouTube at least… https://youtu.be/jERUjoz9P30?feature=shared . FWIW, it’s one of my favourite records I’ve heard this year. Let me know if you love/hate it! She was (is?) a pretty interesting musician.
[avatar]
The power of music - helping me to keep some kind of connection with my Dad - helping you to deal with past traumas! You mentioned your song Open The Doors in your reply to my comment - I notice it’s currently locked on here. If you decide to unlock it (but absolutely no pressure to do so), would you let me know please? :-)
[avatar]
Thanks for the comment on Non-player Character! I added some things via midi keyboard, though the ukes and harmonica are live.
[avatar]
Ah of course. I knew that somewhere deep back in the brainfog. Thanks for the info.
[avatar]
Thanks for the comment on "twilight suns"! But isn't this more 12312? As in the accent on the third beat? No idea, it's quite uncharted territory for me, just curious.
[avatar]
We haven't gone yet! Had to delay the start until this coming Sunday...
[avatar]
@aeye
You should absolutely go for Mozart 13! I bet it would be a fun rework.
[avatar]
Thanks for listening and commenting on "Forever, for now!" I'm always happy when someone likes one of my weirder pieces.
[avatar]
It was lovely to meeet and hear you in person, too! Looking forward to the next event, whenever that may be...
[avatar]
Thank you for all your kind words -- it's very gratifying to hear (and read) that you enjoyed my interpretation. Thank you for letting me do it!
[avatar]
You are welcome anytime! And maybe you will find a dish of anchovies waiting for you on the floor. (Or a fat, unobservant rat.)
[avatar]
Quick question, if you see this in time: I'm truly not sure if it's formally a part of the lyrics or just a comment directed at 50/90 commenters, but I'm tempted to leave in the "No innuendo" interlude -- I think it's pretty charming, and actually fits in well -- but if you want, I'll take it out. Let me know! (Or if I don't hear from you soon enough and I include it, I can always repost and take it out if you hate it.)
[avatar]
Working on Ha Ha Ha right now. Not sure if it’ll be done tonight (Saturday where I am) or tomorrow (Sunday).
[avatar]
I've heard of the Hicksters but haven't heard them! I'll keep an ear out!
[avatar]
Cool having you check out "Dichotomy," Liz, and digging it. You should put my lyric to music and vocals.
[avatar]
(Also: thanks! Skirmishing is my favourite!)
[avatar]
Ooh, local connections are fun! What name do your friends perform under?
[avatar]
thank you demo working now
[avatar]
Ha! Thanks for your kind notes on my profile -- I do tend to get REALLY into things I am into -- and FAWM is turning out to be one of those things. :)
[avatar]
Thanks so much for the comments on the lyrics to "Puddles of Cat" and "Why Walk Out On Me" -- I was born a little too late for disco, I think. :)
[avatar]
Thank you, Tunecat, for coming by my Joking Yokels, making a slow purring circle around them, before jumping on to a fence and disappearing back into that big, wild 50/90 jungle!
[avatar]
Hope you make it back, Tunecat for Narsissta.
[avatar]
Great to see some fawmer s in person @marilisa , @brisk @daveyboy103 … and I’ve met a couple online @jtsteam and @davidtaro and ( not sure of hashtag spoken word poet) just once before. Thanks to @wobbiewobbit for organising and for the fab ramshackle collective thanks @dragondreams for driving me from s yorkshire.
What a wonderful community! Hopefully now @steve2705 aka ‘the Steve’s’ ( I think that’s his name) will be joining ramshackle along with another friend of mine in London . Another newbie was the very talented ‘Evans’ who we all met for the first time last night.
[avatar]
Hey, Liz - sorry to miss last weeks Euro chat. I'm going to miss tomorrow's too. I sent you an email about finding a time to collaborate or hang out or whatever - could be after 5090 - cause I know you're busy with life stuff...
[avatar]
Hi Liz, sorry that the music wasn't on the page. I'm not sure why. I posted it then. It worked for me when I checked
https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/songs/30200
[avatar]
Glad you liked the 'Away from home' collab.
[avatar]
Thanks for that positive comment on the “ship aground” song! Sorry I haven’t given you many (or any!) comments yet, will get to it - up for some cabaret!
[avatar]
Hi
Sorry anyone who listened to open the doors the file hasn’t been edited - I did think it was a bit rough but not to that extent!!
[avatar]
not christmas..new years. you dont ring in the new years? re..tom waits. he is was an friend of mine in the late 70s (before he married and disappeared) and while i liked his music, especially when he was sitting at the piano, i have never felt a personal affinity for it. i dont sing in that fake louis armstrong voice either. (The singers who have influenced me are elvis, donovan. jim morrison, van morrison, brett anderson, and john lydon)
[avatar]
Thank you for your comments on 12 Bells. But Tom Waits? I was thinking more along the lines of André Previn. The 12 Bells signified (for me) the ringing in of the new year, and these two people would not be spending that new year together.
[avatar]
Thanks for listening and commenting on "I already wrote that song (Bad Song Club)!"
[avatar]
Oh, sorry, I got you wrong. All fine, noted! Have a nice evening :)
[avatar]
Hello again! Can you please give me a little hint in which genre or direction you'd like to push "Gloomy"? It's the first time I have such trouble hearing the final song. This weekend I may try different ideas and see what feels right.
[avatar]
Congrats on your 50!
What is this hangout you speak so fondly of?
I really don’t have 106 as some are duplicates as when a musician posts a song with my lyrics… and most my ‘songs’ are lyrics only which are quick additions!
[avatar]
Thank you! Last summer somebody started to write immediately while somebody else contacted me via mail. I just wanted to avoid that kind of trouble. Maybe it's best to set an entry deadline and see what happens :) You're on my list and I adapted the liner notes to avoid misunderstandings.
[avatar]
Looks like there will be multiple takers for the song, but I only want to produce one version. I taylor the arrangement for the voice and rights get too complex. Would it be OK for you to wait until Sunday, so I know more about who's up for what? I usually pick the person whose sound or idea fits the most into my vision. But if you already feel like drafting, I won't stop you from using your momentum.
[avatar]
Thanks for the kind words about Dingleberries. I definitely intended the meaning you included at the end of your comment and not the slang US alternate definition!
[avatar]
I look forward to hearing your musical interpretation of “Satan, No!” What I’ve been saying to folks is that it’s possible I will still someday create a version on uke but just because I like to be able to play and sing my songs acoustically — not based on whether or not I like the direction someone else takes a lyric!
[avatar]
Thanks for your comment! I'm happy you feel inspired and I look forward to your hearing or reading your idea. Please let me know if you need something. If you record vocals, it would be great to have an isolated track without effects.
[avatar]
Thanks, too, for your comment on “Satan, No!” I don’t have a musical idea for it yet, at all!
[avatar]
Catching up on comments — thanks, too, for giving "Wild Hearts" a read.
[avatar]
Thanks for checking out the lyrics for "The Little Apple (Manhattan, KS)!”
[avatar]
So glad you enjoyed Dared To Love, Liz. I thought that one by the other Liz
( @kahlo2013 )really hit the mark. Thank you.
[avatar]
Hi Liz, Thanks for the comments (Pop star) -- yes vocals are synthesised. tbh I tried to hide rather than emphasise that digital vocal sound ... but they take a bit of polishing and these refused to play nicely this time (wrong key maybe!).
[avatar]
Hey Liz... Go for it with music on 'Fireflies'. I was just writing a lyric without much thought of music.

I have one of your lyrics 'Open The Doors' but you said you were doing that one.
[avatar]
Many thanks for the kind words about Devil Holds the Throttle and TS Blues, Liz.

I can't take credit for doing all that amazing instrumentation, either live or otherwise. I use Band In a Box software on every track except the vocals in both of those. If you aren't familiar with it, you compose an initial sketch of your song (I do it on acoustic guitar) and then enter the chord changes and song structure into a sort of spreadsheet with options to designate which chords go in which measures (or half or quarter measures). You also designate where you intend there to be verses, choruses, bridge, etc, as well as what tempo and key you want. Then you audition samples of various instruments and combinations of instruments in the appropriate styles (played by actual pro studio musicians for BIAB) and try them on for size with your initial composition. It's almost magic how well the right samples can adapt to your setup. Even if they don't quite work, you can often manipulate them so they fit better. You can select and deselect to your heart's content and you can even instruct the playing on any track to give you a series of options for any particular segments of the song--not just the whole thing. It allows you to have certain instruments hold for a number of beats or to "shot" and even to come in and out off the primary beat. You import all that into your DAW (I just use Garageband) as a music bed and then you can add any additional tracks you might want to play or sing yourself. Or you can go back to BIAB and grab additional tracks from there. Then you get to play around with automation, effects, EQ, panning, etc. on the individual tracks and then eventually do further refining tweaks to the master.

So, I'm just sort of a composer/bandleader/singer. I can't play anything but some half-assed guitar and maybe peck around a teensy bit on a keyboard. Maybe I'll post a couple of more raw acoustic numbers for a change of pace and to de-slick things a bit.
[avatar]
Thanks for the comment on “If I’d Known,” and yes! I have been going in and marking a bunch of them open to collab, but I haven't gotten to them all and I am lazy with hashtags. It's on the to-do list. Thanks for the encouragement. :)
[avatar]
Ha ha, I refuse to be distance-shamed! I still might come, I'll see how lazy/dynamic I am on the day.
[avatar]
Glad you enjoyed Calling Out My Name, Liz. Thank you for your encouraging words.
[avatar]
TC! I'm at work, would you be able to post "Woodsmoke?" If not I'll do it to night! Tx!
[avatar]
Wow, thanks so much, Liz, for the very nice comments about A Beer With My Name On It.
[avatar]
Please do send along some lyrics; my email is alexklages at hotmail dot com if the link continues not to work!
[avatar]
Ah, and thanks for the comment on "C.W.O.B.F(J.N.)?" too, glad you liked that one. All pianoroll I should say - I'm pretty ham-fisted on the piano, even for something relatively simple.
[avatar]
Woah, you've done loads this year! Yes, I am in the UK, and I'm mulling over the 22nd. I'd like to be there, but it is a bit of a flog up from near Brighton and back after work. I think I'm erring on the side of not coming, but I might.
[avatar]
Thanks for the nice comment on the Frankenstein one! I go through phases and I’ve been a bit rocky riffy in the past few weeks!
[avatar]
Hey TC! Just listened to your recording of Woodsmoke and Firelight.. Very moody and winteresque, beautiful piano and performance. Will you be posting it?

Thanks for picking it up!

KC
[avatar]
Hello! I think we've been paired up for the random collab.
[avatar]
Thanks for looking at my lyrics for "Try THE TRUTH". I think the abandonment of any semblance of telling the truth by politicians and other leading figures in society is the worst social change I have witnessed in my lifetime. When it comes down to "my fantasy reality is as valid as your verifiable truth" we are allowing society to slip back into the dark ages.

I'm glad you looked that one up, because I had a melody for it, but I didn't record it on my Zoom H2n (my usual procedure for drafts) and I must try and get that jingle feel back and do a demo (when my voice is back to normal).
[avatar]
Thank you for taking the time to comment on Go To War! — I have a Joni Mitchell/Dylan era pocket in my heart, I think. Or soul.
[avatar]
Thanks for your comments on Dance or Die. I’m very influenced by the 80s!
[avatar]
yep, i was there briefly last week but was too tired to stay, hopefully today i am more awake!
[avatar]
Hey, Liz - I'll be late for tomorrows European call. I'm having lunch with a friend I haven't seen for a while, so I'll try not to keep checking the time...See you there.
[avatar]
In case you've not read it: T.S. Eliot, Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats.
In particular, "The Naming of Cats" and "The Ad-dressing of Cats"

https://www.fadedpage.com/books/20160525/html.php

This is, of course, the original work that inspired Webber to create that awful musical, These two poems are, I believe, not included in the musical.
[avatar]
I still didn't get it. But you can just post it if you'd like!
[avatar]
Thanks for tucking into "Sleep All Teddy Bears". Have you woken up yet?
[avatar]
Thanks for your comment on "No Regrets.' Yeah, I was having some odd issues with Logic (3 times this 50/90) so I ended up doing a little remix to simplify things.
[avatar]
Yes, the yellow cat is still with me. I had a hard time naming her, but her name came to me while listening to some classic rock: Queen.
So, her full, formal name is ...

Sumbuddy du Luv, Queen of Mercury

But she's usually "Buddy".
She's very much an in-door cat. I think she still recalls the quite intense storm that drove her into the cover of my porch ... and then into my apartment.
[avatar]
thanks liz.. been getting behind and waylaid but you have been busy! will get round to listening soon
[avatar]
Hey, Liz, sign up to do a morph by just letting Andy know by putting a comment in the morph thread https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/forums/1569
[avatar]
Thanks for the remarks on my pronoun write. You wonder if others will write one too on the subject? Maybe one or two more but more than that I doubt it. Too politically incorrect for many of them to not use a pronoun and to do so would be sacrilege. lol
[avatar]
Thanks for the comment on "Friday Night Booze Cruise" -- I used the wrong hashtag, but fixed it. It was a cool challenge!
[avatar]
Hi Liz, I appreciate the read-through and your offer to assist with music on "Do the Chili Pepper!" I don't really have a hard and fast idea of a melody for it for you to work with. Is there any chance you are interested in doing the whole shebang? I just seem to be only about cranking out words so far this time, even if I have a sense of the meter. No worries if that's not what you want. Just thanks for the offer regardless, my friend. And be my guest, if you are interested. :)
[avatar]
Hey, Sorry I've been out of the loop a bit. You can send other lyrics, if you like. I consider the ones you already sent as a challenge I'm going to keep working on even if you send more.
Also, 'An Empty' has a demo.
[avatar]
thank you for popping in- yes my phone is in for repairs and I usually write while I walk- and was using my hubby's phone: so I wrote the lyric directly into FAWM. And it is still under consdtruction- I dont know how to hide it or make it private. But the lyric iabout listening to the yellow canary when he makes alarm because their future is also your future. I have a thingk with yellow canaries- they used to use them in mines to indicate poisonous gasses.
[avatar]
Thank you for your comment on "The Witching Hour", Liz! It's been nice chatting in the Wednesday Zoom meets. Congrats in advance on what looks like it will be a very handily-accomplished 50/90 win!

Edit: Oh, and you commented on my other one too ("I Could Not")! Was she "all that"? Well, I certainly thought so at the time, but that's young love for you. She definitely had her own issues, and it could be argued that *both of us* dodged that bullet. I've written a song or two that explore that side of it, but I keep coming back to *this* side. I guess the bottom line is that she and I were not right for each other, but that still doesn't stop me from wishing that we had been.
[avatar]
Hi! I did not get that recording. dsweidel at gmail dot com
[avatar]
Nice to meet you, too :) I'm always curious to listen to new music. There are so many cool collabs here!
[avatar]
I love the song. You post it, and we’ll plug it at the meeting today!
[avatar]
Hi! Thanks for listening my music (which become a bit reperitive with almost same square bass and fm pad presets). About vocals - I had thoughts about some vocaloid-like voices earlier, but it is quite hard to synthesize, so those tracks created without mind of lyrics.

#apptronica ? Interesting...
[avatar]
Hey, Liz - I can post it on the existing lyric post, unless you’d rather post it as a new thing. (Some people like to do that on the theory that more people see it if it’s on the top of the list briefly.) Nancy
[avatar]
Thanks for listening to "Let's Get it On (post-skirmish non-skirmish)" - I'm glad the new link worked!
[avatar]
Thank you for listening to "The Inquiry" and leaving a comment on that collab. 😀
[avatar]
Hi, again, Liz, So glad you enjoyed City of Angels. I love that story of youth and adventure and chasing your dreams. Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.
[avatar]
Yep. Still on for Wednesday. 😊
[avatar]
Hi, I'm sorry you had trouble with the link to "Let's Get it On." Here's the direct Soundcloud link; maybe that will work better. Thanks!

https://soundcloud.com/joe-griffin/lets-get-it-on-5090-2023
[avatar]
Liz, Thanks for the thumbs up on Bitten By the Beast. It was fun to write a dark lyric for a change! Now, I want to explore your page!
[avatar]
I should let you know that I am traveling this weekend and won’t be able to do anything for a bit.
[avatar]
Hey Liz. Thanks for your recent comment on “ It Felt Like Falling” I appreciate your take.
Also, no email yet.
[avatar]
Hello, Liz. Thank you for checking out my lyrics. Always appreciated.
[avatar]
Liz-I can’t wait to hear it. I looked in my e-mail and didn’t see it.
The e-mail is nancycunningham1451@gmail.com
anything you changed will be fine.
And yes to next Wednesday.

Hi Liz. Thanks for braving the "Summer Storm". Sadly, Doug, who wrote the lyrics, did indeed lose a chunk of his tree this year to a summer storm. His misfortune created the song that you gave your nice comment about.
[avatar]
Hey Liz! Absolutely, do you mean the one on the 22nd Aug? If so, can't wait, hopefully see you and Paul there :)

Hello there! Talk to the mountain remains one of my favorites. It allowed me to say some difficult things I’d been holding in and is just a beautiful song. We will have to do it again sometime. Happy 50/90!

So nice to meet you. I’m enjoying your songs and looking forward to reading and listening to more. It’s fun to imagine you and @dragondreams playing together in real life. My music making and collaboration has all been virtual so the idea of doing it in person sounds almost mythical to me.

It was a pleasure to meet you as well, and I hope to see you again next Wednesday.

Hey Liz! You are CRUSHING it over here! WoW!

Wasn't sure if I replied to your possble interest in setting Woodsmoke and Firelight Burning, to music... If interested feel free to do so that would be cool!

Write-On!!

@ayais
Thanks for the comment on 'AI, cat in the pie' - my first skirmish. I did the lyric rewrite first, then the crazy keyboard partial chords, then tried to tone down the dissonance with guitar chords, a straightforward melody and a tonal home. I didn't really know where I was going until the end, and I guess that's part of the skirmish experience.

Thank you for the comment on "Baby On the Merry-Go-Round" -- yes, I can see how some things wouldn't translate! "Carny" (or carnie) is a person who works the prize and game booths at a fair or carnival -- they often travel itinerantly from fair to fair. And zeppole are delicious fried dough with sugar, cooked up fresh and hot at one of the food stands. :)

Thank you for your comment on "a terrifying chimera designer"! :)
[avatar]
Thanks for the comment. 😊
In case it matters 🫣 ... the vocals aren't mine -- I craft them using a vocal synthesiser, as it's easier and, um, they sound better than my own voice 😐
[avatar]
Thank you for your pass through my 50/90 output so far this year, and for all your generous comments!
[avatar]
Thanks for checking out Haunted by the Harmonies!
[avatar]
Thanks for listening to "Way Of The World" - and yes, I am a lucky man to have found something good in this old world
[avatar]
Thank you for commenting on "Look At The Damage"!
[avatar]
Hi Liz, I've sent you an email. At your leisure, no rush.
[avatar]
I love your comment on "Two To Tango" -- I think I am a "conceptual riffer." It'll take another year or two before I'm actually good at it, probably. :)
[avatar]
Hey there- we’re random collaborators now.
[avatar]
Ha ha, glad you liked the Steinway one, I wanted you to feel a BIT of empathy for our hero because money doesn't buy happiness, or something. But not very much.
[avatar]
Cool! I'll drop you a text to firm up arrangements nearer the time. 😀
[avatar]
Thanks for your comments on ”It’s all about the gear” Last year I didn’t manage a single song during 50/90 due to various reasons so I already won sort of. ;)
[avatar]
Tuesday 22 August. I thought we could head down and back the same day if that suits, but you're welcome to stay at my place the day before and after if that helps plans.

Let the "Setting of 'Woodsmoke'" begin! That would be cool! I know time is tight and everyone is out straight. If you can/want to do it that would be great... If you can't for whatever reason that's totally cool too! It's really interesting to simply pass words off with no direction, truly showcases the different perspectives, interpretations etc... everyone has! This is one of my favorite aspects of music!
[avatar]
Thanks so much for your kind comment on "Like Stars (Chimera)!"

Hi TC! just wanted to clarify my Tim Minchin reference was regards to styling and not any particular song… truly meant as a complement and not anything but :-) I really like your work :-)

also, thank you for stopping by to read and comment on wood smoke and fire light burning! Sounds like your woodstove winter could be a song!
[avatar]
sounds good! I love rainfall in July. Instead of lyrics, I could add instruments / melodies? And if you can email me the track that'd be awesome!
[avatar]
I thank you sincerely for your comment on "Small Somewhere In There!"
[avatar]
sounds great - do you have something in mind / direction? feel free to send me anything and I can add to it, then send you back!
[avatar]
Aw thanks for the comment on “Tango”!
[avatar]
Hello new friend! Thank you sm for your kind feedback on 'Cabinet of Curiousities' :) and I'd love to collab with you
[avatar]
Good morning! I wasn't sure if you saw my comment last week about being on board with music to 'Darkness in Our Paradise' I am SO excited to hear what you come up with. Your pieces are so incredible!!!!
[avatar]
It's really true! I'll never have a showstopping voice, but making so many demos really has improved my singing, too. Glad there safe places to make mistakes and try again! :)
[avatar]
Thanks for the kind word on "What We Weathered" -- it took me about a year of making ukulele cover videos to be able to look at the camera! :)
[avatar]
Thanks… yes it was about a curious porcupine that was stalking me in the woods from their perspective … but we quietly coexisted and I was never quilled … but it was scary and creepy as I thought they would! But I did try to make it like a stalker song and keep people wondering …
[avatar]
Thanks for the kind words.
[avatar]
Hooray. Piano and vocal sounds great to me. Look forward to it. Thank you.
[avatar]
If you would like to put music to Say Whatever You Mean, I’ll be thrilled. Feel free to prune or add things to it, and let me know if you want any help from me.

@kc_
Hey Tunecat! Thanks for stopping by to read and comment on National Jelly Toast Day! So sweeeet! Really appreciate your time! TX!
[avatar]
Hi! Shall I call you tunecat or Liz?
I definitely remember that collab you created with my words! I’ll be looking for it in my archives to refresh my memory of the sentiments. I hope I might be able to even inspire something else in you this summer. I’m not likely to do much recording this summer, so I’d be glad if I could channel some lyrics that appealed. It’s another way to keep creativity alive and be surprised by someone else’s at the same time!
Cheers!

Thanks so much for hearing and commenting "Little Swan"!

@mikeb
Thanks for the listen on 'Questioning'!
[avatar]
Wow! You've been busy! 😀
[avatar]
@mikeb
Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Beautiful Day'!
[avatar]
hey, thanks for the listen - the drums were just Logic drummer and I picked a dance drummer and electronic drums, can't remember which ones off the top of my head - I removed some of the extra bells and whistles off them (shakers, special boopy sounds etc.!)

PS cerulean blue because I went to art college - always use it for sky!
[avatar]
thanks for listening to my song! : )
[avatar]
Hi Liz. 😊
Great to see you here!
